Very slow service on a Friday night. Got the Maxfields Bennedict which is poached eggs on a potato pancake with bacon and hollandaise. It would seem almost impossible to mess up right? Well apparently it’s possible. Tasted like nothing. The pancakes were dry, bland and looked like someone had thrown a handful of powdered sugar at them. The«fruit cup» was actually a «cantaloupe cup.» Because everyone loves cantaloupe! While my wife found her omelet to be passable, everything else about the experience, from the food to the service, was a failure. We’re not willing to give Maxfield’s another shot.

I came here on a Sunday morning with a group from the Kingdom Hall. It was about 20 of us. The customer service was good and organized well for our group size. We all ordered at the same time. The soup and salad was delicious. The burger was good, even though it was huge. I wish they had smaller portions for adults who don’t have adult sized appetites. I’m a petite woman, and I don’t eat as much as an average adult. I had to end up taking the second half of my burger to go because it was too much. The food was reasonably priced for what I ordered. The kids enjoyed the chicken strips. I had to wait for a while because they didn’t wrap up the second half of my burger right away. I wonder why they close at 3 in the afternoon. That’s weird. I would love to come in the evening time for dinner, but all they have is breakfast and lunch. I would go again if I’m in the area.

Service is slow. I was hoping the food would make up for the long wait, but I was disappointed. There is nothing exceptional about this restaurant. There are many other restaurants to choose from to eat breakfast.

Great atmosphere. We were a group of five and had various dishes. Common factor unfortunately was that all the hash browns were cold. Everything else was great. Service was great.

Not a bad breakfast spot. Came here this morning with my wife. Got the corned beef hash skillet with Greek toast. My wife got the meat lovers skillet with cinnamon raisin toast. Our food came out extremely quick(like less than 10 minutes quick). It was so quick, I felt compelled to check and make sure it was fully cooked before eating anything lol. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. She regularly checked if we needed anything. The food tasted great. I noticed that they used Monterey jack cheese for the skillet which is pretty rare but it makes the skillet very cheese which is a big plus for me. The Greek toast was perfectly toasted. My wife enjoyed her skillet and toast as well. Only minor drawback to their skillets is that veggies(onion & green pepper) are not automatically included. They have to be requested. But that doesn’t detract much from the taste of the skillet. Nice, average breakfast spot if you’re looking for a quick meal.

Not pleased with this place. Ordered a chicken Caesar salad. It was practically tasteless. Their bread basket to accompany the over-priced salad is non-existent. The waitress brought me 2 rock-hard chunks of bread on a saucer. No edible bread, no crackers, no butter. How unappetizing. Service was prompt, but no accommodations were offered when I expressed concerns about the salad and lack of edible breads. The attitude was: This is all you get, pal! I won’t be back.

Nice local restaurant. Super fast service and very nice customer service. My waitress checked on me frequently and I got a cup of coffee to go at no additional charge. My meal was good. I had the veggie skillet with pancakes. The veggies were a tad bit over cooked. Not crunchy enough for me which hurts when I’m trying to make myself think I’m making a healthy meal choice. Never the less, it was good and the pancakes were okay. Lastly, I think a cup of coffee should be under $ 2.00 if it’s just regular old coffee, which their’s is, at $ 2.10 I thinks it’s a bit pricey. However, I’ll accept the $ 2.10 this time only because I got a cup to go. I would visit this place again if I’m in there area but I will stop and get coffee first.

If I ever got to dine with Anthony Bourdain and he asked me to take him to some good semi-cheapa** diner food, I’d totally take him here. I’d also request my favorite waitress: the dark haired woman who wears a flower in her hair and talks about everything with her beautiful accent. Anyways, Maxfields had just acquired new management and so far, their improvements in the menu and in the place in general is great. Their décor is from Hobby Lobby(trust me, I know this because I worked for hobby lobby for 5 years in home accents). Great ambiance. The place is always buzzing so you it has to be good. Anyway, I ordered their create your own omelet. I asked for spinach, portabella mushrooms and turkey sausage. Yummm! The omelet wasn’t dry and every time I stabbed it with my fork, the moisture from the veggies and the turkey patty bursted from it. Awesome job! And my husband got pancakes. So fluffy and good! Ahhh they know their breakfast here!

the cream of spinach soup was delicious but the turkey club deluxe was not. The bacon was already cooked so I should say it was turkey club jerky deluxe sandwich. the turkey were chunks of meat instead of layered thin slices to eat better. the bacon was like beef jerky, try cooking it fresh and taste the difference! cook fresh please!

I’ve been coming here for about a year now and am usually disappointed in the service, but the food is good so I keep returning. Today we had Ruben as our server and he was great! He was busy bussing tables and helping others out, but still made time to check on us and keep a good attitude… Definitely appreciated that!

Nice staff so I feel bad but avoid this place if you can. Pancakes look good but taste like fake sugar. Prison quality! Omelette had unmelted cheese in it. Hash browns were way undercooked as a side with omelette and in wife’s skillet. Coffee was«old people good». Very weak! I don’t understand why places can’t do overpriced easy breakfast food better. Feels like maxfields is taking advantage the good people of Lombard

I love their ham on the bone. I go there for ham and eggs a few times a month and love it. The waitresses are soooo nice. The manager just stares at you and never smiles –makes me uncomfortable. Try the soups, there great! Negatives: They have NO WiFi and no real desert menu.

