Stopped in for drinks on the pier. Was greeted by Server Jared and he was awesome the entire night. Very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I will be coming back to have another drink. I love a place that I can relax and unwind.

Two words: Tourist Trap. There were only two reason we ate here: 1) My kids were hungry and it was right across the street from the Aquarium and 2) My In-laws had never eaten at a Bubba Gumps. Service is spotty. They have this sign system where you flip from«Run Forest Run»(service not needed) to «Stop Forest Stop»(to stop a server). This would be great if servers actually walked by on a regular basis. There were a couple times i had to get up to find a server. The food: Kids Fish and Chips — Mostly batter and very little fish. Fries are overly seasoned. Served with an orange slice and a cup of blue gelatin. Jambalaya — Good portion given the price, but while i was warned it was on the spicy side, that was really all i tasted. Could tone down the spicy and up the spices for flavor. Good amount of chicken, shrimp, and sausage though. All-American Burger — Decent size and my Father in law said it wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great. Shrimp Po-Boy — HUGE. Think Subway foot long huge. Looked like the shrimp was overly battered though. Stuffed Shrimp — Very rich and drenched in butter. The little bit of rice that is served in the middle of the dish isn’t enough to soak it all up. When they brought out the food, they had mistakenly made a veggie burger instead of the Po-Boy, so we had to wait another 15 – 20 minutes. I’m sure battering up shrimp and assembling the sandwich should only take max 10 minutes. I felt they should’ve corrected the mistake quicker than they had. Everyone else was done eating by the time the Po-Boy came out. If you’re looking for a healthy option, Bubba Gump might not be the smartest choice.

Me: «There’s a roach on my kid’s drink!» Waiter: «Yeah, sometimes they come in from outside. Thanks for coming.» Ummmm… That was the last conversation I had before leaving this place a few days ago. I really want to love this place because it’s so close to the Aquarium, Queen Mary, the Lighthouse, and other Long Beach attractions but I always seem to walk away disappointing. The menu always looks great but once the food comes it just doesn’t look all that fresh. This time I ordered the Po Boy and it was mostly plain. My fries on the other hand were so overly seasoned, I tried to take half of the seasoning salt off. My drink was good(I had the blueberry lemonade) so that was the highlight of my meal. My kids had the popcorn shrimp which turned out to be on the spicy side so they didn’t eat most of it. Good thing they enjoyed the fries, jello, and orange wedge that came with the kid’s meal. This location is usually very busy due to the attractions nearby so expect to wait a bit. The staff are friendly but are so busy that they seem to totally overlook the fact that there are roaches roaming around on the tables. What a shame. This place could be so much better, and I think most of us hope it is because of the proximity to the beach, but it’s not.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co is a franchise restaurant based off the movie«Forrest Gump.» If you’ve never watched the movie, well, shame on you… :P We ate at the one located in Long Beach after the visit to the aquarium. At lunch time, this place is usually pretty full. We waited a few minutes for a table. You can request a table with a view, meaning they seat you by the windows overlooking the water. We didn’t ask for this, however we just happened to get one since it was the next available table. It was a nice view. The food is a little pricey for some fried shrimp and crispy fish, but it’s still good for the value you pay for it. Our bill ended up being a little higher because we got a souvenir glass for our friends with our meal.

4 shrimp dish was good. We ordered it as appetizer. The fish with lobster dish(forgot the name) was good and fresh. Good service and fun atmosphere. I usually avoid all American places like his cause I feel bad eating all calories after but this time I didn’t feel bad

I’ve never had bad service here. Everytime I come to this location, whether morning or night/busy or not, I’ve always gotten the best service and food. Thanks Kyle for being a great server. The host that day was really chill too. Didn’t get his name, but he photobombed us.

