Food is very good I love the pad Thai and the curry. Not a fancy place and good for your buck!

I enjoyed the variety of dishes. I loved the won ton soup. There are not many Thai places on 2nd St in Belmont Shore. Are they opening another location? Does anyone know where they moved to???

They’re closed!!! I can’t believe it!!! Drove down from The south bay today to get me a lunch special and my favorite cabbage soup and I walk in to them selling all their plates and pots. Silly me to not check trusty Unilocal before coming down but alas not even one more meal before they closed. I’m absolutely kicking myself for not coming down here and getting my Phuket fix. Well phuk-it

Service sucks here, but most Asian restaurants lack in that department(not that it should be acceptable). Our waitress didn’t refill our drink, or ask if we wanted more. A man eventually brought a glass of water to the table because he noticed my friend was parched, and sipping every last drop of his Thai tea. The glass of water was cracked, resulting in the table gradually puddling. I had a small tom yum soup(it had just mushrooms and chicken pieces), and beef satay. Both were filling together. The tom yum was the perfect heat to sour ratio. The chicken threw me off a bit. The beef satay was good, but a royal pain to get off the skewers. The reasoning for my one star is my worshipping of the porcelain god tonight as a result of dining here. Not in the«oh I ate spicy food» way, because I do that, often. But because something I ate here today was prepared in such a way that my body needs me to evacuate it, repeatedly. Be wary.

I am so bummed that my favorite Thai spot in Long Beach will be closing mid January since the owners refused to renew their lease!!! I have been eating Thai food here at least 20 years. I love everything that I have ever had here from the soup, noodle dishes, rice dishes, chicken, seafood, etc. It has all been the standard that I compare all other Thai food to.

Not very good. Not very authentic. Wasn’t impressed with the food at all. I got an app and entrée for 28 bucks. Kinda pricey. Service was nice. I got takeout. When I arrived to pick it up at 6pm on a Friday the place was empty. I wouldn’t go back.

I went back to this place after not going there for a year or two. Big mistake. The food is terrible, I don’t know if they had a change of ownership or what but the place used to be packed now it is empty. Something has definitely changed.

Eh, it’s yummy and fresh but not spectacular by any means, and the place is clean but nothing special… ah Phuket, let’s go.

The service was alright and the food was mediocre. I was in the area and wanted phad thai. To me the phad thai tasted fine. My boyfriend got the lunch special and he got the thai BBQ chicken and the chicken was super dry. I didn’t believe him until I took a bite and it was very dry. It’s the only Thai food place on 2nd street but even then it’s not very busy. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have had really good Thai food.

I visit every time I go to Long Beach, with friends or with family. All the servers makes me feel at home. It’s like being with family. One year I had my birthday celebration there, everyone ordered something different and we did family style and everyone in my party loved the dishes. I love curry, I always order the green curry but I ask them for no onions and extra potato and they never fail to give me what I asked for. My nieces loves their bbq chicken skewers and the Keow Nam(wonton soup). They love love loved it. When they come to visit, they always ask me when we can go back.

This place is pretty standard when it comes to thai food. Nothing spectacular and not fancy by any means. The reason I give Phuket Thai 4 stars is their friendly, local, fast service. They are always trying to make your experience better and almost feel like family. Absolutely a great place for large groups and for family style sharing! I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes even with more than 10 people in my party.

I’m sooo disappointed looking forward to some yummy Thai take out and brought it home and it was bad !! They used tiny pieces of chicken with mushrooms, chicken was crumbles not even small bite size pieces and a few mushrooms, my asparagus and shrimp dish was these huge pieces of asparagus and carrots which we all know big asparagus doesn’t have the tender flavor, the larger were old and not good with 6 tiny shrimp !! Very unhappy customer and would not recommend to anyone :(.

The food was absolutely delicious, and service was so fast(for being a Saturday night!) that I will be coming back again. My husband ordered to-go over the phone and they told him«15 minutes». It took us that long to get there, and when we did, the food was ready and waiting. My husband ran in while I waited at the meter. So simple. We ordered the spring rolls, beef panang curry, chicken yellow curry and pad see ew. We have eaten at their other location in Huntington Beach, so I knew what to expect. However this place was a notch above. We will be coming back!

I’ve been to other Phuket locations, and was impressed with the flavors, so I figured I’d try this place. The service was prompt, which is why it has a lone star. The place is old, though relatively clean. Frankly, the food isn’t good. Ethnic food is either targeted towards native palettes or to Western tastes. This place achieves neither; the recipes lack luster. If you’re feeling Thai, Unilocal the other joints in LBC. This one is worth passing.

