Good food. Good service. Tasty char broiled hot dogs. Keep up the great work Peter!

Tried a gyro here recently and did not care for it. Meat had a strange after taste and was peppery and i did not care for the sauce.

If you’re looking for a good gyro or hot dog, this is your place. Located on Roosevelt Road in Lombard, this simplistic hot dog eatery has a certain flare out them. Have gone here several times for lunch, and a though they have a large lunch crowd, their speedy service is more than appreciated. If you’re not counting calories, then you have to try their fries. Crunchy, not too soggy, delicious and hand cut — it’s a perfect pairing. Additional bonus? Everything is really clean and well kept. I would recommend Wolfy’s to anyone.

Spic ‘n span, red & white, 50s diner-styled, hot dog joint. You can get real Chicago hot dogs here(in Lombard!) with the works … right down to the bright green relish and celery salt. Can I get an Amen? But let me tell you something … you must get the FRIES. The fries are outstanding! If you know me, you know I usually pick at french fries(unless they are authentic Belgian fries). I’ve never had the crazy love for fries. But I would go back to Wolfy’s just to get the fries! They are hand cut. They are fresh. They are crisp. They are FLAVORFUL. They are not greasy. I don’t know what the heck they fry them in, but I’m telling you … it’s magic.

Great little place. Not much in way of unique atmosphere or menu selection, but what it does, it does very well. Food: Good stuff! I’ve had most of the things on their menu, but for me the highlights are their burgers, their gyros, and their onion rings. Gyros are sliced right off the spit, and the pita has a wonderful texture to it. Burgers have just the right amount of char flavor, and they’re served on a brioche bun with just a hint of sweetness. And the onion rings… Best I’ve had in over a decade. Beer-battered, battered and fried to order. Fries are great, too… Fresh cut. You can taste the difference. Service: The only reason that it’s not five stars. Not that it’s bad or anything, but I’ve been a regular here since it opened up last year, the same manager takes my order every time, and never particularly friendly. Not unfriendly, just a little cold and aloof. Atmosphere: Always pristine in its cleanliness, but at the end of the day, it’s still just a hot dog joint. Price: Very reasonable. For my wife and I to eat here, it costs about $ 14. That’s including sides and drink… I’d be shocked if somebody managed to go above $ 8 max for their full meal. Overall: I love this place. So far I’ve not had anything that was less than great, it’s always been clean, and the prices are low. Don’t expect particularly warm service, but again, it’s just impersonal… Not bad.

I’ve only been here once. For the price it’s not too bad, in fact, it’s one of the only places around that has poppy-seed buns. Seriously, what happened to having a hot dog on a poppy-seed bun? The food was prepared to order and was hot and fresh. A small order of fries is more than one could want. Overall I give Wolfy’s 5 stars for the food, and 3 stars for the value(prices seemed kind of high).

Nice and clean with quick service for food that seems to be fresher than from a lot of other places. Very friendly folks. The menu is pretty expansive for such a tiny space. Oh and you get your money’s worth — large portions and rather inexpensive. I tried the gyros and they were pretty standard. DH had some sort of meat item along with the triple stack fries, which I think might have murderous tendencies. I was hoping for more from my long lost friend, Merkt’s cheese spread, but it wasn’t quite there, texture-wise. Still tasty, though. Somewhere we will probably go back to because it is close and it seems worthwhile to try some other items from the menu.

This place has intrigued me for a long time so we finally stopped in. Pros: Very clean Cool look Simple menu My husband had the special which was a spicy burger– he really liked it Cons: I didn’t like the fries at all– too soggy This was the chewiest and toughest hot dog I have ever had– I have no idea why it was like that but it was pretty gross. Even the pizza puff was soggy and different than you’d get anywhere else– even though it’s just frozen and they deep fry it We had read that the service was very friendly but that was not our experience at all We’ll stick with other local hot dog joints but are glad that Wolfys has many other fans!

Saw this place when I was at the Cadillac car show across the street and I was thinking, «wow, all these retro cars really make me want some 1950’s diner food. What’s that over there? A cute looking restaurant with red and white booths? Let’s check it out!» Sure enough, it totally had a retro vibe going and it was impeccably clean. Sorry, Portillos. I think I found my new favorite burger and hot dog joint. Reasons why this trumps other hot dog/burger restaurants: 1. Clean floor and really friendly cashiers 2. THECHICAGODOGHASALLTHEINGREDIENTS, INCLUDINGCELERYSALT!!! 3. No krinkly fries that look like they came from a bag, that’s right. Real, perfectly crispy straight cut fries. Delicious! 4. Huge portions and decent prices 5. Burger was decently assembled and huge 6. The shake was made with real ice cream!!!(yup, it’s true.) Wolfy’s, you rock. Thank you for existing. I hereby give you the go ahead to put your establishment in my town so I don’t need to drive as far when the junk food craving hits.