Came here @ 2pm on a Monday. Restaurant was super slow so the service was tip top. We had Kyle as our server, great guy. Food was quick and excellent. Prices are pretty good as far as seafood goes. I got their Clam Chowder and Cajun Shrimp. Delicious. Highly Recommend

This place is always very busy and has limited seating, so make reservations. The customer service is great most times and the food is consistent. There isn’t much to say beyond the menu and the mediocre expectations. Because this is a fairly commercialized restaurant, the food doesn’t necessarily taste fresh. Perhaps frozen and thawed.

You didn’t have to see the movie to enjoy the kitschy effect this place has. We saw the movie years ago pre-kids. This was our first visit on Saturday for lunch. Kids loved the atmosphere, and license plate signs in table. The kids kept in testing the waitstaff by flipping the sign to «stop Forrest stop» and we kept getting asked if we needed anything. Whoops! We ordered the Mac and cheese appetizer, kids pizza, some type of veggie skewers with rice plate and fish tacos. Everything was tasty. The service was good although it was busy! Our adult meals were light and healthy. The Mac and cheese appetizer was greasy so the kids didn’t like it. Waiter said the kids menu Mac and cheese was Kraft so we went right for the more authentic adult version on the appetizer menu but it was a miss. Other than that, all was really good! Yum!

I finally made it out to Bubba Gump, and it was an interesting experience. There’s lots of memorabilia and decorations from the movie, «Forrest Gump.» I ordered Bubba’s after the storm«Buck of Boat Trash.» I was surprised at how full I was after the meal. There were about 7 or 8 decent sized fried shrimp, in addition to crispy fish(seasoned cajun style) and french fries. The star of the bucket was the steamed cluster of snow crab legs. I wasn’t expecting much and was pleasantly surprised by them. Each morsel of crab meat was succulent, tasty, and tender. The natural sweetness of the meat allowed me to bypass the ever so popular drawn butter. These crab legs were large and delicious, and I’d gladly order them as the feature entrée next time. The clam chowder was not good. It wasn’t creamy, but rather watery and lacking flavor. I was a tad bit disappointed that our server did not offer us the Forrest Gump movie trivia at the end of our meal. We saw other servers doing it and it looked fun.

As many times as I’ve passed this restaurant in other places I have never stopped by to eat here. My boyfriend took me here on a Sunday for dinner and I was expecting a wait but there wasn’t. We got seated in a couple minutes. This location is right on the boardwalk so it’s easy to find and you can just park in the center. Once we were seated the server briefly explained how their signs worked because neither of us knew. One to signal them to come the other to let them know we are good. I thought that was convenient. We were seated outside by request. I get cold fairly easy so I asked them if they could turn on the heater next to me, but apparently all of the heaters are connected so they would have to turn them all on. They didn’t seem to want to do it so I just said never mind since we were about half way done wth dinner anyway. We ordered the sample platter with calamari. I thought this wouldn’t be enough but I was definitely wrong. We barely finished half! I liked the different sauces they gave us to dip with. The samplers were nice except it was like a surprise as I picked one of the cone because I didn’t which item was which. Our total came out to be around $ 35. It was a nice experience, not sure how often I would return just because I usually do prefer my seafood fresh and not fried.

Great food but small portions and high prices. The service is great and the ambiance is everything you expect it would be with Forrest Gump facts and pictures everywhere. We ordered the plate of 3 different fried foods in it: hush puppies, Mac and cheese(but it tasted like all cheese no Mac), and shrimp. It was very crispy but each was just a small portion considering it looked it could be shared between two people. It was $ 21.99 which is expensive considering the portions and it wasn’t the best tasting. I would say you’re best off going here once for the experience and if you really wanted to go again once again next year.

Blahhh! Don’t bother eating here. The food is awful and very overpriced. I’ve been here a few times trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Every time I’ve come, my taste buds get more turned off than before. Shrimp = no good. Clam chowder = watery and weak. Drinks = underwhelming. Fish = waste of time. Side items = don’t bother. I am very disappointed because the first time I ate at Bubba Gumps was in Maui and my family, boyfriend, and I all enjoyed it quite a bit. Here? Not even! If you’re going for the novelty of it, enjoy. If you are a tourist leaving the Aquarium, why not endure just because. Any other ordinary visit is a waste of time and money. I’d do much better eating at Red Lobster and that’s not saying much either.

