ARC Recycling Center

Wow I really got cheated… They are suppose to honor the price you have on the coupon. But the lady at the office doesn’t bother to look at the coupon at all. My coupon said $ 1.85 per lb cans and what they paid me was 1.65 per lb… They did the same with my glass and plastic. The way the weigh items is very questionable as well

I like recycling here cause workers are helpful in any way. The place is as run down as it gets, but they do get the job done. They pay you back more than any recycling place I’ve been to. Just make sure don’t go here in a rainy day cause it really smells bad, but other than that, I would recycling here everyday if only if I have unlimited supplies of recyclables. My go-​to place to save the environment one step at a time lol.

This is one of the best recycling centers I’ve been to. The staff is friendly. The line usually moves fast. They pay u more than any other recycling center. This is where my husband & I always come. Just be sur to sort ur stuff before u get in line. They don’t like that.
P. S. Sometime certain Sorters will deny some items.

This place will cheat you if you do not pay close attention, and DO NOT sign the receipt at the window until you are sure you are getting paid the correct amount. I had 7 full barrels of flattened plastic containers, and they only paid me $ 21. I made the mistake of signing before receiving the cash, and then I walked away. I went back to the window, and the cashier was so rude and unprofessional. She and the owner refused to help me, even though it was clear that they made an error in their favor. They said once you sign the receipt, it’s too late. They do not even have a visible weight scale for customers to review. The place is also very dirty and smelly because it is enclosed, so it is probably a hazard to your lungs if you are sensitive to contaminated air. I have heard of complaints from other people as well, so I believe they underpay their customers so they can have extra money in their pockets. Bad business. The ARC center on Woodruff is a much better choice. I am not done complaining about this place

I love recycling! And I love getting paid to recycle! This place has been a long time go-​to recycling spot ever since I was little and coming with my mom.
No shame in the game! I come here with my husband now. He’s never done this kind of thing but ever since he’s been with me, that’s the deal.
I find tranquility in sorting aluminum from plastic and green glass from clear glass. It’s nice and actually fun. Just make sure to bring your own gloves.
Overall the place still looks the same when I was there 10 years ago. I like the set up. Drive in. Park. Sort and weigh. It’s that easy.

This recycling center is cool as far as recycling centers go. I feel like I always get a better return on my money here. The staff is quick and kind which is appreciated.
You learn to either love or hate the tin roof that covers this place. Not sure is its better at keeping the sun off of your head or baking you slowly like a Thanksgiving Day turkey.

Crappy crappy service! Don’t believe the posted hours of operation. When I went, they closed 30 mins early and when I asked, they said «we close early sometimes». Then why post deceiving hours of operation?! Terrible experience. I wouldn’t recommend it. Never coming back.

This recycling center is amazing for a recycling center. The staff was friendly and they made it quick and easy to turn in 3 bins of aluminum cans. They give a very good amount of money per lb. ($ 1.55)
I definitely will return in the future.
I can’t stand coming to recycling but I can deal with coming to ARC because it is quick and easy. Thanks ARC :)

as far as the «expect you to know «, im guessing the reason why they think you would know the difference between the bins, is cause one is marked with spray paint that says «trash» so i think its obvious not to use that one. i think the entrance is pretty basic considering there is only one. and ofcourse its gonna stink, its a recycling place!

This recycling center:
1) Did not inspect my recycling
2) Did not inspect ANY recycling that I observed for over an hour and at least 25 other patrons
3) Did not request photo identification from any recyclers, including myself.
4) Allowed two patrons to smoke either crack, meth or marijuana on site.
5) Weighed my recycling with another FOUR bins of plastic bottles from the patron before me.
6) No one at the site, from the company, spoke English so I could register my complaint.
7) The cashier refused to address my complaint.
They gave $ 1.59 for aluminum. The going rate is $ 2.00 but they would not honor ALL coupons, just two that are not in the penny saver.
I found out later the center just down the street at Atlantic and Bixby Road is a lot cleaner and all their containers have wheels and are weighed separately. This center was paying $ 2.00 a pound

Cool because it’s under shade, but not cool because I got yelled at through a intercom because I used the wrong trash cans for my recyclables.
Had it not been for Jesus (Christ that is), I woulda shanked the intercom lady with a sticky broken glass bottle.
Also, I’m pretty sure I got jipped.

