I accidently found this little shop late one evening as I was leaving Auto Zone. I saw an African-​American woman walking into the salon… in Lombard… that’s unheardof!
So, I told my husband to turn around so I could check to see if I, indeed, saw what I thought I saw. Maybe the lady was of Indian desent… Nope. I was right.
I walked in and met the owner, Cheryl. So sweet. Big talker! I made an appointment to get my hair straightened. Press and curl, technically.
She specializes in weaves and braids, so I was a bit concerned that she didn’t know what she was in for with my hair. My hair requires skill and depth of knowledge about black hair. Mario Tricoci, Hair Cuttery, JCPenney and the likes just aren’t gonna get it.
Cheryl did a wonderful job! I have long, naturally curly, virgin hair that not everyone knows how to handle. But, she did!
I’ve been back a few times since. Same excellent service and results. I really, really, really love my stylist over in Broadview, but there is a lot to be said for the ability to drive down the street rather than fight all the traffic on 290 or Roosevelt trying to get to my appointment on time.
And, Cheryl doesn’t overbook like other salons. When I make an appointment, it’s my timeslot. Even if she is «working me in». She does a magnificent job of managing her time so that you aren’t sitting for hours with a wet head waiting for your turn. I CAN’T STAND THAT!
Plus… this is the ONLY place I know of where I can get an appointment at 8pm on a Tuesday night! And I’m home before 10!
Note: The shop is closed on Mondays.
Thank God for this shop and this magnificent stylist.
