This review is for after dinner drinks for three of us on Monday night at Desiderata Estates service Tony was manning the bar and provided exceptional service. He’s knowledgeable, engaged and passionate about his place and his offerings. Clearly he knows his regulars, but he’s equally warm with us first-timers. bar Wide ranging offerings of fascinating regional Texas beers and wines. As a huge IPA fan, I was suitably impressed with the offerings. A great cross-section of amazing choices. food No food, but it appears you can either carry in pizza from next door or carry out drinks to the pizza place. details Park on the street in front, walk five feet to the door — great small town feel. The space is inviting, with primarily refinished round wire spools as tables. Local art on the walls and small stage for live music. The restrooms are through a door at the rear. Restrooms are slightly average, but decorated nicely. Restrooms are workable for the space.

Coming into a town with a population of approximately 12,000, I did not expect to find this little gem on North Main. Tony Bowen and his sister Bernadette Bowen, owners, have a little hidden gold mine in Lockhart, TX. Their Wine Lounge’s ambiance is very laid back and they feature some of the best Texas beers and wines that I’ve ever seen in one spot. For $ 5.00, Tony will let you sample five wines for $ 5.00 and if find that you enjoy and buy, the $ 5.00 sample charge is waived. Well, after tasting the white wines, I fell in love with the Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards, Vermentino. Excellent nose and a sharp finish that I love. I told Tony that I was going over to Black’s BBQ and I needed a wine that I could pair with the smokiness of Black’s Q. Tony turned me on to County Road 233 Merlot which paired excellently with that mammoth beef rib I ordered. I love Desiderata. Anything you want to know about Texas wines, ask Tony Bowen, he’s the MAN!
