Great place. Came here directly after taking my dog on a dog walk in the middle of the afternoon in Texas. Immediately seated is outside brought my dog and I some ice cold water and made us feel very welcome.

Can’t speak on the food since I didn’t eat here but the drinks and service were great!!! I came here late night in an über with my sisters and cousins. We were out celebrating the life of my brother who recently passed away. Our server was really very friendly and the kilts they wear are awesome! He was attentive and knew how to interact well with my cousins from LA who can sometimes come off harsh and also be a little rambunctious at times. We had a blast and shut the place down even though we were the only people in there. When it was finally time to bail at 2am there was a huge problem… We couldn’t find a ride. no ubers available. We waited for while until we were finally able to get a hold of a cab service. maybe 30 – 40 minutes. They were nice enough to serve us water while we waited. My martini was perfect so props to the bartender.

Food average. Greasy. Good portions. Nice selection of beer. The last two times our order was wrong. Asked for no mushroom on steak, came out with mushroom then asked if they could just scrape the mushroom gravy off. Uh. No. Not sure if waitresses distracted, not listening or just didnt care. We gave them two tries but both failed so I doubt we will be back. We do love british pub food so was looking forward to it. I did notice my husbands order more correct than mine.

The menu changed. It’s been a while since we have been here. The food is Americanized. Most of the British food are gone. I ordered the Shepards pie and it was ok. It tasted like can beef stew covered wth mash potatoes. It wasn’t like that before. They did away with the tour or Britain which was one of our favorites. My husband and daughter ordered two other items on the menu and it was fair. No big wow factor. Stick with the appetizer menu. You won’t go wrong. Stars. 1 star for facilities 1 star for live music. ½ star for service. We had to search for someone to refill our water. 0 star for overall experience — star for restrooms didn’t visit. Is it me of did the waiters skirts get shorter? I saw a few underwears while the tables were being wiped down.

Waited 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge my existance, and watched others get seated and served. I will be spending my money at Lefty’s from now on.

Try the Irish Breakfast, if you need a wonderful drink. So Ive been here 3 times and I’ll keep coming here for the amazing food, I’m always trying a new dish, everything is seasoned and the pretty waitresses are a plus! Don’t believe me? Come try and see it out!

I came here a few weeks ago when I first moved to San Antonio and I’m already back. The bartender remembered me which was way cool and made me feel at home. I ordered the Scotch Egg which is a hard boiled egg wrapped in banger sausage and cheese. It’s breaded then fried and served with chutney and spicy mustard and greens. Very good. They carry a few microbrews which is pretty awesome. I love microbrews. Definitely a good spot to check out.

Consistent. You want a steak made to order exactly the way you crave; well you’re at the right location. This location, Lion and the Rose, has continued its consistency for great service and attentiveness, food made to order the way you requested, and the friendly atmosphere that easily encourages your return. I have to thank management and staff for their consistency in service.

As a traveling businessman, I’ve had my fair share of both good and bad service. The Lion and Rose certainly falls on the latter end of the spectrum. Upon walking in on a chilly Monday evening, I marveled at the room décor and really cool looking chairs. The atmosphere in there was calm, classy almost. My server, Ari, was extremely polite and was always right on top of getting drinks out. I wasn’t too sure on what to get and her recommendations of fish and chips and shepherds pie with mac and cheese were extremely helpful(I went with the shepherd’s pie, incredibly delightful) I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this place although I had to respectfully decline the membership and definitely will be back the next time I’m in the area.

I could not get past my first visit here to rate a second. I have eaten at other locations but this was horrid. Tue server smelled like she had not showered for weeks and her hands were visibly dirty.

The hubby and I decided to go here instead of fighting people for free food at major chains during Veterans Day. We ordered an app and main course and our waitress Amy was delightful. Her attitude was contagious and makes the food and experience that much better. I’m all about exceptional service, the food could be alight but it’s the service that really makes or breaks restaurants.

First off I want to say that I highly enjoyed the food and my waitress was great. But I witnessed an older male manager yelling at an employee who looked as if she was 16 in the front sitting area. I understand that managers have to get onto their employees sometimes but because it was done where anyone could see instead of in an office or somewhere else private it was highly unprofessional.

