One of the better atmospheres on the trail. Large and modern with the opportunity to see the wine barreling process in action. Nice patio area as well. There is a beer slection to buy pints in case you had your fill of wine.

In my humble opinion this is hands down the best winery on the Niagara Wine trail! The wine is excellent and they have wine to suite all tastes. The building itself is absolutely beautiful! As strange of a thing to comment on, the bathrooms are super clean but also just beautiful! I love the details of this place. The handmade ceramic sinks in the bathroom are lovely, the bar in the front is gorgeous and the view is amazing! There is definitely an artistic feel to this place that I love. They are also one of the only wineries on the trail to serve food. And let me tell you. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it is all good! Kudos to the chief! I come here often with my family just to drink a bottle of the Niagara with lunch. This is one of our favorite places in Niagara County.

Awesome place to go on a Friday night. Great people, food, yard games, and of course excellent wine. They also serve micro brews from around the country

The tasting room is very big and spacious, with beautiful art and blown glass decorations. The staff was friendly and accommodating even though I’m bad at names. They have a variety of wines at different prices. They aren’t the most inexpensive winery I’ve been to, but I don’t think they are terribly expensive either. I bought a bottle of Freedom Blue, a semi-sweet Riesling, for about $ 15. While Rosebud White from Niagara Landing is still my favorite white wine, Freedom Blue is still very tasty. I also tried the dry 2010 estate Riesling. I’ve read that wet stone notes are often favored in dry Rieslings when researching wine the other day so I was curious to experience it. If you’ve ever sipped wine and thought, «This is is good, but it would taste so much better if I was licking it from wet stone,» this is the wine for you. Don’t get me wrong. It was definitely a quality wine, just not for me. Sweet Freedom is a rosé with cherry and plum notes. I always like the idea of cherry and plum notes but they only seem to work for me in reds. Still, this is a relatively mellow rosé that isn’t overly sweet. The dessert wine Nektar isn’t mellow at all. It’s made from locally grown black currants, and very tart. I think it would pair well with cheesecake. Freedom Run opens a bistro with patio seating seasonally and shows movies on Thursday nights in the summer. I’d love to make it a date night some time.

I had my wedding recently at Freedom Run Winery. Evan(Special Events Coordinator) is a ray of sunshine, so smart and easy to work with. Anita(The other coordinator) is very sweet and willing to help with anything and always follows up when she says she will. The bartenders for the wedding were amzing. The view is amazing and photographs amazing. The barn is so easy to make look beautiful in several different styles. The tasting room and adjoining barrel room are also beautiful. I am so happy I chose to have my wedding at this beautiful location. They really let you do a lot with the space which really doesn’t need a lot of decoration. Everyone loved the unique venue and wonderful wines.

My ex fiancé and myself toured the winery and put down a five hundred dollar deposit for our wedding day which at that time, was over a year away. A couple months later, sadly, the wedding was called off. Understanding that the deposit was non refundable, I emailed the winery asking them if I were to find another buyer could I transfer over the deposit? They ignored me. Later, I got a call from«Sell My Wedding» which is a company that takes weddings that have been called off and sells them as a package deal at a discount. This place felt so bad for my situation(I had moved all the way to Buffalo, NY for this engagement, left my company, etc… only to have it go sour) that she agreed to do it for free! Isn’t that cool? Check out the company if you find yourself in a similar situation… Anyways, their job is to negotiate situations like this and I was told that she has never experienced anybody so rude as the coordinator at Freedom Run. We had found a customer and as far as I know, they may have taken my deposit and this other customers deposit(That I FOUND for them through the wedding company) and refunded me nothing. Now I get they are entitled to this, but it doesn’t make it the right thing to do in this situation. They made more money off of me and considering that the happiest day of my life turned out to be devastating, you’d think they’d be able to help me out a little bit. I will never go back here again. I can’t believe the way they treated me. If you are having a wedding here, I can’t imagine how bad it would have gone if they were so inflexible on something like this…

Any time a friend suggests a wine tour, we always tell them to go to Freedom Run. We’ve been here 3 times so far this year and will continue to keep coming. Ryan has served us every time and hes amazing. His counterparts Brian and Jake are always super nice. Can’t wait until we can come back again!

This place was one of my favorites from the trip. First off, they had an artist in residence that made the beautiful blown glass decorations for the bar. Secondly, their wines were absolutely delicious and their staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The guy that was serving us spent a lot of time with each wine, asking us for our opinions on it, what we could taste, smell, etc, then would actually explain what was in it. We were a group of 3 but the bar and standing area is decently sized, so a group could be accommodated. Another winery in the trail that I wouldn’t mind going to again. :)

It was the most expensive winery but absolutely the best wine on the trail. See Kris(before she leaves for New York City) for lots of knowledge and a great pour. Evan is a sweetie and it was his first day. Perfect dry wines and the most outstanding in this region!

Nicely setup winery. $ 5 for 4 tastings is not waived with purchase. We stopped in minutes before closing time and were still served, but the server was less than interested in us. Nevertheless we bought three bottles of wine.

My wife often comments that the pourer at a winery tasting room often makes or breaks her opinion of the wine and winery. At Freedom Run, Ryan made the experience for her. He knew his wines, talked about the winery, and gave a good impression. He treated us like we were the only people in the tasting room and that he had nothing better to do than to wait on us. They had a nice 2010 Meritage blend and a 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. I couldn’t decide which one to buy. Because of the Ryan effect, my wife told me if I couldn’t decide on one, to buy a bottle of each. So I did.

VERY small pours for the tastings… $ 5 for 5 tastes $ 5 for 3 dessert tastes The wines themselves are so/so. Not really worth going out of your way and if you are driving by, keep going and try another place — save yourself the time. The place was smaller, not great vibe inside-kind of cold actually, no food there… but the staff pouring wasn’t exactly professional either…

I don’t want to leave a bad review for winery because I LOVE me some wine, but my experience here was not good. My BF and I were cruising around Niagara«wine country»(I use that term loosely) in September. I strolled in not long after they opened on a Saturday(the BF stayed in the car). I was the only one there, so I figured I’d get some one-on-one attention from the staff. Nope. The gentleman behind the counter(young, thin, white guy) was busy stocking the bar. I approach the bar, expecting him to say«welcome, I’ll be with you shortly.» Instead, he ignores me and continues stocking while I stand there awkwardly for about a minute. I’m already annoyed. Then, without a smile or any introduction, he says«it’s $ 5 for a tasting, which ones do you want?» And that, ladies and gentleman, was the extent of our conversation. He didn’t say two words to me the entire time I was tasting. It was painfully quiet. In fact, he didn’t even stop stocking the bar during my tasting. He could not be bothered. The whole point of having a TASTING room is so that you can interact with your customers, educate them on your wines, and SELL your product. I live in northern VA. I’ve been to probably 25 wineres in the area, plus a few in Napa, and this rude behavior is just not common or acceptable. *Tip: even ignoring the bad service, the wines were terrible. Go down the road to Eveningside Vineyards. Better wine, better service.
