First, I wouldn’t suggest coming here to have a nice meal and have a conversation with someone after 3pm. All of the middle school kids come there after school and are loud, obnoxious and completely inconsiderate. May be a parenting problem, but maybe the management should control what happens in their establishment so other patrons don’t feel put out. The food was subpar at best and the service was terrible. Every person working there was rude and especially the manager. I have only been there twice and I will never come back and will make sure all of my friends and family stays clear as well.

The best hot sandwich! We had mushroom and cheese hot sandwiches, full of tender sliced beef. Good flavor! Cold sandwich was also delicious and full of well cooked beef. Ice cream are very flavorful, as my friends recommended. I would recommend this place to every one who would stop by Livingston. Great place for a good meal on your way to Yellowstone!

Stopped here twice traveling between the Bozeman airport and Gardiner with the family while on vacation. Very generous portions of sandwiches made with fresh ingredients. The meat is literally falling out of the sandwich it’s so full and the bread is as soft as can be. Highly recommended.

MUCH better sandwich options in Livingston. Food is ok here, seems like nostalgia keeps folks coming back. I find the signature cheesesteaks to be very greasy and a touch over priced. BUT, it’s always clean and served with a smile, blows the doors of the vulgar chain sub shops. If you want a sandwich in town, Matt’s is the best by a very long shot.

The greatest sub sandwich ever. It has been forever since I have been to Livingston but one of the main reasons I would return is to get a sandwich at the Pickle Barrel. This was one of the first places I ate when I moved to Livingston for a summer. I don’t think I truly realized how amazing it was. I probably ate at the Pickle Barrel three times a week during that summer. The bread is great; and the steak and cheese is heaven. If you are ever in this part of Montana give The Pickel Barrel a shot. There is a location in Bozeman as well but I only ate at the location in Livingston.

Huge portions! I liked the food. I hated the Décor inside– I’ve noticed this common theme around town with the different places and their not very tidy. Maybe I caught a messy day. It was super busy.

Not impressed at all! We ordered 2 different types of sandwiches, both were gross. The place is small and it was really hot inside. I’d maybe go back for ice cream but that’s about it!

My first and favorite sub-sandwich place. My favorite«The Dragon Slayer». Piles of meat, more than bread, and it always keeps well to the next day. I used to eat the chili quite often but I haven’t had it in years. I remember it being very tasty especially the chicken or turkey. And don’t forget to get a free pickle!

This is the worst sub sandwich that I have ever had. Think about taking a couple of handfuls of the cheapest deli meat that you can find and stuffing it into a hot dog bun. You might as well mosey on up to the trough of sliced meat and eat mouthfuls of that. Do not order the half of a sub and think that you are at Subway. My wife and I could have easily split a quarter of a sub and been full(but not satisfied). I save half of mine until the next day and could not finish it then either. I don’t like to waste food, but after a couple of bites, I threw it away. Save yourself the trouble and skip this one.

You have to order at the counter, but the service was excellent. We had a huge order and the food was delivered to our table before we could sit down! I had the Italian sandwich, which was as good as they come. The homemade ice cream is superb. We loved this little town, and were happy to have stumbled upon the Pickle Barrel!

Tasty. Had the cheese steak sandwich, turkey sandwich and home made beef vegetable soup. Clean bathrooms. Fast service. Great experience I don’t have restaurant to compare it to, however it would be a mile above blimps or subway. They are not even in the same ball park

Probably the best sandwich place in Livingston. I would compare it to a step above Blimpie’s(whatever happened to that place btw). Great fountain soda.

Based on most everyone’s review, we decided to stop in for a sandwich. They have fantatic sandwiches. Lots of toppings, delicious bread and a whole sandwich is huge — plenty for a dinner meal. Located in dowtown Livingston, the place has lots of charm. Would highly recommend stopping in for a super tasty sandwich. Also… they have ice cream so you can get a sweet treat too!

One of the best sandwich shops I’ve ever been to. They really pile on the toppings. ½ a sandwich will fill anyone up. They recently added whole wheat bread. Everything tastes great. The hot sandwiches take a little while to cook because it’s all done fresh. The soups are pretty good too. They serve Wilcoxson’s Ice Cream which is also a local company and excellent quality. Excellent value, friendly service, and perfect food. This place exhibits everything good about a small town restaurant.

Absolutely loved The Pickle Barrel Sandwich Shop in Livingston! The staff is so kind and courteous, with that small town feel that’s a lot like home. I had the Pepper Stake Hot Sandwich for lunch, which consisted of white bread, peppers, cheese, beef, and onions. I also had some Wild Sweet Orange Tazo Tea, and Maple Nut ice cream. The sandwich was massive! I suppose this is the Subway of Livingston? I ordered the half, and it felt more like a footlong. Very inexpensive, and absolutely delicious. I was very impressed. My favorite part of this meal was the Maple Nut ice cream, which was mouthwatering. And that’s an understatement! I love nutty ice cream, and since they did not have my favorite flavor(i.e. butter pecan), I decided to explore, and fell madly in love. I wish there was a Pickle Barrel in Glendale! I can imagine myself eating lunch here all the time, and ice cream for dessert of course. With the friendly staff and cozy décor, I am certain that if ever I am in Livingston again, I will most definitely return.

Eat Here!!! I usually go to the locations in Bozeman but happened to be in Livingston for lunch recently. This location has the same friendly staff good food and reasonable prices. Just about everybody who walked in was greeted by their first name and a big smile. I always go for the Bobcat but whatever you order get a small unless you’re reallllllllyyyyy hungry. The larges are huge and could easily feed two people. The excellent photography on the wall will keep you busy if you’re stuck behind the entire local high school. Which I was, but barely noticed.
