Cuban Pete’s Mojito Lounge

This was hands down, the best night out that I have had in Long Beach since I moved out here. From the time that I arrived, Dereck (A bouncer/​club promoter) gave me and my friends the ultimate VIP treatment. We got to downtown a little after 10:30, which is typically the cut-​off time to get into places for free. But Dereck was so accommodating and hooked us up with a free table and a complimentary bottle of champagne. He also brought me and my friends 2 rounds of free shots. On top of that, our server Stephanie was so friendly and attentive– she even got down with us on the dance floor! I would recommend Cuban Pete’s to anyone who asked because of the variety in music, the delicious drinks, and the phenomenal service! Thanks again for making our night!

I went for the Long Beach pride after party with a couple of friends and I contacted the promoter to see how much the entrance and he told me that it was $ 15 with the wristband from pride when we got to the club it was $ 20 and u had to have a CERTAIN wrist band, the club was so empty we even got kicked out of the other attached lounge and were told to go dance in the other room (with terrible dj) also the talent that I was told would be there never went … The food outside was ok

This is a great place to catch good vibes and have some drinks. Parking is somewhat tricky but just go ahead and park in the two hour free parking which is about 1 block away. There is a cover charge after 10pm but its worth if you ask me.
Bottle service is always the best way to go if your with a group especially if you get there after 10pm because they waive the cover charge. Each person or couple will most likely spend $ 25-​$ 60 on drinks and cover so i think its more worth it to get a bottle or two plus it comes with v.i.p seating.
They have two dance floors, one hip-​hop & the other latino music. The crowd is pretty chill from the times ive gone and theres people from all ethnic backgrounds. Theres also a taco man/​woman on standby out in the patio area on the weekends who serves up a mean burrito plate.
The staff here is very laid back and friendly so dont be shy and say whats up or give a.

If you ever plan to have a bday here .Have Derrek be your host. I had a lovely time and everything went well for my friends bday. He makes sure everything runs smoothly from the moment we arrived. Two dance floors, good music, good ppl. really enjoyed myself.

Let me tell you if you like to dance if you like good music and good service, this is the place for you, I’ve been here many times and every time I go they don’t disappoint me, Derrick our host make sure we’ve been we’ll taken care off, he was always nice and friendly, good service he knows how to keep he’s customers happy, I definitely recommend this night club for any occasion don’t for get to request Derrick as your host he knows how to keep he’s customers happy.

Came here for a fundraiser and though I’m not into the club scene… drinks, service and the crowd were decent.
The drinks and bottle service were the highlights of the night. I can never complain about a well made cocktail nor self serve vodka on the rocks. I’m not that into hookah either but figured I give it a few puffs. In the end, still not for me haha.
All in all, this was a fun visit. There are two buildings for Cuban Pete’s. One for the lounge & club where I was for the fundraiser and the other for the Bar & Grill. I can say without a doubt that my next visit will be for the bar & grill as I’m more into the bar scene and of course food.
Drinks 3÷25÷2016

I have had nothing but love for this place for a few months, but after our last experience here we will NEVER be returning.
My girlfriends and I have a monthly girl’s night, and Cuban Pete’s had become our home bar on those nights. We’ve never had anything but a great time there. Last weekend, we left the bar around 12:30 to wander down Pine, and when we came back, the doorman wouldn’t let us back in. He told us our group had been kicked out. We were ASTONISHED. When we tried to find out more about what he was talking about, he gave us some story about how someone in our group had been disrespectful to someone on security staff. That simply isn’t true. We aren’t a group of fresh 21 year olds– we know better than to disrespect door staff. Our M.O. is to come, buy drinks, dance our faces off, and leave happy. We NEVER cause any problems. So we tried to find out more about what happened, and then his story changed. He started telling us that they don’t let people back in after they’ve left, that they’ve had problems with people leaving and coming back too messed up. If that’s true, that’s fine, and we can respect that, but part of the door staff’s job is to assess the status of their patrons. If he had been doing that, he would have very easily seen that none of us were messed up or going to be a problem. But the entire situation was sketchy from the beginning.
So we walk to the establishment next door, which is supposedly owned by the same people. We get the same song and dance there, and after speaking (very civilly) with the doorman (with whom we had been friendly all night), he agreed to let us in. But at that point the damage had been done, and all we could do was stand around puzzling about what had just happened.
So one of the security employees from that club walked by. This man had been making passes at me all night as he passed our group, so I figured he would be friendly with us to talk to and try to find out what was up. He told us he was a «manager». So we all start in on our story and try asking him what had happened for us to be treated like that, and he throws his hands up and starts treating us like we are being aggressive for being upset and trying to find out what had gone wrong. He starts giving us lines like «no wonder you got kicked out», «you need to calm down», and even told my friend (whom I watched speak with him very calmly and diplomatically), that there were «clearly some issues going on» with her.
I have NEVER been so insulted or mistreated by an establishment in my life. I have worked in bars before; I know that there are so many ways in which this situation could have been rectified by any number of staff from both of these establishments, and instead each person just made it worse than the last. And after reading some of the other reviews here, I see I am not alone in my experience. It saddens me that a place that my friends and I loved to frequent and support has come to this, but we will not be returning. It is appalling for us to be accused of things we didn’t do and treated so abysmally.
I would encourage the ownership to really look at their staff and the stories of how patrons have been treated here, and really make steps to rectify some of these experiences.

