I just got my table back from Ackermans after some repair and refinishing and it looks better now than the day I purchased it. They are extremely professional and got all the work done in a timely manner.

We just used Ackerman and Son’s again for I think the 3rd time. Each time our experience was excellent. The first time was for a major overhaul of a sectional. It was 2003 and the couch was over 10 years old. Jim Ackerman came out to our home and helped us determine if the couch was worth recovering. It was because we bought a good quality one and it has served us well. I picked out the fabric at their shop and they did the recovering along with replacing the springs in permalator mesh. It cost about the same as getting a new sectional of similar quality so yes, it’s not cheap to do this. We have a hard to furnish room so it would have been tricky to find a new one, so we opted to recover it and It looked great. We wisely ordered extra fabric and purchased the Guardsman protection plan which covered the couch for 10 years. We needed a repair about a year later which was done at no charge. Now, 10 more years later, we still love the couch and it was well worth recovering. Recently the fabric on a few of the cushions started to rip(remember it’s been 10 years since it was recovered) so I took them in with the extra fabric on Wednesday. Jim remembered me and took in the project saying it would be a few weeks. I expected that as it is typical turnaround for them. When I mentioned the Guardsman protection plan, I realized we were just a month past its expiration date. Oh bummer!!! The cushions were ripped a few months ago but I never got around to taking them in, not realizing 10 years had passed. Well, Jim said it was no problem to fix them under the plan, so phew, that was awesome! And to make this repair more awesome, they got them done in 1 day. Yep 1 day!!! I think it might have been due to the fact that the repair was only on one side of the cushions so it was simple for them AND that the Broncos are in the Super Bowl on Sunday and I mentioned that we would have to «punt» our our seating situation for when our friends come over for the Big Game!!! Go Ackerman/Go Broncos! Thanks Jim!

I took my chair in to be reupholstered. I chose a stripe fabric and the instructions were clear as to how it was to be used. Unfortunately, the shop never read the instructions and it was done incorrectly. The fabric had to be reordered and four months later I finally received my chair. Apologies were few and in fact Mike said well it was not his fault the fabric was out of stock when reordered, I said it was your fault the first time when it was applied incorrectly, he smiled. I had to repeatedly call to find out status, they never initiated a call. Chair looks great, but I resent the lack of customer service. This place is expensive, and I expect better service.

I made the mistake of going into Ackerman’s with my mom to help her pick out some fabric to have a chair and ottoman reupholstered. Little did I know I would be spending hours of my day going through countless books of gorgeous fabrics and daydreaming what every last item in my house would look like reupholstered. If it can be covered in fabric, Ackerman’s can do it and they will make it look perfect. It wasn’t until hours into our visit that we realized that it was Mike Ackerman himself helping us. He took the time to show us how to read the information on the back of each fabric so we would make sure we were picking fabric that was fit for its purpose. He was patient and never grew tired of our indecisiveness – with so many choices it is hard to make up one’s mind! After we decided on our fabric, we inquired if they would have a particular hot pink velvet that we had been searching for for a project we were planning. Not only did they have it, they had a remnant of it that we could get immediately and at a lower price than it would be to order it. Even looking through their remnants was a treat! I told Mike that I would«work for pillows,» but at this time they do not offer that option. So for the time being, I am going through my house and bringing in the items to be reupholstered one at a time. I do hope that one day they will offer an apprenticeship and I can learn the beautiful trade of reupholstering! Ackerman & Sons has made life-long customers out of us!