I’ve had the opportunity to try the double cheeseburger here, in this case I tried it with Mertz cheese, this was fantastic. The bun was soft, the beef was well prepared, juicy and flavorful. The cheese really compliments the burger well, all of the condiments on it properly matched the flavor of the burger. This burger is actually better than their hot dog. I was very impressed!

I freaking love Wolfy’s. My boyfriend and I decided to drop in here a few weeks ago, and now we’re addicts. Their beef sandwiches are(get this, it’s crazy) made with LEAN meat! Yay! No picking off blubby things or finding hard things in the meat. It’s lean, shaved delicious beef in a perfect portion. I really like their Philly beef: it’s basically a regular italian beef but with sweet peppers and caramelized onions, with the cheese on the bottom, how it should be! Beware, however, the size of their fries are enormous! One side of fries easily feeds two people. It’s ridiculous. Also, their cheese fries are a big flop; they have some sort of gourmet cheddar sauce that tastes like how socks smell. Blech. We go there a lot and it’s always great! Love their greek salad, too. And they have Green River! :)

One of my favorites in the area. The owners are extremely nice and take the time to chat and joke around with you. The food is excellent and they give you plenty for your money. I’m a huge gyros fan, and this place sells the best gyros in the area, in my opinion. They pile the pita high with meat and fill bags FULL of fries with the meal combo. The place itself is immaculate and the staff are usually seen out front cleaning when they’re not needing to take or fill orders. The food arrives fast and the fries are extremely hot when they’re served. All and all, I am now a loyal regular to Wolfy’s.

Had gone to this place before when it was named something else… It used to be fairly overpriced, standard hot-dog/beef/burger joint with some decent gyros. Short version: HIGHLYRECOMMENDED! Great service, clean and friendly dining room, and really good, reasonably priced food. Read on for the details… The wife wanted to give it a try for a while, so we all(two adults and two kids under 7 and a baby) packed up on a Sunday afternoon(along with my sister in law, her husband and their son), and walked in. First off, their renovations, while not radically different from the original, were superb. The place looks spotless, the restroom was immaculate, and the whole place seemed brand-new, which is pretty good for a dog joint that used to be a dive-ier dog joint. Secondly, we placed our order. Fairly large for the amount of people we brought, too. The food came pretty quickly(important for three kids under 10) and was amazing. The portions were perfect(I had the gyros, the wife had a hot dog, as did the kids)! Big, but not monstrously so. The woman taking our order was SONICE! She seemed to genuinely love working there, and loved serving us!(Again, rare for bringing in three kids and a large order!) The food was SOGOOD! My gyros were not dried and lame, they were juicy(but not in a greasy way), the just-right amount of onion, the sauce was GREAT! Everyone else seemed to love their hot dogs… but the kicker here was the fries.(And it’s only for adult orders, apparently… the kids fries were pretty plain, but still good!) The fries were just slightly overcooked(which is wonderful) so they were browned without being burned. They were salted with a coarse salt(soooo goood) and really were just perfect. The fries alone were worth it, but everything else was soooo good too. They gave us tatoos and cookies for the kids(who doesn’t love that?!) and the food, service, and property were spot-on. I was super-impressed and will definitely come back again.

Had a coupon for Wolfy’s so I thought I would give it a try. My wife and I walked in and were immediately pleased to see how clean the place was. There was plenty of seating and all the tables were clean. We had a coupon for buy one get one half price for their Italian beef. We split an order of fries. The food came out in about five minutes. Not too long of a wait. My wife loved the beef sandwich but I thought it to be average. Not spicy enough for me. Don’t get me wrong here. It was good beef just not the best. On the other hand the fries were fantastic! Super crisp on the outside and nice and moist on the inside. We will definitely be back to Wolfy’s to try their other food offerings.

