Bagels were great, the soups not so much. Tasted like it was from cans and heated on a microwave.

I was stuffed from dinner and was hurting, but when I got a bite of the cheddar jalapeño bagel my aunt brought over, I scarfed down that gluteny goodness so fast I scared even myself. I was not expecting such a soft bagel because the bagels at Stater Bros, Winco, or whatever grocery store is just not pillowy like these. I eat bagels raw, forget toasted.

They are so rude, their bagels are nasty and their eggs for the bagel sandwiches is bland. Their staff is terrible and the owner hides behind behind their goon employees. Gets zero out of 10 bagels. Did I mention the rude staff?

I went in, with all intents and purposes, to get a bagel and lox. But then I made the mistake of asking the cashier to explain something on the menu. I felt bad that her English wasn’t sufficient enough to understand me that she pretended to answer questions that I didn’t ask. Suspecting that her communication skills might hinder my intended order, I opted instead for a jalapeño cheddar bagel. It came quickly, perfectly toasted, with cream cheese on the side. I know some Unilocalers have an issue with cream cheese not already on the bagel, but I was okay with deciding for myself how much I wanted. The cream cheese comes in one of those plastic cups that you’d sometimes get red pepper flakes in from a pizza order, so the amount may be too small for some people. But the $ 2.88 it cost for this was a bit too high for me. I’m sure it’s that $ 1.xx «slicing charge» that they indicate in their paper menus. Place was clean enough. I came in very early that there were no other customers. Walls were decorated with posters from classic Broadway shows. Note: This morning, I had a jalapeño cheddar bagel for 79 cents from Stater Brothers and toasted it myself. I did prefer the flavor of East Coast Bagel. On the other hand, there were a dozen jalapeños on the Stater Brothers bagel versus the 2 or 3 from East Coast. Guess it depends on which is more important to you, flavor or heat. Or $ 2.88 vs. 79 cents.

Craving bagel the other day so I decided to come check this place out. I ordered toasted garlic bagel with a side of scallion cream cheese. It had a nice garlic taste and scallion cream cheese was a bit bland. The scallions had no effect on the cream cheese. I was looking forward to this combination. I thought it was ok. I expected it to be better.

Went down here for a business trip today and wanted to grab something quick and delicious. They’ve met expectation and even surpassed it by their excellent customer service. They were on top and on point with my order. What did I order you might ask? I order a bagel that is called Lox Stock bagel sandwich and it was divine. I know, I know, the ingredients are simple but it was seriously the most complex bagel sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. That’s why I love little family owned shops like this. They present the freshest and most simple ingredients, which maintain the integrity of the food/drinks. Even the smoothies had fresh fruits in them. That is remarkable for this day and age. Crazy to say that right, but I’ve encountered way too many establishments that skimp on fresh fruits and opt for artificial powder. I am definitely returning to this place in hopes try everything they have to offer. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself with these lovely bagels! I SAYTREATYO-SELF when you’re in town.

She told me they made the muffins here but she LIED! This is nothing more than a Costco muffin!!! The onion cheese bagel was very good. Helped my greasy craving. They give it to you and you have to put together your own bagel with cream cheese. Not like the usual when they actually prepare it for you. The employees also have a bad attitude.

It was ok, not toasted enough, barely any cream cheese and they wanted to charge me extra for addiotnal cream cheese. The tomatoes weren’t crunchy, and the onions were old. $ 5 minimum on credit cards

Love this place! Like that they have lox and bagel and it comes with a free small drink. My kids really like the choc chip bagel that they have.

