Definitely a must visit if you’re in the Long Beach area and want quality coffee. Good atmosphere with plenty of seats available. I got the chocolate mocha and it was very good.

Gentle Brew certainly lives up to all of its 5-star reviews! We moved to LB recently and have been dying to stop by. Today, we finally did! The location has a ton of parking options and the ambiance is chill. Lots of seating and a make-you-want-to-stay-a-while vibe. Their menu has tons of options for your ‘not so simple’ coffee. We asked the barista for help as we were clueless and she explained everything to us from how the beans are roasted all the way to what baked goods we want to go with our coffee. I ordered the poured brew which was made right in front of me — it is worth ordering for the experience alone! I’ve never seen anything like it(and I’ve definitely never had so much care put into my cup of coffee). Of course it was delicious and I was thrilled to see that they have soy and almond milk options as well. Great prices and incredible service — I will be back again(perhaps this afternoon?). Stop by!

A quality bean which I look forward to enjoying every morning. I’m lucky because on Sunday mornings they stock up at the Huntington Farmers Market(even in winter) so my supply is not dependant on a trip to the south shore!

Great customer service had a problem and was resolved immediately. They have the best coffee beans on Long Island, go with the dark roast and get a cold brew while you are there.

How fantastic to be able to buy coffee beans fresh roasted that very morning, and here in Long Beach! I used to trek all the way to Fairway for beans but no longer. And the staff is so nice. Plus they have a real community ethic. I’d come here even if I didn’t drink coffee just to keep them around.

Great coffee but terrible service. I waited 30 minutes for a regular drip brew coffee. They only had 1 person working the entire counter. Very unfair to that employee

I am willing to drive wherever I need to for a great cup of coffee. If the atmosphere is pleasant it’s a plus. Gentle Brew has an awesome atmosphere, amazing and knowledgeable staff, and AMAZING coffee brewed the way you want it. I asked about the vacuum brewing method because I had never seen it, and the staff were more than willing to answer any and all questions and tell me about it. I am so glad I went with this brewing method!!! My coffee was clean and smooth. The beans had great flavor and smell. I will be returning for more coffee.

Great coffee! Excellent baked goods! Go! Now! Wonderful local business. took me too long to break my relationship with SBucks but I’m not looking back! They roast their beans on the premises. do they do it «Gently» not sure but better late then never to give them my coffee biz.

After countless times going to Gentle Brew, I thought it’s about time I write a review. I recently started commuting from Long Beach to NYC on a 6:37am train. I’ve gone into Gentle Brew most mornings at 6:25 for the last month to grab a coffee, even though by week 2, I knew to keep my expectations low. I wanted to love this place so much and support a local café with so much potential. There are two major things that have consistently turned me off here over a 4-week period: coffee & service… So basically, the two major tenets of your local coffeeshop. The coffee: both the medium and dark roasts are consistently luke warm, even first thing in the morning when(I assume) it is just made. Also, when handed your coffee it should be bubbly, which indicates the freshness of the brew, and I think I had bubbles only a couple of times. It often has a very acidic taste and tastes burned. It’s not great coffee– but it’s one of the only open places on my route to the train, so I have continued going back. The service: there are a few young people who work here who like to talk about their bout of drinking the previous night or Facebook, or need to finish their conversation with one another before asking the customer what they’d like. More so, I know if there is someone ahead of me, it’s best not to wait because it will be forever. The staff has difficulty handling more than one customer at a time… so if you’re on your way to catch a train, you should check if there’s someone ahead of you, as it’s best not to wait! After today, I’ve finally reached my max. It’s not worth the stress of not making your train because the service is aloof, nor the disappointment of sub-par coffee. I’ll wake up 10 minutes earlier to make coffee in my French press. It’s sad because the potential is so great(it’s what I’ve been holding onto)… But this is the reality.

This coffee shop is the real deal. The bar looks more like a lab, with beakers, scales and siphons. They roast their own coffee and have scrumptious looking treats. I’m vegan and can only eat the paleo bars, but they’re great. The ambiance is rustic with classy chalkboard signs and brown paper bagged whole bean coffee. I also like the option of drinking your coffee from a mug as opposed to paper cups that will just be thrown away. I emailed them complimenting their business and asked about cuppings and they got back to me right away with a very kind email. I find myself going to Starbucks less and less, and supporting this local Long Beach coffee house instead.

Great coffee made the way you request… They roast the beans in the store and it tastes great… For those tired of the taste of burned beans at a chain store or two… try this. It’s local.

This place is a great spot to grab a quick coffee in a relaxed environment. The brews taste great and the muffins/fruit and nut bars always taste awesome. It’s also a good environment to get some work done as it’s usually not too loud like other coffee spots. The only downside is the lack of power outlets for charging phones and laptops. Only one or two in select spots. A small coffee place but with lots to offer. Ambiance is nice and it gives long beach a personal touch.

Received a notice for 10% offer. Since I was heading in that direction., I decided to stop in for my daily coffee. Must admit every coffee bean is different. Realized my taste of brews are developing. Finding myself trying several out. Must say we’ll done. Enjoyed my time here., selection are awesome. Will come back again. Friendly staffing. Line wasn’t long in placing my orders.

I’ve only had iced coffee here while visiting my dad, but it seems like a great place. At the self-serve milk & sugar station they have so many options: Almond milk, soy milk, and all the usual suspects as well. It was crowded on a Sunday morning. The guy working was super helpful and nice. Looking forward to going back on our next trip to Long Beach!

They live up to their shiny five-star reviews! Cozy atmosphere, comfortable seating, and most importantly… AMAZING coffee of any and every kind, roasted right at home. The team is friendly and personable. Gentle Brew is lovely, unpretentious, and serves a mean cup o’ joe! Yum!

Great coffee! No annoying hipster attitude either — the staff was friendly, super-accommodating, and had an overall good vibe. The space is clean and comfortable, with big chairs and couches. Highly recommended, and the only serious coffee shop in the area. Fuck Starbucks — go here and support local businesses!!!