Wolfy’s is the truth, plain and simple. I stopped over at Wolfy’s on Friday right during the little mini blizzard we were getting, and wonder why it took me so long! I remember driving by a couple times a week, when it was still coined ‘Brandy’s’, and always had the inkling to stop by. Now Brandy’s has closed, and Wolfy’s has taken it’s rightful place. As soon as you get in, the first thing you notice is the retro 50’s style diner feel, as well as the sight of complete cleanliness. I swear, the place was spotless when I walked in, which is something a lot of divey joints around the area lack. Now I don’t knock a place for a little grime as long as the food is good, but this was a pretty big plus for me. My brother and I were greeted at the counter by a very pleasant woman running the cashier, and you could tell from the get go that she had a great attitude and a very respectable and meticulous way of running the place. I ordered a dipped beef with hot peppers, and my brother ordered the 2 hot dog combo. The food was brought out fairly quickly, and was decently portioned. I really enjoyed the beef. The recipe is pretty standard for an italian beef around Chicago, in which the juice is basically made to compliment the beef, but it was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor, and while it looked kind of skimpy at the first glimpse, they piled on the meat. The giardiniera I believe is made in house as well. While I do enjoy a very spicy giardiniera, this one was a bit on the more mild side, but it went perfectly with the sandwich, and was very fresh and crunchy. Definitely recommended. My brother’s dogs looked pretty damn tasty too, and every singly topping from the sport peppers to the pickle, looked to be at the peak of their freshness. Something you don’t see very often at fast food joints. The fries were some of the best I’ve had, and easily the closest thing to Mr. D’s style, in cut, portion, taste, and texture. So potatoey and crispy, they were absolutely perfect. I’d say they are equal to Mr. D’s. I even got the hint that they make their own ketchup, because it was a little tart, but very sweet and just didn’t taste like bottled ketchup to me. All this time the woman at the cashier was creating a very pleasant atmosphere, and keeping the entire restaurant spotless. She even asked me if my beef was juicy enough to my liking, which it was, and which was a level of service I haven’t experienced at a fast food dive, in, well… ever. The attention to detail at Wolfy’s is awesome, and made it a very enjoyable experience. They even have two flat screens on either end of the store, playing ESPN when I walked in. The only think I can knock about them is that the root beer I got from the machine was very unsweetened and watered down, which was strange. But it was most likely due to them running out of syrup for the machine, which is understandable. The food was even brought to our table. Everyone in the store was raving about what they ordered, which is a sign of true quality. If you’re in the area, don’t even think about skipping Wolfy’s. From the service, the freshness and quality of the food, and even the atmosphere, it is definitely the best little fast food dive to dine at in the Lombard/Glen Ellyn/Wheaton area. That’s why it gets 5 stars from me.

5 stars. Excellent food. Excellent value. Today was coupon day, I guess. I opened one of those mass mailers and decided to take advantage of some them. One of the coupons was for this joint. My son said he was hungry, so I decided to forego the grocery store and just grab something quick. I got the chicken gyro and the italian beef. Both combos. Fries were pretty good. Hubby had the beef and said it was good, but«not as great as Portillo’s.» I had the chicken gyro — FABULOUS! Probably one of the best ever. The pita was perfect — fresh and chewy. The chicken was flavorful, moist, and jam-packed into the gyro. Definitely enough for two people.(get an extra pita, though) Skip the Honey Mustard… a little more lettuce wouldn’t have hurt, either. Next time… Overall, I’m so glad that I decided to check this place out. It will certainly be added to the rotation.

Little place with big flavor. Very retro feeling, with 50s tunes playing and a whole red-and-white diner motif. Very clean, a little chilly the night we were there. The menu’s pretty basic — hot dogs, burgers, beef, gyros, fries, shakes, and a token salad or two. For me, a gyro — jam-packed full of meat, slivers of onion, sauce, plus three sad anemic tomatoes on top(well, it is December). The pita was soft and a little chewy, very good overall. For him, 2 hot dogs and fries. I had to snag some fries, of course — and they were excellent. Crispy but not too crispy, skin-on, nice and potatoey. Prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is cheery if a bit sterile, and the guy behind the counter was super-friendly. We’ll certainly be back for more quick and tasty eats.

It seems to be a new trend in fast food to focus on fries(smashburger, meat market, milettes, etc.) and make them memorable. Yes, portillos makes good fries, but wolfys makes great fries. Potatoey and just crisp enough. The rest of the food is pretty good too. Combo might be a bit too much, probably would go with just a sausage next time. The place is clean, modern in a retro way and the staff is outstanding. We will be back
