Long Beach Public Library

Well, I like this library in general. Like their location selection of books but their location of their computers is kind of distracting, because you’re trying to concentrate but you could hear everything going around you so its kind of hard. I wish the computers were in a separate room. Nice and helpful staff.

It is merely a collection although. It really is really worth an end, particularly for structures and collection enthusiasts. The property is really a postmodern eyes-​catcher. The inside is a little more conventional. I appreciated peeking in a couple of flooring, taking a look at a few of the artwork, to see the wintertime backyard. It’s a lovely feature, even though the winter garden is a wide open space with a few tables that were all occupied, so it wasn’t worth hanging out there.

I really want to give this little library a 5 or 4 star review, but I can’t. Its a great neighborhood place, with a good variety of books, despite how small it is, but it is not quite the whole package.
I come here because it is very close to home so I can walk here if I want to browse through the shelves, grab a book, sit down and do a little leisure reading or writing, or if I want to print something out in an emergency. But when I come here to study, that doesn’t work out well for me most of the time. The library is so small that you can hear every noise and it is so distracting… Librarians chit chatting amongst each other or helping visitors, kids being rowdy, visitors having their own conversations, and printers going off often. This is really not the place to go to for quiet time.

I love public libraries! Honestly they are the greatest expenditure of the city of Long Beach.
I have visit most of them but this one is the closest to where I live. Personally, I love it!
They are just so helpful and honestly caring about each library guest. I like to use the online system to look for books I want and place hold on them. Not only will they place the book on hold but they will deliver that certain book to your nearest library. WOW! That’s a wonderful option the library gives you especially since it’s free!
I can’t emphasize the advantages of a public library enough! No money spent on books is more money spent of food: D. I just love everything about these libraries. Libraries are one of the few things in life that don’t have negatives. Well maybe just the late fees… :D

I hadn’t been inside a public library to borrow a book since I was a child so going into the Long Beach Public Library last week was truly rewarding.
I’ve been an avid reader all my life and I’ve always had a book within arms length. Even 25 plus years soldiering, I always had a book buried in my gear somewhere. I had tons of ‘em, never tossing them because I wanted to have a ready reference available or needed to cite a source. Therein lay my problem. Moving these books became a pain in the ass. Boxes and boxes of books, some that hadn’t seen the light of day in years, became more burden than boon. I decided to do the simplify-​me thing and lighten my load but I hate yard sales where I bake all day in the sun to haggle over fucking pennies. So I went to the North LB library and donated many books, hundreds of them, expecting to simply drop them off and hit up In-​N-​Out for an animal style lunch. Then, an epiphany… instead of buying my books, why not use the library for its intended purpose? I’d been stuck on duh… just borrow the books, read ‘em and return ‘em! Such a novel idea (ugh). No more boxes to cart about, sort through or waste space, all my reference needs are available via the Internet and borrowing is much cheaper than buying. So I became a member, a card-​carrying LBPL user and danced a pas de deux with Shiva on the dwarf of ignorance.
Libraries have come a long way since I was little. CDs, DVDs, Wi-​Fi, computer access, audio books, virtual library @
) and so much more. They even have books here. And I know you know how frugal I am, it’s all free! With all the money I’ll save, I can do Bouchee’s Bistro instead of In-​N-​Out. I can do Donald Trump again (the resort) and write another flamer. I can afford Maker’s Mark instead of Old Gnasher. And now I have so much more room, I can store surfboards where the books used to be instead of laying them stacked like firewood on the patio. Thank you LBPL, I’m rewarded in more ways than one.
And think of this, with gas over $ 4/​gl, doesn’t having a good book in one hand, an icy martini in the other while laying in your hammock sound better than driving anywhere in this traffic? Does me, specially if you’ve got good balance.