Cool place! It stinks like hell, but that’s to be expected. It’s under shade and the parking is adequate. I’ll be going there for all my recyclables.

There are no clear signs on which way to turn in… it can be confusing if you have never been here before and «the latino workers that work here expect you to know».
Oh yeah, the «latino workers» expect u to know which bins to use, where to stand in line, etc. Oh yeah, that’s how it is at this location.
Since I know a little Spanish, I understood a little of their sarcastic remarks they had for me… How am I suppose to know which bins I cannot used? Again, they expect you to know.
You drive in and park in one of the stalls on the right or left side here. They are not responsible for any damage to your vehicle. It’s pretty nasty here, so don’t wear your best clothes and shoes when coming here.
Make sure to have a used towel or rubber floor mats to cover your vehicle’s floormats, because you don’t want to bring home any «nastiness» from this place.
I would recommend wearing «gloves» so you can grab hold of the dirty trash bins to separate your recyclables.
Overall, don’t expect any great customer service here but expect them again to «expect you to know» the procedures.
The only plus for going to this place is they give more $$ for your recyclables. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters.
So if you can put up with their BS, you will have more $$ in your pockets. Nice!!!

Recycling is good! This seems to be the recycling center of choice for the wifey and I. I don’t drink soda and try to use re-​usable water bottles, so I wouldn’t come here except for my soda drinking and bottle collecting wife. (Ok, and maybe I have a few wine bottles to recycle… maybe…) We’ve tried a few other recycling locations, but I think this is our favorite.
The good:
It’s in the shade. The whole area is under a roof. No sun exposure! That is 99% of the reason I like this place!
The less than good:
It’s kind of stinky and dirty (as would be expected).
It’s in an area a bit out of the way from us (but then again, so are most of the recycling centers).
An extra star for the shade for sure!

I am not the can collecting type of person that digs in trash cans at a park or just about anywhere where people decide to throw their waste. I consider myself a person who recycles. Ha, like there is any difference. Most of my recyclables are from coworkers. Thanks guys!
There is a method to the madness. You have to make sure you separate the cans from the plastic. And with plastic there is a difference like for example a regular water bottle vs a juice bottle like Naked Juice, so they must be separated.
Beer bottles or wine bottles are not the same. They’re separated by color– green, white and brown. There are some items they will not accept but I think for the most part it’s dependent on the location. I had a harder aluminum type of bottle and it was rejected.
I would say I’m a fan of this recycling center for one small thing– it has a roof! I’ve been to other locations and so far the roof makes a huge difference. Is it clean? Hell no. My flip flops stick to the cement and then I remember– why am I wearing flip flops when there’s a bunch of broken glass lying around. It smells, but it’s definitely cleaner than other locations that I’ve been to. Large trash bins line up the walls of this recycling center and this is where you start. I got lucky when I went early in the morning because I had the place to myself. The sound of the bottles clinking and the the cans clanking become interesting after awhile. It’s like their way of fighting to make space in the big trash can.
The building is a green huge warehouse with plenty of space to park and unload your cans or bottles. There are two huge scales to weigh your collections. Sometimes there are huge lines so the waiting part can take awhile. I recommend when you start collecting that you separate the bottles/​can/​plastics beforehand so you’re not spending most of your afternoon at the recycling center.

There are coupons online, but you have to read the fine print and at this point– I just want to get rid of the sucker.
After pooling all of my cans/​bottles/​plastics and making two big trips I was able to walk away with almost $ 40. Not bad I suppose. It’s gas money for all the Unilocal trips I take.
