Great restaurant! Good sushi and great service! They were super nice, even gave us the happy hour special despite us being 10min early.

My second favorite sushi place ever, but the best that I’ve found in SoCal so far. Maki Yaki has several things going for it. Reasonably priced all you can eat, very very generously portioned sushi, a good selection of sushi(I even tried raw squid the last time I was there), generally decent music playing softly, and their customer service is almost always stellar. I’ve eaten here several times and gotten food to go probably as many times. Dinner time usually sees Maki Yaki less busy than lunch time, but the all you can eat is a little more expensive then. I have only had one negative experience here, and that ended up being that they took around 35 – 40 minutes to get my lunch order done when they had initially said 10 – 15 minutes. So I burned of my lunch time, and then some. In addition to that, I have one complaint. One of the waitresses dropped a set of chopsticks on the ground, picked them up, then tossed them right back into the stack of chopsticks on the counter. Now, I’m not a «germaphobe» by any means, but at a restaurant it should be safe to assume that your eating utensils had been nowhere near the ground, regardless of whether or not they are wrapped in paper. I will be back, probably in a week or so. Deliciousness awaits.

This place was awful like seriously, the atmosphere was like okay but the food The taste was fine but like we ordered the all u can eat and ordered two rolls ate them and like immediately threw up My friend who has an iron clad stomach threw up their nasty ass sushi My poor stomach couldn’t even wait till I got home I threw up there. It was so bad… Never going back telling all my friends to never go there. Don’t waste your money Like she tried to charge us extra for not finnishing the two rolls there were like only a few pieces left and I’m like… Really? I just throw up your nasty ass food and your trying to charge me extra, I was too weak from being sick at the time so we just paid and left and I threw up more at home and fell asleep. Fuck this place.

I have been wanting to try their sushi and it is sooooo delicious! The staff is attentive and very friendly. Super fresh! I had the tiger, dragon and las vegas rolls. Also gyozas and edema mes… definitely worth it and will be coming back for more!

Pink lady roll is my favorite. I’m all about sticking to what I like then once in awhile venturing out to try something new. The pink lady roll sticks, they have other delicious sushi, sashimi and rolls. This place actually is the birth place of my mackerel beginnings… I am so in love with the fact that it’s a low key — comfortable dining experience, a very cozy restaurant… But the powerful flavor and ambience is a nice mini sushi get away… Don’t be judgmental of the area it is in… those are the best«diamonds in the rough».

I’ve been coming here since 2005 and I’ve enjoyed this restaurant until Natalie started serving there. This is regarding the AYCE sushi and my family and I eat there at least twice a month and we have never encountered any problems. The two older waitress always made us feel at home and welcomed us. Well this time, Natalie the server wanted to charge us our left over appetizers and counted each roll we didn’t eat(which was about 5). They have never done that to us before and we were shocked. Seems like Natalie was just on a POWER trip and wanted to all of a sudden lay down the«rules». She ALSO told me the older waitress got fired for not charging for left overs. Way to be UNPROFESSIONAL by telling us your store drama. Never going back. Just go to Sushi ONE spot in Rancho, way better food and customer service.

I’ve come here at least once a week for the past like 2 months. But here’s the deal, the fish is bomb 90% of the time and the service is excellent like 80% of the time. That’s good enough for me. I just wish their rolls were consistent. Some rolls are COMPLETELY different depending on the chef. So different to the point where one day it’s great and another day I just won’t like it. But overall great sushi, great price, and worth coming back.

Good food. Decent prices. Apparently you can only check in once in your whole lifetime to claim the free drink or ice cream.

All you can eat during lunch time is $ 19.95. Food was fresh and the service was fast and they where attentive. For being a small place in Loma Linda it sure was a great find ! Will be back to eat here.

1. Miso soup was cold. 2. Baked lobster roll was flavorless and chewy. 3. Spicy tuna rolls were FAR from fresh & loaded with imitation crab. 4. Teriyaki chicken is NOT grilled and NOT white meat. This place grossed me out!

Absolutely love this place. The food and service is great, some would say its a hole in the wall type of restaurant. The prices are very reasonable i highly recommend this place to all my family and friends.

What an AYCE gem right off the freeway. I waited for a whole week to try this place out while I was working in town and it was so worth it, between the sushi and the service it couldn’t get any better. They have a long sushi bar and also lots of tables. If Maki Yaki was close to my house I’d frequent it once a week at least and they have Soju and Hite beer which I love… Thank you Maki Yaki and folks, make sure you ring the famous BELL on your way out the door!

Wow, I’m so dissapointed w this place. This used to be the best sushi. And best service . We waited 30min+ for our food another guy walks in he orders and within 10min he got his food. We just walked out. As soon as we started walking out they brought a plate. I told them they took too long. So we left. It was slow there were no people so for them to take that long and serve someone else before us got me so mad and dissapointed. I will never come back here again. I’m not sure if they have new owners but it has gotten so bad here compared to when I used to come 3 years ago.

Four of us decided to go here because one person said they had a very good sushi, nigiri, tempura, etc all you can eat buffet. First off the restaurant has a casual atmosphere. If you’re looking for a romantic atmosphere maybe look elsewhere. The buffet was not your typical Japanese buffet. The food is not all set out pre made. Instead you are given a paper sheet to order your all you can eat items from. They are made fresh when your order goes to the sushi chef and he is generous with the size portions. Actually the nigiri and sushi rolls(especially the yummy eel nigiri) were amongst the largest I’ve come across in any Japanese buffet. I was hesitant at first ordering this way and not being able to see my buffet rolls first. Rest assured though even picky me was very happy with everything we received. We chose the food we wanted and it was very nicely presented and über fresh! The sushi chef came across as very experienced. Something to note: the rolls come 8 to an order except for some specialty rolls which come 5 to an order. The nigiri comes 2 per order. There is no sashimi! Everything you order, you are expected to finish the entire roll. Also no sharing with people at your table who did not order the buffet. Our server made this very clear to us. Plus the rules are posted on the wall and menu! You can order as much as you want and you can order from your sheet multiple times. So no worries, you’ll leave stuffed. The variety is pretty good that is offered. Some rolls had multiple fish in the rolls. Service was pretty good. As we ate our empty plates were taken away. We were also celebrating a nine year old’s birthday and our server brought out a good sized green tempura ice cream dessert with whipped cream, cherry, colorful sprinkles and a birthday candle. The buffet on the weeknights was $ 24.95. Lunch buffet is $ 19.95. The only thing I wish they had was pictures of the rolls and sashimi because I’m not an expert on everything that was available. I’d come back and make sure I was real hungry. They really offer a very good assortment of fresh sushi and nigiri, etc. for the buffet. They also have a regular menu for non buffet peeps and the entrees were reasonably priced. Unilocal Review #299
