We call this place home, since it is! John Henry’s Long Beach staple since April 2001. Consistency, freshness, and service is John Henry’s. Voted best wings in Long Beach, they big, juicy and meaty… no skin and bones here! Spectacular burgers and tidbits, people come from the north shore weekly to have them. Provisions shopping done daily, thus the freshest meals possible.

This place is delicious and everyone there was extremely friendly. We got the wings which were very good and I had a steak sandwich with sweet potato fries. A generous serving and very good sauce including honey mustard and great blue cheese. Highly recommend and I will absolutely be going back here

Advice: come for the beers and eat before. Went in for a few beers and some pub. The beers were spot on — cold and from what tasted like a clean tap. The French onion soup was good but the rest of the food was a disappointment and we left most of it on the plate. Flavorless, mushy, poorly prepared frozen food.

Good but not great pub. Food isn’t bad. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich with waffle fries which was a pretty solid choice. Beer choices looked good, but three of the beers we had asked for were all out so I was left drinking pumpkin Shocktop in February.(I do love pumpkin so I guess I’m not complaining) The service however leaves a lot to be desired. Our waitress walked by our table multiple times without checking in to see how we were doing and it took about 25 minutes after we were done eating to get the check. Overall, not terrible but wouldn’t rush back here.

John Henry’s is spot on. The food is really good and very well priced. You can’t go wrong at John Henry’s. Their sweet potato fries are amazing. The burgers are really good as well as the steak/chicken tidbits(buffalo style if you like spicy).

Here to grab burgers and watch some football. The place is a laid back pub but has a very dark atmosphere, dark walls and dark lighting. Music was playing along with the football game so it was a bit annoying and hard to focus on one. We came in because I was craving mozzerella sticks and my husband wanted a burger. The mozzerella sticks were cooked to perfection(yeah it takes a lot to mess those up but they didn’t and they tasted great!!) — my hubby got the mushroom cheddar burger and I got the bacon cheeseburger. they were both very delicious. Fortunately i can eat medium rare, because the waiter switched our requests when I asked for Medium. Burgers were juicy and flavorful, and I would def get the Cajun waffle fries too. Service could definitely use some improvement, I asked a few times for bbq sauce and nobody checked in on us after we began eating so we were never able to ask for napkins to accompany our messy food. All in all a decent pub so I’m giving it 2 wish I could give half if I could it would be 2.5 stars.

John Henry’s is more than your average pub. Their menu is basic, traditional bar food but they do it well. You barely even need to look — they have pretty much everything that you’d expect from this type of establishment. The inside is also unexpectedly really nice. Appetizers: — The French onion soup was so good! Bars tend to mess up French onion soup by making the broth super thick with excessive bread/onions. This was thin(as it should be!) and flavorful. The cheese was melted neatly and perfectly! — The mozzarella sticks were pretty good, too. Hot, standard, what you’d expect. Except one mozzarella stick was overcooked or something so all the cheese came out! Lol no biggie. The rest were fine. Mains: — My friend and I shared the steak tid bits. This platter was huge and easily enough for two. Sliced steak served on garlic bread with melted mozzarella.(Yes, this was a very cheese-heavy meal for us.) Also, the sweet potato fries that came with it were really good and perfectly crisp. — My other friend got the bacon burger. Again, with the crazy portion sizes, that thing was huge and looked amazing. Only problem here, and what warrants the 3-star rating is that service was very slow and disorganized. It took a while to get seated, we were standing there awkwardly because no one was around and the bartender was ignoring us because he was busy doing bartender things. It took even longer to order and get our food. The same bartender was our server and he ended up being nice, but the staff in general seemed very flustered and overwhelmed even though the place was pretty empty. Maybe we went on an off day? Anyways, I’d come back if in the area. One of the better places to get bar food.

Solid American pub food like burgers, chicken wings, and steaks. Good beer selection. Dining room is spacious and the service is reliable. Great place to grab a mid-price dinner and a beer!

I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. On particular night, I went here on a date and ended up in a great conversation with the friendly bartender and cook who were extremely jovial and made us feel right at home even when we were the last people at the bar and they were about to close. I came back with two friends and the staff remembered me and were super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back to enjoy their amazing turkey wraps and yummy quesadillas again soon! Great local atmosphere and excellent music selection too!

