I hadn’t lived in Lompoc very long & was looking forward to trying this little place. Well I was very disappointed for sure. The people working seem to only want to serve their local customers. Waited forever for the salad I ordered & had to send it back because I asked for no cheese. Waited again forever to remake it & the lady brought me a plate with only their old iceberg lettuce mix, I guess forgetting everything else on the salad, I ordered the Cobb. So finally got my salad & it was pretty gross! Nothing seemed fresh, lettuce was old, all the meat was just chopped up lunch meat, & the hard boiled egg was so disgusting with an entirely grey yolk! I took a couple bites since I was starving & left the rest. Then of course as I was leaving I accidentally spilled my coffee that I got to go in front of the restaurant & went inside to tell them that I was sorry & wanted to let them know there was coffee spilled. The guy working looked kind of annoyed & just said he’ll clean it up, never offering me a refill or anything. I don’t know how a place like that can stay in business?! I will not go back.

Great breakfast burritos! One of my coworkers picked up a bunch of to-go orders early on a Sunday morning. Service was fast and everyone loved their food. I highly recommend this café.

Well 3rd or 4th time at this establishment, as always Food and service is amazing. Their Breakfast Burritos are well made and full of meat. The Salsa is always impeccable, my preference is the hot… always on or list of Sunday eateries.

We went in this morning to get some breakfast burritos to go, as this place has the best burritos! The service, on the other hand, can be pretty hit or miss. They’re very friendly, but kind of oblivious. The guy gave us some menus, and we pretty much got right back in the line to order as we knew what we wanted. There was a lady taking photos of the staff, so we stood back as we waited to place our order. It seemed like it would be a quick process-take a photo of the gathered staff and be done. She proceeded to take forever taking about 10 photos. It’s a small business, and maybe they were being featured in something, but I’m sure there was a better time than 10am on a Sunday when they were incredibly busy. While we were standing back and waiting on the photo shoot to end, people from a few tables came to the front to pay their tickets. They were standing in the doorway between the dining area and the front, and the way everyone moved after the photo shoot, they all got in front of us. The guy who takes orders and cashiers knew we had been waiting, but he didn’t bother to tell the other customers that we were first. The whole thing took forever, and they ended up giving me a sausage burrito instead of the bacon burrito that I ordered, but I didn’t realize that until we got home. It was delicious, as they always are, it just wasn’t what I wanted. If you’re looking for a delicious breakfast burrito, definitely try this place – just maybe not when you’re super hungry and irritable.

The service feels a little forced at times. Overly emotional and too enthusiastic. The food is great and the location is excellent. On top of that, the unique coffee drinks hits the spot since it’s more of a breakfast/lunch place than a coffee bar. Great coffee drink menu. Great place. Service can feel awkward. Have seen employees taking shots of espresso behind the counter. Doesn’t feel on par with health codes.

I was Looking for a coffee shop and was pleasantly surprised to find this little place ground their coffee beans per order. The owner made me a chocolate mint mocha, it was delicious with just the right amount of flavor, the milk was frothed perfectly as it was so creamy and the espresso was smooth. I own a coffee shop in Michigan and also roast my own coffee beans so I can say this place is really good. Looking more like a restaurant instead of a coffee shop I just had to try the breakfast. Again I must say it was awesome. The food is fresh with good presentation, there was plenty of it too. The owners and staff are so kind and hospitable. I never had to ask for more water during my meal and the checked on me often. The owner is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and now he and his wife are continuing to give themselves to «us» by working on their business making sure«we» are well fed and happily on our way, until the next time. Thank you David and Rachel for your service as you thanked me for mine. I was stationed at Vandenburg AFB30 years ago and so happy to visit my daughter who is stationed their now. I will be back again and know if you go you will not be disappointed. One way or another the Village Coffee Stop is sure to please.

Very bland food. I wish there was a good coffee shop or place to eat in the Village. I gave it 3 stars for the owners niceness. seems like a nice guy.

2nd Visit, some good, some not so… Nice little hole in the wall place, quaint and friendly. Table vinyl cloths looked lumpy, should have been replaced a year or more ago. Ordered Lunch: Their signature Burger and Fries, and a Pastrami with Potatoe Salad on the side. Both sandwiches were good, but especially the fries and Potatoe Salad, they were awesome! Top burger bun was a little too large, giving you too much bread, but otherwise very tasty. Pastrami seemed a bit too dry, but tasted fine. Spoke to the cooks giving them a little feedback, which they welcomed. One thing really bothered me, however, one of the servers bussing a table, when setting the knife and fork out she would touch the fork by the tine rather than the handle. Since the table was right next to us, I brought this to her attention. She sluffed it off saying she washed her hands. No excuse in my book, she should be wearing gloves or at the very least be handling the utensils by their handles only.