Review for the LOUNGE:
Once the place started filling up, it was a great atmosphere, pretty big place! There are 2 rooms, 1 for «Latin Music» and the other for Hip Hop. Both rooms had awesome DJs and plenty of room to dance.
They have a taco bar on the patio that smelled delicious, should have saved our appetites for that!

Had a great time here. Loved that I had options of the kind of music I wanted to dance to with the 2 rooms on the main side. Looks like they’ve made improvements adding a 3^rd room. Its not connected but u can go back and forth. But they play everything in that 3^rd room. From hip hop to reggaeton they made me not want to sit down.

Boring and ratchet. Not worth $ 10 at all because when you get in it has a super small dance floor. Plus they have a second room that’s way larger but they don’t even open it. Maybe it’s because everyone else knows this place is ghetto as fuck, so they want it to look more packed. Seriously maybe 25 people can fit. 25 people-​_​-​. Then the boring ass dj plays wack music and repeats it over and over. Vip is not separate at all from dance floor so anyone can come sit. Every thing about this place is ghetto. I wouldn’t come here again especially since so many good bars in long beach are free!!! You can walk down not even a whole block and find some where better to go. We did :)!

–the Bottle service are has the entire dance floor walking in and out of the area.
–the dj, OMG THE DJ… I think he is playing his 2000’s mix in which he plays 3 «new» songs. Not to mention this playlist might be on repeat because YOU WILL hear the songs multiple times.
–and the ghetto crowd, I saw three fights lol how is that possible!
–maybe being a little more strict with the dress code will help?
I’d rather stay home.

Clearly, you guys are doing something wrong if you have to lie about who is visiting your bar.

Never have I ever been so disrespected before! First let me start by saying it was my birthday, myself and a group of friends went here because it’s one of our favorite spots to go so why not celebrate my birthday there. The promoter Norman sent me a txt saying you can get in free before 11 send to all in your party, and show at the door. We get to the door and the bouncer already has a messed up attitude when we asked where the line for the gustlist was, he says everyone has to pay its only free before 10. I being the bday girl am very disappointed that myself and friends have to pay after we were told free before 11, and the girl at the door wouldn’t even honor the fact that one of their employees screwed up! No even if it was my birthday smh.
We pay hit the bar, and start to dance. The night was going great after that I even got a shout out for my bday (the promoter did something right). So my party and I are in tthe v.i.p room on the side of the dance floor on the hip-​hop side, some random girl attacks one of my friends about a purse! Everyone was trying to get them apart when the bouncers rushed the room, I had no idea what was going on i was towards the door and it was happening towards the back of the room. The next thing I know this «top flight Security» dark skinned greasy bald headed «man» is yellimg in my face and grabbing my hands for no reason, at that point my two older brothers who are standing right next to me start telling him” don’t touch my sister like that!“
I asking him what gives him the right to push and grad me like that, he replied «Im head of security» like thats some badge of clearance to do so as he has his goons like a flock of crows standing behind him.
My party or myself NEVER disrespected any bouncers, or party goers even after the bouncers put there hands on THREE OF US GIRLS! «The head bouncer» didn’t like his authority challenged so he said, «you gotta go all «naturally I started to cry saying it was my birthday and we didn’t start anything, he said idk get out! WE IMMEDIATELY left.
I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS SCUMBAG OF A FACILITY EVER AGAIN!
Who does he think he is putting his hands on us, and treating us like garbage!
I wonder how many other people they have assaulted undetected. I still have the bruises on my wrist, and arms where he man handled me, and i do not bruise easily.

