I’ve driven by this place for years and finally went in for dinner. I ordered a martini which arrived at room temperature. We ordered 3 apps. The chicken livers were dry and over cooked. The sauerkraut balls were mushy and served with cheap 1000 island dressing. The fried pickles were under the heat lamp too long. Ordered the prime rib. It was slightly over cooked and served with what tasted like beef bouillon. The side of onion rings were obviously frozen. Also ordered a walleye fish sandwich which was mediocre at best. The only good thing was the side of house made potato chips and the service(friendly but not timely).

My parents and I went to this quaint, historic restaurant recently after an event in London. It’s got some historical flair from being an inn on the National Road. Apparently some presidents stayed there many moons ago. Anyway, they have a wide spectrum of homemade foods. I had spaghetti and meatballs. And there were like 10 meatballs. I was amazed. Usually you get, like, two meatballs anywhere else you go so I was pleased. Mom got the grilled chicken and Dad got the Red Brick Burger which was HUGE. About $ 10 for a meal and it was a great price for the amount of food. The décor is old and the place needs some work on the inside. It could be so much better with a little love. Same with the service. Our waitress was late to our table and took awhile to take our orders but she was super nice. Anyway, if you’re ever in London, check it out for some decent, homemade(and cheap!) food.

I love this place! It’s so traditional. Co worker and I were working late and this guy in the store we never met says we went and had dinner at the Red Brick Tavern. It’s delicious. So we drive 3 miles and it was so good. The chicken pot pie and the roast is delicious. This is my 6th time in the area and always make sure to visit. You have to check this place out.

I love the location of this place and I dig the décor, but I’m not impressed with their menu and prices. They are going for the gastropub feel with the menu and picking every item you want instead of having a meal option. That is fine, I don’t mind that, but their prices for their portions and what you get are just meh. They had some great menu items when we first started going there shortly after opening and they have done away with those. The last time we were there, we went with friends to show them how great it was and the food was not good. I think for just an average bar food place, the prices are too high so I’ll find somewhere else to spend more money on a hot dog or burger.

I’ve eaten at some really great places and some really bad ones. Food is a hobby of mine. I try and commit myself to excellence when I cook and try and remember flavors and accurately taste things. I’m not pretentious about food though as I love shredded chicken or bologna sandwiches. I often make subpar food and admit it. However, have a pet peeve: restaurants that charge higher than average prices for their food and let the quality of food slip away. If I’m paying over a dollar a wing, I don’t want the cheap frozen breaded ones that are really small with a little red hot splashed on them. Honestly, frozen, fried appetizers might taste awesome some days, but please people, demand more quality or less price for them and don’t let places like this The bartender is not friendly. He doesn’t write anything down, which is cool, unless you keep forgetting things and screwing things up. Three meals here and he had several mistakes each time. We didn’t ask him to correct them because he acts put off if we do. The time we had burgers and bologna sandwiches the food was good. Every other time it’s been poor. Girlfriend had Chicken the other night that was chewy and had a weird flavor. I’m willing to bet some of their food is good, but everything we’ve experienced has been subpar to poor. I just think this place is in a rut and nobody really cares about service or food anymore.

I can’t complain at all about this place! I love in Columbus and make the trip quite frequently to eat here. Their French onion soup is the best I have ever had.

My son lives in Columbus and we live in Springfield. Thought this would be a great meeting spot to celebrate a birthday. I was so impressed with the staff to accommodate a party of 9 so quickly. The service was fantastic(thanks Lana). We were all impressed with our food, My husband had the prime rib he said it was awesome, my daughter had the ribs, fall off the bone delicious! We also enjoyed the appetizers ! Other members of the party had sandwiches and pasta dishes and there were no complaints and plenty of leftovers. The cinnamon rolls are fabulous. I can’t believe I have lived so close to this place all these years and have never gone, The bar area has the feeling of «cheers»…Everyone knows your name. You kinda expected to hear someone yell NORM!!! I fear writing to much about it, don’t want to spoil the charm. Stop by and try this place, you could mistake it for a old house so easily by the outside, but inside it is like home, On top of all the history this building holds, the people who work there are so friendly! The bartender has been there for 32 years! What a great little restaraunt. I will go back again.