This is a small but cozy café with the friendliest staff I’ve ever seen, the food was delicious, tasted homemade and you get a lot of food for the low price. The owner greets you and makes you feel at home!

We’ve been there probably 8 times. First few were great, but service and food quality had dropped off drastically. Breakfast this morning was served well after a table of regulars was, and they had arrived 10 minutes after us. Food was cold, bacon and hash browns were burned to a crisp, over easy eggs had hard yolks, pancakes were dense and cold. No apology when poor service and food quality was brought up to the owner of the restaurant. I wish it wasn’t going downhill so fast, as it’s the only other breakfast in the Village beside Village Burger. Very sad.

Wow. Home of the true«village burger». I’m not sure why I never ate here. I usually always swing by in the a.m. for coffee but never food. I am really glad I did. In the future if I want a burger and fries… I’m heading to the village stop café! Posting a pic shortly.

Driving on highway 1 from Lompoc to Vandenberg AFB, you’ll have to drive around the back of the Vandenberg Village Shopping Center to get to this local favorite! The Ybarra family welcomes you with a friendly smile, and offers a wonderful and generously portioned selection of breakfast items, to include the chorizo scramble, eggs Benedict and the village stop breakfast(eggs to order w/choice of bacon or sausage, with potatoes and toast). Law enforcement officers and military personnel will feel at home here — BOLO for their specials: their menudo is amazing! Regular and flavored coffee are always served hot… and speaking of hot: be sure to ask for their hot homemade salsa! Call ahead to pick up a breakfast burrito to-go! Salsa can be ordered in the burrito, but sometimes it can get a little wet, so I’d recommend ordering it on the side if you’re picky about that sort of thing. There’s a large room available for special occasions too! Overall this is a great family-owned restaurant — consider this for your next breakfast or lunch when traveling along the Central Coast. Military discount available.

I had the chile verde omelet, it was good. Eggs were cooked fluffy. The verde wasn’t as spicy as I would like, but it was NOT lacking flavor! The home frys were deep-fried and crunchy, came with pepper/onions sprinkled over top. Came with sourdough bread that was perfect, toasted with butter covering the whole piece. The service was excellent. I had multiple server ask how my food was, and my glass was never empty.

We have tried to like this place on many occasions, as it is a very convenient spot to eat. We have been disappointed every time. After today’s breakfast experience, however, I’m done with this place. The food is mediocre at best(except fort the breakfast burritos). I’ve had: eggs benedict, chili verde omelet, tri-tip omelet — plus hash browns and home fries. Not once have I been impressed enough to order any of these items a second time. Today, we had a chili verde and tri-tip omelet. The meat was dry and bland. My kids had pancakes, which were rubbery. So, we might even forsake decent food for convenience. But this place will eek every penny out of you. A super small salsa is 75 cents. It does not come with any meal, like the omelets even though they are served with tortillas. I understand that they need to make money, and I don’t mind paying. But dang it, if I have to pay I’d like to get one big enough to go with the meal, instead of ordering three. They also say they have a military discount, which is very appreciated, but it only applies to the«numbered» meals, which we did not know. I’ve only ever had adequate service here. The owner is friendly with the regulars, but I guess is not interested in those of us who might become regulars. I’m embarrassed that I took my family there this morning for such a lousy breakfast. McDonalds would have been better, and that’s sad.

UPDATE: 24 March. .. I have bumped up my rating on VCS. Why? They consistently serve an outstanding breakfast, and their customer service is excellent. BUT, I’m gonna be watching their lunches closely!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I give the VCS4-stars based on their wonderful breakfasts. .. 2-stars for their mediocre lunches. .. 3-star average. Facility, etc.: PROS: Excellent service; friendly staff; reasonable prices; it’s in VVillage! CONS: They MUST go to war against the flies in this place! Avoid sitting near the windows!!! Seriously, every time I come here there are flies. Otherwise, seating is a little cramped, so don’t plan on any privacy in a conversation. Food: PROS: I love the breakfast burritos! Excellent flavor and ingredients – the hot salsa is superb! Also, the lunch special burritos are excellent. CONS: They need to make breakfast available 24 – 7, because the lunch fare(I am focusing on their sammies) just isn’t that great. To wit, their sammies are marginal in size and lack in flavor. I have tried the BLT(or club, can’t remember because it just wasn’t that remarkable) and the pastrami. In both cases, the bread never seems fresh(the BLT/Club bread was over-toasted), and the pastrami was a disaster, both in quality/quantity of pastrami(and they offer it with mayo — mayo on pastrami? Really)? Let’s sum it up: superb breakfast place and the service is great — but they got a ways to go to get their sandwich menu up to par!!! Eradicate those flies! RS