My wife and I have yet to have a bad meal or lacking service after three visits. New were even served by a waitress with only one working arm(the other was in a sling) and she was just as quick and attentive as everyone else. The food is delicious. I’ve had the curry(super spicy, but great), roast beef sandwich, and shepherd’s pie. We’ve also had the sticker toffee pudding which is a hard dessert to find this side of the pond. They have a trivia night every Wednesday, which is a blast. Their beer selection is on point and has plenty of craft beers on tap. All in all, a great place to eat and hang out!

I really actually liked this place. I had been searching all over the area looking for the best burger to satisfy me after a grueling workout and this fun cozy pub hit the mark. They also have a great selection of beers and drinks. Make sure you also keep an eye out for any specials(they offer different specials for each day as well as happy hour and reverse happy hour specials), because they provide a great opportunity to try something new. That’s how I ordered the bread pudding on a whim and now my life will never be the same. Delicious. I’ve always had really great service whether I’m there for a meal during the early afternoon or just having drinks late at night. I will be going back.

I’m from out of town. I pulled up to this cute little bar and grill and was very excited for some British Style dining. I was hopeful for some great shepards pie and mash potatoes. I wasn’t disappointed. The food was excellent. It really was. Our waitress was very kind and very sweet. I do however wish they had the girls in normal attire. We were surprised by the outfits. Not quite as risqué as Hooters or Tilted Kilt but, not really necessary for a place with exceptional food. Normally, this wouldn’t be my kind of place but the food was so good we will likely be back many times.

I loved it here! My husband and I came here for dinner. We had the fried mushrooms, the king skillet and the bangers skillet. All of our food was yum tastic! I have had had much English food to start with but was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Our server Dusty was very attentive. And the traveler grapefruit beer I had is my new favorite citrus beer!

I love it. I have been there three times. Can’t get enough shrooms and the sandwiches are great. We had a brand new waitress but she was still great. I’ve had a lot of different drinks there, all good. That roast beef was over the top!!!

I read the reviews and decided to come here. I don’t understand the hype? Drinks are overrated and too pricey for quality and the food was nothing over ok. Maybe it was a bad experience but I won’t be going back to see.

My chicken pot pie was undercooked it smelled like raw dough. So I asked the waitress is this what it’s suppose to look like? She said yes and I said it does not look cooked all the way can you ask the chef. She took the ramekin and then came back saying it isn’t cook and they will make a new one. So I just ate my side which was a cold mac and cheese at that point I was hungry and didn’t want to lose another item off my plate 20 mins later my pot pie comes to the table and the waitress was asking who’s pot pie is this? I was the only one on the table that didn’t have any food in front of me but she didn’t want to set the plate down till someone claim it. She sets it down and it looked exactly like the first one I almost thought it was a joke and ask my friend did they just take the first one and heat it in the microwave for 20mins. I took stab at it and scooped up raw dough… I flag down the waitress again and told her it isn’t cooked and ask what’s going on is there something maybe wrong with the oven. She said she will ask the manager. She came back said they can make another for me. I was like well everyone at the table is pretty much done with their food so I’ll pass just take the item off the check. She said are you sure let me check with the manager once again. I said it’s ok I can talk to the manager, so she left and grab the manager. Well ended up the manager had to toss 6 other pot pies in the kitchen. She didn’t charge me for my pot pie plate on the check and she took off another item my friend order from the bill. I didn’t eat anything other then a mac and cheese so can’t comment really on the food. The service was meh but I gave an extra star because the manager didn’t charge me nor an additional item that my friend order. But I am disappointed that a waitress that’s been working there for some time should know what the food looks like when it goes to the table the fact that she can’t tell after a million pot pies goes out if one is not look cooked why would you serve it same goes for the kitchen staff. Why wait till a customer complain that it isn’t cook before doing something about it. Shame on the chef and the staff.