Came here with friends after a long day at the beach to have dinner and after we order our food we had to wait more than 45 minutes to eat?! The place was not busy. Also the waitress never came to communicate what was going on, didnt offer anything as a starter and when we decided to ask what was happening we had a really bad answer.

I’ve been here several times and each time it’s been pretty decent food. One thing that turns me off is there never is really a lot of people in there and the servers and manager always look like they’re just hanging out and waiting for more patrons to enter the restaurant. This especially kind of annoys me because each time I’ve been here I was trying to get my server’s attention to get a refill on my drink. Now all this aside, let’s get to the food. I do really like their wings. Not the best on Long Beach, but up there… probably in the top 5! They have your typical Long Beach menu with their style of tidbits and other bar options, but nothing that stands out. Aside from the wings I don’t really have anything stellar to say about their food. It’s not that it’s bad, it just lacks a lot of flavor and is pretty bland. Would I come here again? Probably not.

We stopped by because we were hungry and the 3-year-old was again screaming for ice cream. We searched on Unilocal for the closest burger joint, confirmed they had ice cream and off we went. For pub food, it was pretty bland. The steak sandwich we got needed pepper… in fact everything needed pepper. The potato skins weren’t skins, it was more like a half potato with filling piled on top. The portions are huge! Definitely get your money’s worth. Maybe we just didn’t order the right menu items?

Pleasantly surprised here. From the outside, it seems like a townie bar, which it is and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the food at townie bars usually isn’t the best. Luckily John Henry’s is an exception to the rule. The inside is better looking than I expected, everything in a dark wood tone, but still clean and neat. 6 – 8 beers on tap, small-ish bar and large dining space(totally thought it would be the other way around). On to the food… We rocked a turkey burger and chicken sandwich, both from the specials menu. Turkey burger was def made in house(check the pic), which is respectable and the chicken sandwich,(topped with mozz, hot cherry peppers, broccoli rabe) was moist and perfectly portioned. We both subbed fries for salad without a problem. Would def return for a low key meal and a brew. Pretty happy with everything here! Protip: skip the iced tea

Best burger in LB! And the waffle fries are excellent. Friendly people, great atmosphere and service at the right price. I’ve had the wings too, which were good, but I always seem to end up back with the burger.

Traditional pub, from the décor, to the drinks, to the menu. They do not stray from the basics, but the basics are done to perfection here. Possibly the best Buffalo wings in Long Beach. They are large and crispy, perfect hot sauce, served with bleu cheese, carrots, and celery. Sandwiches are awesome, great portion sizes and quality. One steak tidbits is easily enough food for 2 people. Waffle fries are plenteous and served with a roasted red pepper sauce, way better than ketchup. Nice tap beer selection, although disappointed to see Guinness is served in a can here instead of on tap. No Guinness drinker comes to the bar for a can of stout. Martini menu selection seems very 90’s to me. Caters to amateur female drinkers and soccer moms I suppose. «Susan, whatta ya say we get wild tonight and order a Cosmo!?» Bottom line: Quality comfort food. Reasonably priced. Great dining option.

Welcome to one of Long Beach’s best kept secret! Very comfortable/casual atmosphere w/a pretty extensive beer menu and amazingly, delicious food. From the wings — which are huge & well dressed(with the hot sauce), to the Succulent Ribs, juicy bacon cheeseburger, to the rustic Shepherd’s Pie. All of which did not upset… one dish better than the other. The soda was blah, but hey — you don’t do out to eat to indulge in soda. Oh, and another plus was our waitress MARY! She was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly & on top of her game. Just what a great server should be like! I highly recommend.

Yum! I’ve never eaten anything that wasn’t good here. The service is good and the prices are decent. Just a regular bar scene with better than average food. Favorite and highly recommended entrée: turkey melt on garlic bread with waffle fries. Delicious sandwich — after one taste you will crave it at random times! The baked clams are also large, filling and delicious. The sandwich is also large, enough for two so you may have a doggy bag. Either pack it at the table or check it when they pack it. I was there last night and I ate a few fries from a generous serving… I came home to find 3 fries in my container. One star off for that. Side note: I don’t eat wings but I’ve heard that they are among the best in the area from many people. Legendary wings.
