Nagwa is amazing! She’s professional, quick, and patient. I brought in 12 pairs of jeans and a jump suit on a Wednesday and they are all ready for pick up this Friday!
My good friend has been telling me about her expertise in hemming and trimming and now I see why. Nagwa takes her time making sure that you are comfortable with the length and with the fit. She even took in my waistline because it was bubbling in the back. She’s a true pioneer in her field and knows how I like my jeans to fit. She constantly look in the mirror to see how I look and make adjustments accordingly. She may be a bit more expensive compared to a dry cleaner who does alteration but you’re paying for quality of service and craftsmanship.
Her alteration room is located in the back of a shop and there’s no sign or advertisement. A gem!

I have been going to Nagwa for years. I was introduced to her by the gals that run La Bella. I have always been happy with Nagwa’s craftsmanship and my expectations are always met. I am 5′ 3″ so almost all my pants require alterations. I have tried many folks in Long Beach and she is the best as it relates to the work quality, reliability, availability, consistent store hours, etc.

the items i took here i had to have redone, but i give her an extra star for being close by. oh, i took a star away as she is not there on weekends.

I went to Nagwa after finding her here on Unilocal,and she was great. I brought her my wedding dress and a couple of bridesmaid dresses.
She not only did a perfect job on my wedding dress (she hemmed it and took it in at the bust, and it required some hand beading) and the other girls dresses she give us a great price. I couldn’t be happier with the results. thank you!!!

i do not understand who this lady thinks she caters to. she quoted me $ 100 to hem & take in a dress!!! that was more than the cost of the dress itself! when i told her i wanted to get another estimate, she was so put off & pissed while removing the pins from my dress. honestly, she spent not even 10 mins helping me & she acted like i wasted her whole day or something… so lame. i would never go back or recommend her to anyone: P

I took my butchered wedding gown to Nagwa after reading all the great reviews on her work. I cannot even begin to explain how WONDERFUL Nagwa is. She is definitely a miracle worker in her craft!!!
She knew right away that my previous so-​called alterations were a mess. She noticed that it still wasn’t completely fitted to my body and she actually took the time to listen to the other things I wanted to add/​change to my dress, that the previous seamstress did not want to do for me. In less two weeks, she was able to transform my wedding dress nightmare into the dress of my dreams!
Bonuses: She does love a challenge, she’s great at following up with you to let you know your dress is ready, she’s the sweetest lady you’ll feel like you’ve known her for years, AND her prices are VERY reasonable for the amount of work you ask her to do.
I would’ve saved myself $ 500 bucks in alterations had I known about Nagwa first! Thanks to the previous reviewers and Nagwa’s expertise… I can walk down the aisle on my wedding day feeling beautiful and confident in my newly altered wedding gown! You’ll be amazed at how fast she can get things done!

I took my wedding gown in to be altered by Nagwa and I couldn’t be more pleased. The bridal stores charge you so much more to get your alterations done in house, so I decided to come to Alterations and Design, based on her glowing reviews. She went above and beyond in helping me out, even working with me with pricing. Due to an unexpected surgery right before the wedding, I had lost weight drastically, and needed the dress to be taken in a couple days before the wedding, which is unheard of, considering how much work is involved in taking in a wedding dress.
She was able to finish the dress in time, and it looked amazing. You would have never known it had been taken in two inches on each side, and the train we ended up designing came out great.
I will recommend all of my friends to Nagwa, she’s truly talented and so sweet!

I have been going to Nagwa Abadir for a long time– more then 5 years. She’s consistently patient and detailed with her alterations. She has given me great ideas on how to make a dress or pair or pants she is tailoring for me look better. I find her friendly, helpful and pleasant. There have been times when she has quoted me a date for finished work and she would call me much sooner, indicating it was done and ready for pick-​up.
Her prices are very fair given her exceptional experience and talent.
She’s awesome in her expertise and I trust her with virtually everything. I have sent others there too.

I just had some new jeans hemmed here. She did a great job; she sews back on the original jean bottoms to avoid that «hemmed» look. Nagwa was really patient while I tried on the jeans with different heel heights. It took about 3 days and cost $ 40 for two pairs of jeans. Although it’s cheaper to take them somewhere else, I felt that it was worth it to have jeans done here.

I took my Halloween costume to Nagwa on Tuesday to be altered and I didn’t need it back till a week. I got a call 2 days later and it was ready. If you need something custom fitted, take it to Nagwa; she’ll handle it. I attempted to take my costume to the local dry cleaners where the Korean lady hems my pants but she refused to take in the sides of my costume. I paid $ 50 for the alterations but I was pleased with how it fits me perfectly. Nagwa also showed me that she does hemming on jeans to keep the original bottom portion. It’s $ 15 for that.

I recently needed some sewing work done, and had no idea where to have it taken care of in Long Beach.
I searched google, and after a lot of phone calls to different cleaners and tailors that either didn’t answer or couldn’t help me, I called Alterations & Design.
She told me that she’d be able to take care of it on the same day. I stopped in and explained the job and she took care of it while I waited.
Her prices were very reasonable and she really couldn’t be much sweeter. Even though I have no aptitude (or frankly, desire) for learning how to sew, I was curious about all of her machinery and she showed me how she worked it. A nice touch!
It’s tucked away inside a clothing store, so when you get to 5280, go inside and they’ll direct you to the back of the store, where her little sewing office is located.
She only takes cash or checks, so be sure to bring either before you go. Also, she opens at 11am, so if you call earlier you’ll just have to leave her a message.