Before I begin, I love Lion and Rose-its one of my favorite restaurants and I’ve had no negative experience ever… up until recently. It was not the food that was awful, it was the SERVICE. First off, there was no sense of hospitality whatsoever. Once my group and I walked in, we were not greeted by anyone, mainly cause no one was even there. And the place was not busy, so there really is no excuse. Finally we got seated after 5 minutes and met our not so friendly waitress… the vibe my group and I got was that we were not welcome. Period. She was not friendly whatsoever, and did not even smile. Despite this, our food was really good, there is no complaint there. But when we were done and got our to-go boxes, our empty dishes just sat there on the table… much longer than they should be. Our waitress did not come and bus our table, my friend had to bus our own table cause we spent about 20 mins just starting at empty, dirty dishes. During this time, we noticed some conflict happening at the booths next to us-apparantley the card machine program that they use was not working, so they were asking customers to provide their CARDINFORMATION so that the manager could input it later that evening… that did not sit well with both booths. We overheard(what I’m assuming is) one of the manager explain to one of the booths of the situation and promised that their info would be kept confidential and private and what not, but the customer was not having it, even after the manager said they would just need the name, expiration date and last 4 digits of the card, she even went on to say she could SHOWTHECUSTOMERWHATTHEYHADBEENDOINGFOROTHERCUSTOMERS… How can you say the information provided will be kept confidential yet offer to use it as an example for another customer. IDK. IDK. IDK. SO. As this was going on, we were ready for our check but we could not find our waitress. We eventually had to ask the manager talking to the booth for our check. Finally our waitress emerged and gave us our check, and we probably waited about 15 more minutes for her to even pick it up(I did pay in cash BTW). Then the wait for change was even greater… The credit card problem deff explained why our waitress wasn’t in the best mood, she was most likely having to deal with customers being angry, so I can understand that, but that does not justify her lack of customer service skills. Yes you’re in a bad mood, but separate that from your work. Another thing that is irritating is that despite knowing the credit card program wasn’t working, they didn’t let us know. The least they could’ve done is let us(and any customer for that matter) know, or put some sign up outside. I’ve seen other places do this before and it is greatly appreciated. Super sad over this experience. The food was great as always, but we just went on a bad night.

My husband and I went here about a week ago, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to review or not. But, after keeping the pictures in my phone this long, I figured I might as well. We went on Sunday, as it’s happy hour all day. $ 1 Mimosas! We started with the chicken wings. Which were, in short, disgusting. There was more fat, and gristle, than meat on any of them. The sauce was delicious, but the actual«wings»(which were more like scrawny chicken legs) were inedible. For mains, we got the Shepard’s Pie, Guinness Macaroni, and the Scottish Egg. My husband was quite pleased with the Scott Egg, and the Guinness Macaroni is the best I’ve ever eaten. However, the shepherds pie tasted like dog food. Aaand when I brought this up to the waitress, her explanation was«ooooh, you’ve never had it before». Which, that alone is enough for two stars. The waitress was friendly, but for an establishment that is basically a bar, service was super sporadic. There were only two other tables in the establishment, and we went with the intention of drinking a lot. But after two hours of bad food and slow service, we just called it a night after three drinks.

Went here for a late night dinner. I Unilocaled this place although it had mixed reviews we decided to go. I have never had British food so why not try something new. It was about 10pm and the parking lot looked empty. I didn’t know if they were open. Yes they were! The inside was nice. I loved the décor and the theme. The TVs everywhere which is convenient for all you sports guru. Next time I want to sit in the room with the curtain and large tv. It looks like a private booth. It took a while to look at the menu because they had a lot of different food I have never heard about. I had to read each description one by one. I did remember how everyone talked about the fish and chips and the scotch eggs. So for an appetizer we ordered and shared the eggs and they were so good!!! I would definitely order that again next time. I ordered the Tour of Britain because I could not decide what to eat. There were so many choices. The tour included a shepards pie, sausage, roasted tomatoes with parm, baked beans & fish(which they were all out :(((), so I ask of they could sub another Shepard pie. The Shepard pie is so good. I have never had one before so i can not compare it to anything. The sausage was awesome. My husband ordered a sirloin sandwich and he loved it. This place is really quiet and we enjoyed everything. I don’t know what times are the busy times but 10pm on a Tuesday it was super quiet. 1-star for foodies 1-star for service 1-star for clean and welcoming 1-star awesomeness Total of 4 stars! I only give 5 stars of I visit the restroom Which I didnt