I went to breakfast today with a friend and it was really good. I had been at Maxfields when they first opened and didn’t like it but thought I would give it another chance since it had been so many years plus I had a coupon. I am not sorry at all. The service was very good. The only thing I didn’t care for was the coffee. I will be back.

Here’s another example of a diner that remodeled and is asking you to pay for its renovation by overcharging you for the food. See«Butterfields» not far from here. Maxfields’ food is fine. It’s good, even. It’s standard diner fare, and overall tasty. I ordered the Maxfield’s benedict, which seemed to be made for me. There was even a cute little M on the menu that drew my eyes to it. As if to say, «Hey Grant, we made this for you! Been waitin’ for ya!» It was ok. Nothing stellar. Nothing great. The bacon was limp. The pancakes were okay. And the hash browns tasted more like oil than potato. But overall it was decent and I wasn’t disappointed. Service was good. Food was okay in that plain kind of way, but you can get the same stuff elsewhere for less. I wouldn’t say I would not return, but I see it as a place you don’t NEED to come to because there’s not really anything spectacular about the food, service or location.

Maybe it was an off day, but there seemed to be confusion between two waitresses on who would cover our table. Luckily, after sitting there over 20 minutes without being approached but being passed by numerous waitresses, an bus boy approached us and promptly served us drinks and got us a waitress. The manager did come over to verify this as well. If it wasn’t for the bus boy’s kindness we would have been out of there. Our food was good for the most part. We did order poached eggs, and they were served hard boiled. It took a really long time for us to get our food, so it was surprising how them messed that up. They did replace it for us. Otherwise food was pretty good. I am sure if we didn’t experience the terrible service I would have rated the food higher. My suggestion… don’t let them sit you in the room next to three tables with large parties. All the waitresses seemed over whelmed and ill equipped to handle large parties. My small table of 3 was overlooked, and it was a birthday breakfast ruined. Literally took us 2 hours from when we entered to leave.(We ate fast, like 30 minutes… so hope you like waiting.) Also, nothing was taken off our bill as a courtesy. I will be investing my money in other establishments in the future. Not worth the frustration.

Food was just okay. Service was horrible! The place was packed so I understand the slow service, but my waitresses attitude was awful. I ordered my sandwich without mayo, she even read no mayo back when confirming the order. When the food arrived I noticed there was mayo on both sides of the sandwich. When I told her she merely rolled her eyes and took the plate away. I’m not sure if that was directed at me or the kitchen staff? But she didn’t even apologize for the mistake. Not even when she came back with the correct order and practically dropped the plate in front of me. She maybe checked on the table once or twice the whole time I was in there. Every time she spoke to us she did do so in a patronizing tone, when she actually acknowledged us at all. I’d give one star but the bread that came with the soup was pretty great and worth a star but, not even the bread Would get me to go back.

I had driven by this place about a 1000 times without ever going in mostly due to inconvenient timings. Finally last Saturday morning driving down Roosevelt with my mom and sister decided to give this place a try, I had the feta cheese omelette, while they had the veggie omelette and French toast. Feta cheese was amazing, tried a bit of the French toast but wasn’t to impressed the pancake’s that came with my omelette were nice and thick. Our server was amazing attentive prompt and friendly. Staff all had smiles and a friendly attitude. Prices were very reasonable 30 bucks for 3 ppl. I will definitely be back again.

As far as breakfast goes, this is a must-eat. Their pancakes are the best I’ve ever had. They actually taste more like cake doughnuts than pancakes. Really tasty. I’ve also eaten off of their lunch menu and it’s scrumptious as well. Maxfields is just a nice place to stop and eat.

Maxfields is a family owned restaurant located right off of Roosevelt Rd. We started coming here a couple years ago right after the new owners took over and we have been satisfied every time! They are open for breakfast and lunch(and dinner on the weekends) but we usually get breakfast and occasionally get lunch. Everything from the breakfast menu is great, especially the delicious Nutella banana strawberry crepes. The plates are also very big and appropriately priced. For lunch we usually get burgers; I highly recommend the Texas and Bistro turkey burgers. They all come with soup and fries(waffle, regular) or fruit and homemade bread. They even have a good selection of beer and wine. The staff is always friendly and always get our orders right. The owners are so personable and are always going around talking to their customers. They even have a BAKERY inside with muffins and cookies and cakes and everything sweet, prepared with family recipes!!! Maxfield’s is our #1 breakfast spot in the area!

Came here for brunch on a Saturday late mornning/early afternoon. This is a very spacey restaurant, but we still had to wait 5 minutes before we got seated(even when there were many open tables). This is a casual diner. Our waitress was nice. Our food was served pretty quickly after we ordered them. The portions are HUGE! My husband ordered a cream of rice soup in a bowl, and it was so big. He and I couldn’t finish it. I ordered the popeye skillet. Lots of potatoes and bacon which is good, but I wish there was more spinach and mushrooms. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy — it came with 6 biscuits!!! So much food for not an expensive price! We had a lot of food leftover. Food is decent. You get your money’s worth since they give you so much.
