Friendly hostess immediately welcomed us into a «beachy», laid back atmosphere. The warehouse interior opens up to a «fun house» backyard patio with jenga, corn hole, darts, and other games. There’s even complimentary sunscreen to complete the setting. Water is offered at no cost, and my group received complimentary wine glasses at the end of our visit. The separated patio perhaps doesn’t allow for intimidate conversation with the winemakers, but if that’s what you’re looking for there’s plenty of space inside of the main building. Can definitely get lost in this venue for hours… just don’t let it put you off exploring the rest of Lompoc’s famous Wine Ghetto.

I love Montemar! We have met the owners, Steve and Caryn, at a couple of wine events. They are wonderful people. Their wine is awesome too which is a great bonus. When you visit the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, you must stop by their tasting room. It is a pleasant space with a really nice backyard full of games, a beach and a stage for entertainment. Last week we visited the tasting room and met Michele. She is the tasting room manager and she treated us like long lost friends. Thanks, Michele for making us feel welcome.

It is not often you get the winemaker to give you a lesson on how to make wine. Thank you Steve for the education on the different ways to make Rose. Wonderful wines and a great time as always!

Amazing wines. Michelle stayed open late and did not disappoint. We were fortunate enough to have Steve the winemaker drop by who gave us a class on his craft. A true professional and all around great guy. Don’t bother with the rest, hit up the best… Montemar.

Really nice small winery in the Lompoc wine ghetto. The wine was great. The winemaker’s wife was working– very nice! Great little family owned spot with a fun back patio with all kinds of games(giant jenga, etc). Not pretentious all… just good wine and nice people-great cheese selection too.

If you’re here with friends for wine crawling, you have to stop here! The backyard area has for hole, darts, jenga, and comfy beanbag chairs in a sand pit. They also have cheese boards and charcuterie that was unfortunately missed out on. We did the normal wine tasting(not the Pinot) and my boyfriend ended up taking home a Sauvignon blanc. We didn’t want to leave :(but had to keep crawling!

I have been to Italy, France and Spain, 3 world fairs, and a bar in New Orleans and I’ve never seen anything like this place. Also, the proprietor is a mighty fine gentleman and winemaker. The wines are at the top! The interior and the outside wine-tasting area are decorated so wonderful. You may want to put Montemar on your Bucket List of places to go — it’s a destination!

My girlfriend I went tasting in the Wine Ghetto. She loves Pinots and I like Rhones. We found Montemar on Unilocal and it was perfect. Brittney, the server, was very knowledgable about all the wines. My girlfriend loved all three Pinots that she tried. This i the first winery that i’ve loved everything i tried. Because we were on a long road, we unfortunately could not buy a lot of wine, but we did grab a couple of bottles and headed over to the nearby Scratch Kitchen restaurant, which was highly recommended to us by Brittney and the food was outrageous. Only $ 5 corkage fee.

Great wine and great people more than happy to educate you about the wine. The wines here are great! I have never had such young wines that are amazing and the normal aged wines are fantastic. This place is a must! Ones of the absolute best in the wine ghetto. I bet they will expand out.
