Money is ALWAYS a consideration when hiring someone for a service, but value is even more important. Though Pillar to Post is not the least expensive, you definitely get far more than your money’s worth.
What first set them apart was the initial phone conversation and quote. It might be rare, but I actually got to speak to the actual inspector and she (Karen) was overly explanatory of what they would be looking for at the house. Through the process of purchasing my first home, I didn’t have any experience with this process, so I appreciated the extra time, care, and explanations on the phone more than you could know. I made calls to 6+ other home inspectors and no one else took this kind of time or care. This is why I ended up choosing Pillar to Post for the job.
During the inspection process, I could not have been happier with my decision. Karen, who was my inspector, has an eye for detail like no one else I have ever met (even more than myself, and that is saying a lot — anal might even be my middle name, haha). Not only did she explain what she was looking for while going through each of the items, she took the time to explain to me what she was doing and was even more patient when I had questions — and boy do I have a lot of questions, as any first-​time home-​buyer should! I was so appreciative of her patience and thoroughness. The entire inspection took 6 hours and she was as patient with my (and my husband, and my father and the realtor) as she was in the first hour — and believe me, we are a particular and talkative bunch! I am sure if we hadn’t had so many questions, the inspection could have been done in 3 – 4 hours. But again, she didn’t mind at all and you could tell she absolutely loved her job and helping others.
The final report was as detailed as I ever could have hoped for as well and assisted more than I can explain on a Unilocal review during the inspection resolution process.
A home inspection is the best money you can spend to ensure you understand the property you are buying, not only with cosmetic details, but more importantly with items that can affect your health and safety.

Doug and Karen scheduled the inspection very quickly and were very friendly, accommodation and helpful. They answered all of our questions, addressed any specific concerns with us, and gave us a report at the end of the inspection. We felt they were very thorough and detailed.