My friends and I made this our spot for a while. Always providing business and even recruiting coworkers and customers (we all work down the street). About a week ago my friend set up a guest list for her birthday. Norman, the employee that set it up, sent a text to show at the door that said free «before 11pm». When we arrived, my friends and myself were questioned and not allowed in without paying the cover. Apparently «Norman screwed up» and he was suppose to tell us and text us saying «before 10», but the bar was not willing to take collective accountability and would not allow us in regardless of the proof in text. So, basically, all 10 of us, including the birthday girl had to pay a $ 10 cover charge, even though we had set this up a week in advance.
Then, after having a decent time dancing, we went to sit down in a room off to the side. This girl literally attacked one of my friends and started pulling her hair because she thought she said something about her. None of my friends are fighters, we never deal with that and we like to have a good time. As, were were trying to loosen the girl’s grip the bouncers came in and started shoving my friends, screaming in their faces and tried to kick the birthday girl out for (non-​physically) telling them to stop shoving us. I calmly asked if I could speak to the owner, because he knows us, and I really wanted to try and salvage what was left of the night, and didn’t want my friend to get kicked out for defending herself (non-​physically). Once I requested to speak to the owner, the bouncer, who claimed to be management, immediately started yelling in my face saying «You’re out! You’re out!» and began shoving me toward the door. — He apparently didn’t like me challenging his authority.
The lady at the front desk asked what was going on, because she knows us too, and was really surprised the bouncers were treating us so poorly, aggressively, and plain mean. Once she told him, «They’re here all the time, they never have issues,» he got really upset with her. So instead, I waited patiently by the door to talk to the owner, and the bouncer laughed at me. He kept laughing, saying I was stupid for waiting and he was going to get his way no matter what… AND sure enough, he did. He went up to the owner before I could talk to him and the owner looked at me and walked away, leaving the bouncer to continuously laugh at us.
I have never felt so disrespected at any establishment in all of my experience in Long Beach, especially somewhere I give my business quite frequently. The bouncers are aggressive, mean, physical, and unprofessional (POWER TRIP). The service, drinks (weak) and music are definitely NOT worth a $ 10 cover charge. I would definitely suggest going to Sevillas or Hamburger Mary’s, and of course 2^nd Street, before considering this place EVER again!

Worst place EVER!!! Takes forever to get in line when you got bottle service! And shortest Filipino Boy wearing a white sweater. Thinking his the shit only because his holding a clip board. Filipino make rules clearer you ain’t the president of the United States.

Just left Cuban Petes very aggressive bouncer just got there friend was trying to get a drink when their bouncer touched her and told her to move she expressed she was trying to get a drink he began to yell at her because she told him not to touch her. He became very aggressive and called her a bitch and told her to go get her people (whatever that may meant) in the end we were removed from the the premises. The bouncer needed to be held be held back because of his aggressiveness. I was celebrating my birthday with friends who have never been to Long Beach I’m so embarrassed that I brought them here. I will never come here again nor will I recommend this place. This was a first time for all of and the last time at Cuban Petes. Ps. I Should of went with my gut with the Unilocal reviews they were right on.

Great lounge bar, Cuban food and lots of dancing

One of my favorite hip-​hop spots around. Lucky for me it’s right next-​door :) it’s all about the music and the yummy drinks here folks! Derrick (the VIP host) is awesome! He will take good care of you. The service is friendly and these guys have a great time serving you with a smile! Don’t sleep on this place… Especially if you are in the mood to dance your face off

Head of security on a severe power trip. Drinks were weak for being overpriced. Had to order an additional shot midway through. Bathroom lady charged a dollar for 3 jolly ranchers and a dollar for a spritz of body spray. That’s a first time in any club I’ve ever been to but hey maybe she wasn’t getting tipped. Dj spun some good music so I guess it’s deserving of one star.

If this venue had a slogan it would be «The thirst is real.» But I guess it’s pretty much like any night club. I went on a Friday night for my friend’s 25^th birthday celebration. Up front: $ 10 cover charge. The bouncers almost didn’t let my group in because they were at «max capacity» so they said. After some convincing words from a gorgeous friend of mine we got in! Mojitos were good ($ 11 each). Music was loud but not too loud to the point that it’s jarring. A lot of people were dancing (we got there pretty late in the night.) We danced a lot; almost as much time as we spent cooling off. It was an overall fun night.
Apparently, there’s a hip hop side and a Latin side. I had no idea there was a hip hop side because the Latin dance floor is the first thing you see. Due to the two dance floors, that’s probably why the bouncers said they were at max capacity. I just thought they were lying the whole night. So if you go try to find the hip hop side and let me know how it is. I’m not going back again.
Why not you may ask: A) Not really a club person. B) If I feel like dancing again I need a place that’s not so intense. And by intense I mean a fight broke out at the end of the night. A bouncer had to stop two strangers from having loud [you know] in the women’s restroom sometime during my stay. Classy. Also, I now have a new found respect for club bouncers. Life ain’t easy.
TIPS (just in case you do go): If you decide to dance you WILL sweat. There’s no way not to because of the poor air circulation. Be prepared! Also, say hi to your friendly neighborhood go go dancer who looks more like a misplaced raver (fur and all). That is all.

