Best dry wine selection on the Niagara Trail. Atmosphere is nothing exciting, but worth a stop for the wine selection.

This place is adorable from the get-go. You drive a bit down a gravel road, past some grape vines, a garden and a chicken coop. When we pulled up, we were greeted by a friendly dog with a frisbee. The winery itself is small but very clean. The views from inside the winery are gorgeous. The wine itself isn’t bad. They have a lot of reds, which is somewhat unusual for the area. Their meritage is pretty good. I actually gravitate towards whites, and they don’t disappoint with there either. I enjoyed their reserve Reisling and their white blend.

If you like dry red wine I would highly recommend Arrowhead springs. Another pit stop on the way back from cherry picking and boy was I glad I did stop in. These guys are producing some of the better wines in the Niagara region that I have had on this side of the border. Hitting up the styles of the major French wine producers, you can find a wine of similar taste to a fine Burgundy, or hefty Bordeaux, or an spicy earthy Rhone style all in one place. I didn’t catch the name of the guy pouring for me but he made the experience all the more pleasurable. He had some great recommendations on what to taste based on what I normally like in a wine. His knowledge of the wine’s production and taste descriptors was impeccable as well. He easily intermingled our conversation with normal small talk, while dropping some great wine knowledge. I left with a couple bottles of chardonnay as they were a BOGO deal that day. Also took home some Meritage and Pinot Noir. I can say I’ll be back for sure next time I am in the area.

I’ve been to eight wineries along the Niagara Wine trail so far, and each one has its own distinct ambiance and wines. I prefer some wines more than others, but I have yet to have a poor experience or a wine that seems to be of low quality, hence my high ratings. Other people may or may not share my personal preferences so I focus on providing detailed descriptions. Arrowhead Spring Vineyards specializes in dry wines. I prefer semi sweet wines and fruit wines that aren’t too sweet but have a certain lushness, making me a poor judge of dry wines. That said, I surprised myself by buying a couple bottles of their Gewürztraminer. I enjoyed the crispness, and the hint of ginger and cloves intrigued me. Hard to pronounce, easy to drink. The semi sweet Riesling has strong overtones of kiwi and mango. I think my husband enjoys the more tropical whites, but he wasn’t there and didn’t get a vote so the Gewürztraminer was still the wine to beat. Beauvine Rose came close. It wasn’t particularly sweet, but it had an interesting smokiness to it. Robin, the owner, was working yesterday. She was very friendly, as was the family pet, an adorable dog that wanted to play fetch. A must visit for fans of dry wines, but also a good place for others to try, especially if you’re looking for a low key experience. They don’t accommodate«party» groups for those of you turned off by venues with, shall we say, more boisterous visitors. Arrowhead Spring Vineyards also take a lot of pride in their sustainable practices at all levels of production, and no herbicides are used in their vineyard according to the website. I love their commitment to the environment.

Came here on a wine tour last weekend. Customer service and atmosphere — 5 stars The actual wine — 3 stars Take this review with a large grain of salt. I have a horrible wine pallet. I usually go up and just say«give me something sweet». The customer service was great though! I learned a ton about ice wines. The little tasting lodge was so quaint too! I would definitely recommend coming in for a tasting!

Had a great experience tasting and glad I tried their ice wine. It was so delicious that I didn’t mind splurging and buying a bottle, it was well worth it! :)

A nice farm winery. Good selection of dry red wines and many other wines, too. Comfortable tasting room. $ 1 per taste. I liked everything I tasted(dry red).

Tastings are kind of pricing at $ 1 per taste. The Syrah is fabulous! Take some home. The people are fabulous and know all about the wines. Ian, the farm border collie is a treat to play with.

Another good experience along the Niagara Wine Trail. The owners’ son was pouring wine that day. So we got to hear a lot about how they make wine in western New York. I ended up purchasing a 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, although the 2010 Cabernet Franc and 2008 Meritage were good tasting wines.

Id heard they were rather wine-snobbish here, & yes they seemed so when I visited before last Christmas, but it was a busy little shop –good sign. Parking was a challenge and not good for the handicapped, and the staff seemed detached –but maybe they were tired, was almost closed when we stopped by — my mom, sis & grandmother. We enjoyed most of our samples. Maybe arrogance and pride about a quality product goes hand-in-hand though-was good wine. Bit pricey in our area but you get what you pay for, too. Not my fave winery or anything but not bad at all.

Of all of the wineries we visited in the area, this was by far the best. Obviously delicious wines, but also a wonderful atmosphere in the tasting room, with the most adorable puppy to boot!

Nice selection of whites, reds, and sweet wines including icewine. Personally enjoyed the Naked Chardonnay(un-oaked) and the Beauvine Rose. Were greeted by the owners wife who was quite friendly and very knowledgable about their wines as well as those of the surrounding region.