I live 2+ hours from the Red Brick Tavern. I was on the area last week and decided to stop. They were closed for vacation! :( That’s ok, I’ll be coming this way again next week. :) Pulled up today and they weren’t opening for another hour! :( Spent some time in the nearby town and came back. Sat down and over heard the waitress tell the table behind me that they don’t have any French Onion Soup.(Which was the ONLY thing I planned to order … it’s the BEST!) When I asked the waitress of they had French Onion Soup, she said, no. I’m sorry, we’ve been closed. When I told her that is all I was going to order, she went back to the kitchen and came back out, telling me it would be ready in a half hour.(They had it started, just not ready) Yay! I sure hope it’s worth all of this. Ordered seafood alfredo and so far it’s a little bland. Needs more garlic. Very nice waitress!

Great atmosphere, food was not amazing, but was decent. Just based on the atmosphere of old country and friendly locals we would go back.

We have eaten there twice in a month. I have ordered the prime rib both times. Perfect. Service was superb. The second time there. We walked in and the dining room we had eaten at the first time was full, there was a party going on. ANC the bar area was pretty full and noisy. We decided to leave. We got out the door there was a gentleman outside in the courtyard doing something. He ask if we weren’t taken care of. I said it was pretty crowded. He said there was another dining room. And took us back in and seated us. It turns out he was one of the owners. He talked to us for a while. The waitress got our drinks and dinner order. We had a great time. Was treated like king and queen. It’s an old place lot of history. Will for sure eat there again.

Stopped in for dinner on a weeknight and we were pleasantly surprised. While the dining room was open and only had one other couple seated, we opted to sit in the bar area. There were only a few people there and I was annoyed by a very loud woman at the bar but she left shortly after we were seated. We each ordered beers and were served promptly. Based on the menu, I was a little more skeptical about the quality of the food than husband; he ordered the ribeye and I(not very hungry) ordered the chicken strips and the cheesy fries appetizer. I was proved(mostly) wrong– the steak he ordered was fantastic… Perfectly cooked at medium well with onion straws and horseradish sauce. I had major food envy. While my cheesy fries were incredibly cheesy and delicious, the chicken strips weren’t great. All in all a good experience and a great value. Just over $ 40 for dinner for 2 including two beers each. We’ll come back. And next time I’m getting a steak.

Went today for the buffet; had been years ago with my dad and aunt. It’s better than I remember, and it wasn’t bad then. It’s in a very old building, nicely preserved. For $ 15, the buffet was darn good. Assorted salads, cooked veggies, pork chops, made-to-order omelets and waffles, real mashed potatoes, chicken and dumplings, tilapia, eggs benedict, bacon, etc., etc. Chicken livers, which along with beef liver seem to be a favorite here but I’m still not a convert… Dried beef gravy, which I’ve never had but is a close cousin of sausage gravy and was quite good, as were the biscuits. Pretty much all of it was better than most buffets, though I like eggs benedict and was disappointed in this pre-made version. If the cinnamon rolls are their specialty I’m underwhelmed. Good, not great. But almost everything else was really good. Call it fancy comfort food, and call me when it’s ready…

Tell ya a story. I was a little boy in this little town. 40’s and 50’s. Am still close. The only thing that’s changed in this historic Tavern are the clothes and hair styles. I gave extra star for the ‘bar’. Tucked over on the west side; it’s a warm, cozy, local favorite. The food is good to excellent depending on your tastes. Go over and get a Martini and try the stuffed mushrooms. Or a snowy night by the fireplace with a cocktail. And there’s a dozen Burger variations. Come hungry.