This place is probably my favorite place to go for a really good night out! I love how spacious the entire place is! They have 2 great sized dance floor (one side Latin music and the other side is Hip Hop music)! Both floors play really great music which makes dancing so much fun! Also a very diverse amount of people, it’s amazing!
The BEST way to enjoy this place is getting bottle service! And the BEST person to ask for when you get to the door is DEREK! He gives you the best deals and he takes REALLY great care of you the ENTIRE night! He comes to check up on you to make sure you have everything you need. He genuinely wants you to have a great time (& YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME!)! He makes sure other people aren’t just sitting at your spot or trying to grab your drinks or even try to just put their drinks on your table while they dance! (Unless you’re okay with all that) The only reason I come here like every other week is because I know Derek will take really good care of me and make sure I enjoy my night there!
This place has a balcony where you will find a person making tacos! The bathrooms are good and clean to use! I honestly have no complaints about this place at all! I can’t wait to go back because I know I will always has an amazing time!

I came here last Friday for my birthday (yay 25!) and it was a lot of fun. $ 10 cover is cheap! I had a few cosmos. We started our evening at Rockbottom down the street, and I’m sorry, but no one can top their blueberry Cosmopolitans. But these alcoholic bad boys were a close second! The first one was WAY too tangy, but after a little nudging for the bartender, the others were just fine.
I never knew there was another room in the back of this place! My friend showed it to me. We had a blast! The demographics of Long Beach usually allow that most of the club goers are black, and I am usually peered at in an uncomfortable manner until I leave. Not here! All was right on this dance floor, and color didn’t matter. It felt nice to be included as opposed to being ogled at for glowing in the dark (I desperately need a tan). Come to think of it, everyone may have just thought I was a giant glow stick… either way, fun was had by all.
Next time I will be tempted to try the tacos they sell on the balcony. That woman probably makes a ton of money after people have been drinking! My friend and I took a break outside to cool off and the tacos were all we could smell. They were very hard to resist.

Security is unprofessional and the dress code is really not enforced. I only spent time in the Latin Room and the sound was pretty good and so was the crowd. Crowd was a mix of all races, sizes, and ages. I thought that was pretty cool how everyone was having fun together. Like at every club there’s the drunk duche bags acting like idiots with girls who don’t want to dance with them. Place got very warm and I believe the only thing cooling everyone was a giant fan.
Didn’t have a bad time but I’m not driving that far for a decent time. I’ll stay at my local bars where I can walk or have a short drive.

Cool spot! Came on a Saturday night.
Very hard to order drinks as the bartenders can’t hear you, but the Drinks were fine. There is a $ 20 minimum for credit card charges. There is an ATM inside, by the restroom. The music was awesome. Love that there are two dance floors. The outdoor balcony is perfect for fresh air (sort of, smoking section) and the taco lady is here!
The ladies restroom was clean, there’s a lady there with all the freshening up toiletries and handing paper towels.
Wish I didn’t live so far, would return.

This is a decent spot to hit up in Long Beach. There wasn’t any cover charge for us and we got there around 11pm. Yay for special prices on drinks. The bartender was super cool and gave us the before 11 prices after 11. A cranberry vodka was $ 5 and a shot of tequila was $ 1. I had a pretty good time. They play great music on the hip hop side.
The crowd is a little interesting as in that it ranges from young kids to a lot older. I’ve only been here once but I can imagine it’s most likely a hit or miss type of place.

I went there on a friday night.
The crowd was very chill. It does have some what of a house party feel to it. Many people were wearing tennis shoes. A few people were dressed up. The main reason I went to this place was for the mojitos. I love mojitos. That is one of my favorite drinks. The drinks were not overpriced and the mojitos were ok. They were not spectacular but they were good. I would goo back to this location to hang out with close friends and hang out. I would not take my hard core party club people here since they would be dissapointed. The staff was very friendly and proffesional.

So I loved this place when it was in Anaheim and was crushed when i found out it was gone! Then I just found it again in Long Beach and my heart soared because it said they where the same owners.
I decided to check it out hoping that it was just as good as before AND IT WAS!
The bouncers where super nice and awesome. There was no cover on Friday night till 11pm. They have a coat check which rocks. They had drink specials for 5 $ (which may have been a holiday thing since we went the day after Christmas) EPIC!
I was soooooo happy that Cuban Pete’s did not disappoint. The music was popping a good mix of hip hop and Latin.
This is my new spot to come when I wanna dance my pants off, my best friend and I agree!

I totally loved this place!!!
The two dance floors are amazing. The DJs are phenomenal, the music is awesome. Especially because I love salsa, merengue, and Cumbia the first floor that’s by the entrance that’s where they play it. The second dance floor is hip hop, r&b. New stuff from today. That floor is a bit bigger than the other one.
There environment is really awesome.
Fellas please don’t take a shirt because they will not let you in. I believe is free before 10:30pm which is cool!!!