We both love the movie, we loved this restaurant as kids, and figured, Friday night, why the hell not? OHYEAHNOWWEREMEMBERWHY. Food and drinks are so painfully overpriced here it’s giving me Disneyland vibes. The saddest part is that the seafood is not fresh at all, the portions are tiny, and the drinks have little to no alcohol. My man got a shrimp basket with about 8 pieces shrimp total and some fries… I think it was something ridiculous like $ 21.99. I got the cajun shrimp and I finished those soggy suckers in less than 10 minutes. We finished our sad cocktail mostly made of juice concentrate and twiddled our thumbs until the check came. This is a bit embarrassing to admit, but after we ate at Bubba Gump, we drove to another restaurant and had a second dinner… The place was absolutely empty on a Friday night and the teenage waiters looked like they had somewhere else to be. Good for family or friends visiting from out-of-town right after you take them to the aquarium across the street. Just because of the novelty of it all. Other than that, don’t bother. We shuddered as we were leaving and promised not to waste another date night here.

I’m a Bubba Gump fan. Their gumbo is tasty and has just the right amount of kick for me. A bowl is big enough for two to share if you’re not very big eaters. Today, I had Jenny’s Catch which was Tilapia over mashed potatoes with a lobster cream sauce, oh yea, and spinach. Very, very good. I’d highly recommend it. Just the right amount of food and the ingredients mixed together for a very enjoyable meal. The only downfall of Bubba Gump is that it is slightly over priced, really for only 2 or 3 dollars per entrée but still more than you would expect in a local place selling the same thing. But, I think that’s what one should expect from a chain restaurant. It’s part of the Landry’s group so use your card to get points and you might get a $ 25 «gift» for your birthday. Also, of note, if you are an AARP member, they take 10% of your bill if you show them your card. Definitely worth it. Plus, at this location you have to park in a parking structure. Bring your parking ticket in with you to get 90 minutes free after your done eating(you have to do this in the gift shop on the way out). So, in summary, I’d recommend it if you stay away from the high priced, highly advertised specialty drinks and still to the New Orleans’ style dishes. Enjoy!

What a fun place to grab some seafood while in the Shoreline area! Came in after a morning at the Aquarium and were glad we did. Great staff, trivia, happy people, and fun décor. The food was very tasty, the three of us all shared our lunches and we liked it all: Lieutenant Dan’s drunken shrimp, Shrimper’s Heaven, and Forrest’s Seafood feast. The andouille was really tasty, the coconut shrimp was spot on, and the drinks were good as well. I had a Southern Punch in one of the blinky cups. Fun!!!

I’ve known about this chain since they opened but never was excited to try it although I love the movie. This wasn’t my first choice for lunch but we went only out of convenience as it was right next to the aquarium. I should always trust my instincts. Greeter and our waiter were nice and upbeat. Atmosphere was fun. The trivia game was forced but ok. Asked waiter for less sugar drink suggestions but my drink was full flavored so I watered it down to my taste. My combo lunch was flavorful but a bit small. The cup of gumbo was… a small cup. Was almost done with the salad. until I spotted a fuzzy black worm curled up on a leaf. Should’ve taken a photo of the small fuzzy worm sheltering in place. The waiter did say that he let it go free… haha. The manager stopped at our table and joked that she personally washed the salad… my friend and I made light of it to our waiter but we felt it was improper and a bit unprofessional for her to do the same. She asked if I wanted to order something else and after a few minutes I ordered the popcorn shrimp and jalapeño peppers with dip(good but so greasy) as it sounded like it would be on the house but it was not. Bottom line, enjoy the atmosphere but expect average food and always inspect your fresh salad and verify what if anything would or would not be comped. Lunch is like a fresh salad here… You never know what extra you’re going to get.
