WARNING: HIDDENCHARGES, SHORT fueling hose Foolish me, presumed a brand new travel plaza would put in long, «fuel either side length hoses» at their pumps(8 total– 2 not working). Next day received a call from the fraud unit of the credit card. Love’s charged a fee for the cancellation with no fuel provided by the first pump, SURPRISE! On the plus side, diesel is available at least at 4 pumps, and the long handled squeegee made cleaning the windshield a breeze. Janitorial service is good, lighting bright, entrance for autos signage ok, employees friendly with Arby’s and convenience store(neither visited). Posted fuel prices are the same as Flying J across the street, and Arco around the country corner($ 3.05 for gasoline on 6 – 21). This new truck plaza caters to RV’s, and 5th wheels, so the short hoses are puzzling. However, the approach/turn to the pumps is shorter and winding(unlike Flying J and Arco), configuration when exiting the pumps caused some traffic congestion at each end. When two passenger vehicles are side by side at the middle pumps, you probably cant get a vehicle between or around them. To be fair, the station was busy –novelty coupled with the Father’s Day travel crowd – so it might be easier to maneuver other times. Cant comment on the parking since this was 10pm and I wasn’t planning a review till the extra billing issue came up later. All in all, I’ll probably skip this Love’s. Maybe I’m just spoiled, but I prefer billing for services rendered, not spurious charges. Also ease of access is important especially with the #$@$%!! ranch trucks. Being able to choose the shortest line(which longer hoses afford) rather than waiting for a specific left or right sided pump is a plus. It’s also nice at commute times when the car ahead of you can leapfrog into a newly vacated pump, shortening everybody’s wait, but here that doesn’t seem to be an option at the inner pumps. Sorry, it’s thumbs down for this Love’s..

This is the second time I’ve been to this Love’s location. I trust the company’s fuel much more than most and have used them in several station from the east coast all the way to California. It’s reasonably good and there are enough pumps, so that the diesel customers(me!) don’t have to wait too long for the gasoline customers, unlike typical filling stations. The price for diesel fuel is a bit lower than most typically. Today, it was $ 2.979, which was about 8 cents cheaper than the next best station along I-5. The pump was ready to handle either debit or credit cards, something not all pumps do correctly. Everything worked smoothly, including the printing of the receipt. I’ve had a lot of trouble lately with filling stations not refilling their receipt paper at the pumps. Their prices in the store are rather typical of a convenience store, and while I will shop in there, I don’t appreciate higher prices. I suppose there is a good balance.