Chose this place on a whim ! Im not familiar with Thai food but this was excellent! Inside is average décor, had no idea what to order so i looked around at what people ate, i obviously couldnt make out what they ordered so i asked the waitress for advice. Large portions for two people to share, over ordered wish the waitress told me. What i can remember was appetizer«Keow Thot» friend wonton with meat inside, very good, has a sweet dipping sauce. Ordered the rice plate«Khao Phat w/chicken, this was the best rice I’ve ever had, maybe mixed with fish sauce? couldn’t pin point but it was amazing. I ordered a noodle plate and beef plate that was said to be spicy, not so much. those were also great choices next time i will order less. One star away from PERFECT as the waiting staff was not so attentive, had to ask for refills. If you come on the weekend this place is on a street with many other stores{candy& ice cream close by if you want dessert}other restuarants therefor parking sucked, street only.

After tonight I think they will be getting a few more one star ratings. Let me tell you why… We show up on a Sunday night. It wasn’t too busy and we got a seat immediately. I had read the reviews on this place already so I was expecting the wait and bad service. Well boy did I underestimate my fellow Unilocalers. The waiting game began from the moment we sat down. It took them forever to simply give us menus than more waiting for them to come take the order. As a matter of fact we had to flag down some a waitress to place our order. We placed the order and I asked if they could make my pad Thai spicy. They agreed and they Took off… For a really long time again. My girlfriends dad ordered a beer that was taking forever to come so we flagged down another waiter and reordered them. He brought the beer and the other girl never came back. The wait eventually became unbearable and we attempted to just pay for the drinks and we would leave. We didn’t complain we just wanted to leave. These people had the nerve to lie and say the food was ready. We sat back down and they brought out my pad Thai not spicy like I ordered and cold as hell. They didn’t bring out the appetizer we ordered and my girlfriends food never came out. I flagged down the waiter an asked and he just responded hell check than disappeared. Finally when one of the waitresses walked by we said to forget the appetizer and my girlfriends meal and she specifically said«I’ll cancel everything» I thought that meant comp the meal which would have been cool but all she did was take off the items they never brought… Well why the hell would u think can charge us for something you never brought??? STAYFARFARAWAY if you don’t want to be treated like crap. There are a lot of other choices than to waste your money here. I seem other people walk out too. This place SUCKS

Whaaaat why only 3 stars? That makes me sad. I LOVE Phuket Thai. It’s cheap and it’s delicious. I usually go with 4 or 5 people and we just order a bunch of things and split it. Also has a nice little selection of Thai beer. Fun location, right on 4th street in Belmont Shore. Good place to grab a Thai bite and then walk around. My family and I usually opt for a curry, a noodle dish, a seafood dish, and the basil chicken. The portions are always huge and I love getting 4 or 5 meals in one haha. The lunch specials are also great. Even cheaper than usual. Service is pretty solid too. Nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about. Really 3 stars??? Sad times. I’m sorry Phuket Thai. I’d give you at least 4 you’re one of my Long Beach favorites.

The best Thai Food out there! Price is very fair considering the big serving you get! It is actually cheap for a very good restaurant! Everything here tastes so good — mongolian beef, beef satay, phad thai, fried rice, yellow and red curry, panang curry… everything I have eaten and tried here is so exceptionally good that this is the only Thai restaurant me and my family go to. We have brought friends and relatives living outside of the country, different state and city, and they love this place! The owners, the mom and her daughter, Shandy are so welcoming and warm it makes this place so much better. The staff works fast, cleans the tables quickly and seats you right away. This place gets packed on the weekends but wait is not long because they are just fast and efficient. Overall, price and friendly employees, and great food will make you want to come back. I can eat here everyday. :-)

A solid three stars: Second Street Unilocalers are once again exactly right(at least according to my standards). I visited Phuket Thai because their sister store in Huntington Beach is one of my top 5 Thai restaurants in Orange County; how different could they be? Well as it turns out, significantly. For one thing, although they use similar if not the same recipes as the HB store, the quality of the ingredients isn’t quite there. Not that it’s bad, just not up to HB Phuket Thai’s high standards. For another, the service at 2nd Street PT is perfunctory but not exactly warm like in HB. And finally, the prices… much inflated over HB’s prices. I know that’s supposedly because this is spendier real estate on 2nd Street, but still… For the HB-uninitiated, the food here at this location is pretty good overall as Thai goes, but not standout. If you really want standout, I suggest you try almost anything down the street at Thai Gourmet — except their curries — and pay about the same price. Phuket Thai does curry better, I’ll give ‘em that. Tried: Coconut Chicken Soup, 3 stars. Somewhat low on flavor despite the galanga and the lemongrass, but good chicken breast meat; Spicy Shrimp Salad, 3 stars. It was okay, but I’ve had better shrimps and better salad ingredients in this dish at several other restaurants. Green Curry, 4 stars. Generous use of meat and ginger, not bad flavor, but just a touch too sweet to be perfect. Roasted Duck Curry, 3 stars. One of the more boring roasted duck curries I’ve tried, and again, just a touch too sweet(what is it with Second Street Thai places? Don’t people on Second Street get concerned about diabetes? Sheesh!). For the servers, I have no real complaints(you were quick and courteous, good job), but a recommendation: try smiling once in a while. Peace out.
