Small store. Overpriced products. Seems like they have alot of young employees who don’t know what they are talking about. Alot of plant related knowledge which you would need further schooling to even begin to understand is being regurgitated by the employees. When you ask them further about the topic or to elaborate on what they are speaking about they can’t even answer the question or they have to ask the manager. The management isn’t the nicest. Maybe Ive just overheard from the wrong people or caught them on a terrible day. Nonetheless they do have some knowledge on some things, other things they have been briefly taught. Also there is a overwhelming«need» to push products. It seems like there is a sales goal or something because the employees seem to suggest all sorts of things you just don’t need or can’t use. Even going as far as suggesting something completely unrelated. Most of them are out of high school or in college id be surprised to hear anyone there has a degree in botany or horticulture. Not sure how the employees are trained or how they are able to give out advice with no degree. Id rather educate myself and shop online and pay the shipping instead of an inflated cost.

An interesting business for sure — dedicated to growing all kinds of plants both indoors and out. These guys specialize in a lot of the gear needed to grow indoors, from fertilizers to grow lights, heat mats, seed pods, etc… but also offer outdoor things like greenhouses, pots, organic pest control and more. They supply some locally made(Lansing) fertilizers that actually part of their own business. The people working here are well educated/trained on the products they carry. This business recently moved from what was probably a 2,000 square foot business on Middlebelt just north of 7 Mile to a 15,000 square foot shop on 7 Mile just east of Middlebelt on March 1, 2010. They are still setting up and enjoying their new space. There are several working demos set up where you can see the grow lights and plants in action. It’s cool to see all the equipment working in there. If I have any doubts about this store it’s that the prices seem a bit high. I’m still a gardening beginner though, so it might just be that you get what you pay for and their products just work better! I’ll be trying them out to see how my garden grows this year :-)
