The 2010 Zin was almost flawless. Slight caramel nose. Mike and Maridel are the best! Caleb too! Bought a case of Suav. Blanc today. Perfecto! This is a must stop in Lodi.

Such an amazing experience! My boyfriend and I randomly decided to stop by this winery around 4:30pm, and we were greeted with open arms by Maridel and her husband Mike, the owners and wine makers of Stonum. They served us wine in chilled glasses, and appetizers over and beyond our expectations ! But the best part was actually talking with the owners. They are so passionate about their wine, and taught us as much as we wanted to know about the process. Before we knew it, we had stayed for almost 3 hours. The wine is delicious, we bought 2 bottles, and the experience makes it 5 stars hands down.

Where to begin– this was an awesome tasting experience From beginning to end. My friend and I arrived fairly early during the tasting hours on a Saturday and were greeted at the gate by a young man who welcomed us into the tasting area outdoors which is a beautiful grassy area with amazing shade trees and comfortable seating area. He told us they have two wines, a white and a red, we tasted white first, in a chilled glass mind you, very classy, wine as very good, at this point the winemakers wife, Maridel, came over welcomed us, introduced herself, and told us about the winery, she was extremely nice and gracious, she proceeded to bring us a mixed cheese plate, crackers, and made sure we had plenty of wine poured, mind you we haven’t even had second wine at this point! She then asked us if we ever had Lumpia, a Philippino appetizer, we said no and out she came with them, hot and fresh, Amazing! At this point her husband Mike, the winemaker arrived, came over, introduced, himself and was also extremely gregarious and welcoming, we talked wine and even baseball :-) we then had the red wine which was also good, after an extended stay due to their graciousness and our comfort, we both bought a bottle of white and were on our way down the road, definitely better for our experience at Stonum, so awesome to have met Maridel and Mike, and tasted their two wines, looking forward to future visits and to witness future growth of their winery, feel like we made some new friends. My friend and I both agreed it was one of the most enjoyable tasting experiences we have ever had. Highly recommend Stonum!

Stopped by last weekend, and the owner/winemaker was out back washing his dog. He said they were sold out of their last release, but will be releasing their 2012 Zin this weekend. We stopped in today and what a great experience. The wife had homemade lumpia waiting for us, and was liberally pouring(with many refills) their 2012 Zin and their first ever 2014 Sauvignon Blanc. The white was sourced from Calistoga and was excellent. The Zin is grown right there on the property, and made and bottled right there too. The owner makes the wine with his sister, and between them, his wife, and a couple of great workers, they do everything from vine to wine right on the property where they also live. In fact, the vineyard was planted in 1979 by the owner before he moved to the property. Both wines were excellent, and the experience was the best I’ve had in Lodi after tasting at about 37 wineries. Can’t wait to go back!

This is a great place. We stopped here on Father’s Day around 5, when other wineries we closing. There were about 6 cars and it looked like a party in the yard! The wine was fantastic and the owners were fabulous. You need to check this place out. Go relax with them, buy a bottle and sit under the tall trees and chat, eat. Perfect ending to a great day.

On a recent trip to Lodi, my friends and I had the distinct pleasure of visiting Stonum for a wine tasting. Far from the typical overcrowded, overdone tasting rooms, Stonum pours their ONE wine in the side yard of the owners’ home. The winemaker himself – a young, knowledgeable, personable guy named Caleb – poured our wine, while the winery owner served us fresh made lumpia and shared with us the story of how she and her husband came to be winery owners. The tasting area, in the shade of a stand of beautiful trees, was peaceful and comfortable, and Caleb and the owner made us feel like family. The wine is a big, yet refined Lodi Zin. Caleb told us they plan to expand their line in the coming years, and I cannot wait to see what he can do with some other varietals. Hours at Stonum are limited and vary, so be sure to give them a call, instead of just showing up. But do go, you will not regret it.
