I heard this is the oldest dive bar in Long Beach. Looks like they only have beer here! No shots. No hard liquor. Isn’t a good place for big crowds. It was pretty crowded when I came here. They have old school tables and lots of old pictures. There wasn’t anymore seats when we came so we had to go in the back room which has pool tables. The restrooms are unisex.(I think). I went to one in the back and there was no sink to wash your hands! Then I went into another one and that one had a sink. I heard they were known for pickle eggs & hot dogs. The pickled egg tasted okay to me. It comes with pretzels and yellow chilies. The hot dog is actually called joe’s special. They cut the hot dog in half n put it in rye bread with mustard. I’m not a big fan mustard so I tried asking for ketchup. N no ketchup! So, disappointing!

Our favorite LB beer and sammie spot. Love us some schooners and special sandwiches! We always go during the day on a weekend and the place never disappoints. Fast friendly bartenders, great t-shirts and hats to go!

My family has been a fan of joes for three generations. My grandDad use to come here with my dad and now my dad comes here with my sisters and I . The eggs are the best! We always grab a jar on the way out. My pops loves the sandwich special.

If I could give them negative stars I would. This establishment only caters to regulars. Tourists be ware they will not serve you if a local or regular doesn’t want you around. Locals influenced the bar tender not to serve us because we were in their«seats». They let an opinion of a local influence the decision a bartender should have made. A local started talking poorly of my friend and saying he was overly inebriated. My friend sat quietly at the bar and was refused to be served. I understand if my friend was causing ruckus at the bar, however he was just sitting quietly at the bar. Yes he had a few drinks, but who comes a to a bar to be sober. The bar tenders have extremely poor judgment and I, nor any of my friends will be coming back to this bar. Locals have too much influence in who enters this bar apparently and will not let newcomers in. So much for an up and coming long beach. Hope this place dies out with the rest of its older clientele. I will repost this poor review everyday.

Dive bar. Location seems to be more Signal Hill than Long Beach, but I’m no realtor. Anyways, we were looking for a place to hang out until traffic died down, and this location was recommended by a friend. Found the place relatively easy, but parking was not easy. The small lot behind the place fills up quickly, and street parking is scarce. I was lucky enough to park right in front of the post office. The homeless man sleeping on the sidewalk graciously offered to watch my car. As advertised, the beers are COLD. The frosted beer mugs were thick-walled glass and kept the beers really cold. Price was better than a downtown LB bar or brewery. Heck, parking was free, so give me another beer! Pool tables in the back. Dart boards in the back. Bathrooms in the back. Food selection needs to improve. Tried one of the sausage sandwiches. Tasted great, especially after 4-beers. Nice place with locals, including a handful of cougars! Highly recommend if you’re in the neighborhood. Not too far from CSULB. Enjoy!

When I first visited Joe Jost’s pickled eggs were $ 0.35 and Pabst was the draft of choice. I think the Dodgers had just moved to Los Angeles. We now have grandchildren who know Joe Jost’s – five generations. What a gift to the community.
