An absolute failure as a business/service. Consistently broken machines/scales. One elderly(very rude) employee, who is seemingly unable to communicate in any language. On a recent visit, within business hours, the location was closed and a homeless man was trying to broker deals for cans from disappointed patrons. On another visit, the employee was imposing a limit on the number of items that could be recycled, so he was making customers sit and count out bottles in increments of 50 — even further bogging down the already packed lines. Total infuriating hassle. The lines at this establishment more than justify 2 – 3 more locations, or several more employees at the least. DONOTWASTEYOURTIMEWITHTHESECLOWNS.

The guy who works here is nice but one side is always broken! Very frustrating! If you are trying to recycle on a lunch break, don’t bother. Area is maintained otherwise.

This place has two automated machines and one worker when they’re open. Recycling machine hours are: 9am — 6:30pm Hrs of operation: Monday — closed Tuesday through Saturday — 10am — 4:30pm Sunday — closed Advice? Avoid the weekends or else you’ll be waiting in line for a good long time. And have patience because the machines like to spit back out dented plastic bottles and aluminum cans. I’d avoid doing it by weight(you can just pour your cans and bottles into buckets and get them weighed by the worker). It might be psychological, it might not, but it always seems like you’re paid 100 bottles/cans short of what you put in. You’ll get a print out receipt from the receipt or one handed to you if you weigh them. Take the ticket to Albertson’s across the street and get in line at the cashier. Voila. You’ve helped the Earth and made some change!

This place uses automated machine that accepts your cans, plastics bottles, and glass bottles. It is staffed when it is open. Today it was some guy who hardly spoke English. Once you are done, just print the coupon by pressing the green button and you can redeem it at Albertson’s in the same parking lot. Problems: 1) It likes to reject aluminum cans that are dented or if it deviates from the usual shape. Same goes for the plastic bottles. I didn’t experience any problems with the glass beer bottles. 2) This location only has two machines so line can get long on the weekend. 3) You have to feed the machine one by one and occassionally it would reject whatever you put in. What a pain. It might take it if you try reloading it a few times. 4) There are bins at the back of the machine, if they become full, machine will stop taking in your stuff and automatically print the ticket. So make sure the attendant is on duty. Suggestions: Unless you only have handful of cans and bottles, you should be going to one of those places that would accept your cans and bottles in bulk. I recommend recycling center in Cal State Long Beach. Look up ASI Recycling Center in Long Beach. So much easier and faster to just dump all those aluminum cans and soda bottles into the bins and have the attendants(CSULB students) weigh them and you are on your way after getting paid.