Ok, I’m officially done with this place. I’ve given them every chance to improve or prove my opinion wrong. Their bagels themselves are decent. Whipped cream was not good, they do not put the whipped cream on for you. They notoriously mess up orders and in general do things in a very half ass kind of way. They put their to go soup in coffee cups and somehow manage to mess up the simplest of foods. Today I ordered chicken tortilla soup(looked nothing like the picture, different color and everything) and a chocolate croissant. The soup had disgusting fatty pieces of chicken in it, barley(never had tortilla soup with barley before) and stemmy parts of vegetables. I’ve never met a chocolate croissant I didn’t like, but today I did. It was just eh. Did not fulfill the craving at all. I am over you, East Coast bagel! Finally, the staff. One lady speaks zero English and will give you ridiculous alternatives to what you order. I ordered egg whites scrambled with veggies and ham and they gave me a pile of egg whites with a layer of ham on top and a side of carrots, cucumbers and celery with ranch. The chef looks sweaty and disheveled. The cashier impatiently repeated the cost of my order as I was getting my money out of my wallet while she watched me. I’m done! And I’m pretty sure my health and my finances will thank me for it later!

I love sneaking in here in the morning and getting an untoasted bagel to eat on the way to work or while waiting for the shuttle. They always taste fresh, and awesome. Minus 1 star because sometimes there is a long wait.

Fantastic bagel sandwiches! I’ve been coming here for about 5 years now. It’s always consistently good. The woman who owns the place is always so friendly and accomodating. I get the vegetarian sandwich on a jalapeño bagel with a banana smoothie. Did I mention their smoothies are also a must? Your order comes with a pickle and a side order(I always get fruit). My fiancé and I have moved, but we still make the 30 minute trip to eat here.

So… My initial impression was that I was a bit surprised that when I asked for a pastry to be warmed up, that it came back rubbery. To me, that says they did it with a microwave, which usually ends up ruining the texture of the bread or pastry. I think texture is pretty critical to the enjoyment of a good baked item, so I was more than a little disappointed with that, but I shrugged it off at the time. Fast forward to next week. I went down with the office mates to get coffee, and while I was waiting on an espresso, I happened to notice a poster with photos of the pastries on it. They looked perfect — picture perfect in fact. I thought it odd that such a small shop would have professional promotional materials until I saw the logo for a commercial baking company. Turns out that every baked good in the shop can be accounted for by checking the product list of a commercial bakery in long beach that does all the heavy lifting and ships out the pastries and bagels frozen, ready to finish off in the client’s oven. In other words, these guys have about the same amount of baking skill as that 7-year old in the Pillsbury crescents commercial you watched last night in between episodes of the Bones marathon on channel 17. No wonder they don’t have enough sense to use a real oven to heat up my cinnamon roll! #fail

Because my wife knows how much I love breakfast, she treated me to this delicious little bagel shop. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich but life is not all daisies. Good: I like the atmosphere here. When you walk in you realize that this is a pretty standard bagel shop, but bigger. There is a large mural on one wall that is reminiscent of Broadway in New York except the signs are all«bagel» themed. Bagel of the Opera, The Bagelman, you get the idea. The bagels are good. They have veggie meat. If you order a sandwich, it comes with a small drink. Bad: While the atmosphere is kinda nice, it also feels like it is trying just a little too hard. As much as the try, this does not feel like a New York Deli. The biggest downfall for me is the location, it is located in the shopping plaza next to Clark’s Nutrition Center. This is just inconvenient for me because there is no other reason to visit this location. The last gripe I have is the coffee. It is very weak, much more like tea than coffee. But hey, some people like it that way. Verdict: I would like to come back here but, because it is so far out of my way, I probably won’t be back very soon.

I drink my coffee black because I want to taste the coffee. The Vienna Roast was two stars; but could tell if folks added stuff it would improve the taste. Orderd the chipotle breakfast Jalapeño bagel sandwich with veggie sausage 2 stars it was a nice size big enough to split for a small breakfast. But nothing special. I was really expecting a better bagel and also some chipotle flavor. I drowned my half with tapatio and some black pepper and it was just ok House blend 4 stars that was good coffee. But don’t see myself coming back here for mediocre bagels and good coffee…

This place is now called East Coast Bagel Café, but Unilocal still hasn’t approved the name change. Anywho, love their jalapeño cheese bagel! Cream cheese costs extra, boo. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s still nomz. I also tried their breakfast bowl with egg whites, sausage, and cheese which is good(not awesome). It’s conveniently located in the same plaza as where I currently work. Oh, btw, they charge 50 cents for using a credit card if you purchase less than $ 5 worth.
