Wow!!! We walked in off of the street and didn’t know what we were walking into. The food was amazing!!! The weitress was friendly and helped us chose the dishes, each dish was great and the desert was a great combination of sweet and tart.

The restaurant is difficult to tell apart from the club because it has no sign. When we arrived, the manager/hostess(not sure what he was) was so anxious and flustered about a 7:30pm reservation for 20 guests that he could not concentrate on the present(6pm). The restaurant was empty and he was worried about seating my party of 3 due to a party at 7pm! The waitress had no idea what flavored mojito drinks they had when asked. We were the only party eating until 7pm. Not once did the hostess/manger guy or waitress attempt to conversate or make the restaurant seem appealing through small talk but rather he and the waitress were on their phones. The drinks were not good at all(mojito& piña colada). The atmosphere felt as though they put little money into the establishment and of low quality. We were told it was happy hour until 7pm so we ordered food and drinks plus 2 main courses. I told the waitress we had a groupon so when the bill came they charged us full price for the happy hour items. Waitress said we could only use HH prices or the Groupon(which was not mentioned on the fine print). I asked the club manager/hostess to fix that as the Groupon does not state that and they fixed all but one HH drink. I asked the waitress to correctly fix the bill and she had an attitude. When we left the hostess/manger guy asked how everything was and i said«not a good experience» and he responded«oh» and kept going. This establishment needs some training on customer service, management aND building rapport wit your potential future customers. Horrible expeience. The food was mediocre, I recommend a Cuban place in Torrance called Havana Vieja.

Was there for my birthday dinner. We started with the appetizer sample. Everything in the sample was good but I really liked the coconut shrimp. The portions are good so my husband and I shared the Bistec Empanizado with the congri rice. So good. My daughter ordered her rice and black beans separate so I had to taste the beans. Now, black beans aren’t my favorite but these were so creamy and flavorful that I will order it that way the next time we’re there. They have really good mojitos too! If you were a fan of the Cuban Pete’s on Ball Rd in Anaheim, then you’ll want to come here. The chef from Anaheim is the same one here in Long Beach.

My friend just started a salsa, bachata & Latin dance night on Sundays in this smallish, but cozy space! It was big enough to fit about 20 ppl to try the lesson($ 5) and the restaurant gave us 25% off on our bill. They have a large selection of fun cocktails and what looked like authentic Cuban food. My friends and I weren’t super hungry, but we tried the appetizer sampler, which we gobbled up before I remembered to take a pic. My friends liked the calamari after I squeezed a bunch of lime & lemon on it. I really liked the flavorful papa relleno & the meaty empenada. I also enjoyed the spicyness of the Miami Maggie drink! Our server was nice & attentive, but didn’t seem all that knowledgable about the drinks. However, I’d definitely like to come back and try their entrees considering the lack of Cuban cuisine in Long Beach! Of course, I’ll also be back for some dancing!

Bought the Unilocal deal and came for happy hour but was not informed until the check came that happy hour prices are no longer available to anyone using a discount aka the Unilocal deal. It’s frustrating to tell the server you have a deal and them say they don’t need to see it until the end of your meal and not inform you of their policy. It was not the server’s fault — she consulted with the manager who then told us he would not honor happy hour prices on our four cocktails. We ended up paying more to use the deal, which was frankly not worth it. Good enough food but have never seen a restaurant that would offer happy hour and then reneg on it after we pre-purchased from them. Will not be going back — El Floridita is way better.

Well first off, let me start off by stating that this was my first journey into the exotically beautiful world of the food de Cubano. Stumbled upon it on Unilocal as most hungry people do when they are in desperate need of finding a satisfying dine-in experience that is in other words uncharted. So to start off it’s located in a pretty secluded part of pine street in downtown long beach, which suites my preference of an intimate dinner experience. You don’t have to be bombarded with loud and obnoxiously drunk«poo butts» ruining your lovely night out. So after climbing a flight or two of stairs you get to this wonderful place called Cuban joes, I mean Petes … Lol! Me and my beautifully seductive date were greeted at the door by a gringo *(no racial offense intended) No but seriously he was awesome and I honestly think he is the owner of the establishment. So he calls over a waitress who looked exotically Cuban but that may have just been my mind telling me so because I just so happen to be in a Cuban restaurant. She was soooo awesomely kool and laid back so much so that I kinda that she was either tipsy, or high, or both(*side note* if you like hot petite Latina waitresses than this is definitely your place to go and eat). She was nothing but smiles as she took our order and gave us some good ol’ knowledgeable advice about Cuban food, which was fantastic do to the fact that me and my date have never had it. That helped a lot! The place is extremely small with a very intimate dim setting and mood that will definitely get your sexual juices flowing. I ordered something translated in the Spanish language as «dirty clothes» but let me tell you it was delicious!!! It was made up of shredded beef cooked and seasoned with spices. Along with that I also had some coconut shrimp that made my mouth water more than a Cougars Vah Jay Jay at an all boys college. The food came quick but not too quick to where you think the chefs are masters at the art of microwaving. The food is all served with bananas, sweet and soft, or bland and crunchy. I chose the sweet and soft, and oh how incredibly decadent they were. A side of black beans and rice are served with all dishes or at least most of them. Oh and I forgot to mention that they are huge portions, had me literally squeezing through the door as I left the restaurant. All and all the place was nothing short of amazing especially being that it was my first encounter with Cuban food. To top it off, the lovely waitress gave us a 25% off coupon towards our next visit. Cuban Petes Is hands down the shizznit! Go now!!!

Was there for opening night last Saturday, we used to be frequent costumer back in the Anaheim location and absolutely loved it ! We missed it so much and was so glad to be back again, we ordered a must have, mojitos ! There is no other place that makes them just like Cuban Pete’s does! We also had Chicharrones de Pollo which were a great appetizer and Empanaditas which were my favorite ! The clam was amazing as always ! Thanks to all the staff for such an amazing time !

I was walking down pine when 2 girls approached me advertising their new restaurant Cuban Petes so I thought I’d give it a try. I ordered the Mofongo Chicken and it was DELICIOUS! after 10 the restaurant turns into a club with a side bar. I ordered one of their signature drinks the passion smash and it was smashing! definitely coming back.

Finally some Cuban food in Long Beach! I grew up in FL so ive been missing Caribbean food something serious. The Cuban Petes definitely satisfied my craving and then some. The food is not only authentic, but also delicious(that needs to be specified). The bistec empanizado, mofongo chicken, and pollo a la jerez were all excellent and very filling. They also have a great craft cocktail menu(russian spring mule) in addition to classic tropical cocktails(mojitos, piña colada). The real treat at the bar is their rum list. There are over 20 rums from all over the world. I tried the pink pigeon. Tasted like vanilla Another sell is that if u dine in on the weekend, u can get free admission into the club. Yes please!
