Orozco’s Auto Service

I will not be returning to Orozco’s. They very kindly inspected the air conditioning. The problem: Thomas assured me that there were no recalls and that it was not under warranty. I called the Honda dealer and was quoted $ 340 LESS to do the same repair, and was told that it is under warranty and it is fully covered.
UPDATE: OMG, they are totally CROOKS! I was told the AC COMPRESSOR needed replacing and it would be $ 1,000 plus to fix it or $ 1300 (with new parts).
The Honda dealer said the compressor is fine, it’s an electrical problem, the «relay». Cost $ 222.
To their credit, Orozco refunded the $ 89 inspection fee for their mis-​diagnosis.

Their prices are outrageous… I went in and asked them for a quote so I can compare with other local car shops… and they are the most expensive. Another thing I did’nt like was that I had my husband call back for a quote for the same maintenance work and they gave him a lower price then what they gave me. I understand car shops think women are dumb when it come the prices of car maintenance.

Love this place. I go to the one over on Alondra. Took my car there last week. Howard and Jovany really took care of me. They took off all four tires to check my brakes. After seeing that my brakes were still good, they put it all back together. FOR FREE!!! They know I’m coming back when it does need to be done. Thanks Orozco!!!

I brought my vehicle in for scheduled maintenance and Oliver & crew took excellent care of me. The work was performed well and in a timely manner, they provided a shuttle service, Oliver thoroughly answered all my questions, and they even topped it off with a great car wash. I couldn’t have asked for more. If you desire quality work and friendly customer service Orozco’s is the place to go.

I’m a field based social worker who works all over LA county. I broke down in long beach and went to Orozco’s because it was the closest shop around. I really got lucky stumbling across them. Not only did they take care of me right away, but I got out of there for under $ 50. No price gouging, no bs. To make matters that much better they told me exactly what they were doing despite the fact that it was painfully obvious I didn’t really know what they were talking about. Being treated like a human being by mechanics can be a pleasant surprise for me, and I highly recommend them to anyone who isn’t the most savvy with automobiles but wants to know what they are paying for without a condescending attitude. I’d give more stars if I could. Amazing service and highly professional.

Overpriced, Unprofessional, Lacking Customer Service Skills
I have brought two vehicles into Orozco’s on Atlantic, both with an outlandish price tag and less than satisfactory results for repair. My 2009 VW CC was brought in because the engine light was on. I was given a quote and the car was kept for more than four days. I would call the day I was told the car would be ready, only to hear that there was an issue and they needed more time. When I did pay the hefty tab and get my car out, the engine light came on. I took it back and was told I needed to bring it back in for additional work. I have been driving it for work everyday with the engine light on for the last 9 months.
Car# 2– 2009 Chrysler Pacifica: this car was brought in after it started running rich and leaking gas somewhere under the vehicle. I was quoted $ 150 for a smoke check to check for gas leaks. The next day I was informed the vehicle needed a computer. This computer is responsible for running the vehicle. I gave the go ahead and waited.
FAST FORWARD 11 DAYS: the vehicle is finally ready to go after a comedy of errors including: 1. Melted wires being discovered after the new onboard computer does not work. 2. A new wiring harness (after fixing melted wires does not work. 3. A second onboard computer is put into the vehicle. (This works, only it will take a few more days to get someone here to reprogram the security system. 4. When I came in to pay that hefty tap and drive the car off, I was informed that the oil dip stick was broken off in the engine during the repair, but do not worry: another dipstick has been ordered. I will be called when it arrives and they will fix it.
FAST FORWARD TWO MONTHS: the vehicle needs oil and I have not gotten a call. I took the vehicle in and left it. I was told they would call me when it was done. Two hours later, no call, I went in and was told it is done. The total was $ 85 something. I paid and left. The closer I got to home, the worse the taste in my mouth got. Didn’t an Orozco’s technician break the dip stick while it was in their shop? Didn’t Oliver tell me he was going to fix the broken dip stick two months ago? Why was I just charged $ 85 something for a new dipstick?!?
I called and spoke with Oliver. I told him I felt cheated and that the professionalism of his shop was a challenge, and all the other reasons I have not brought my VW back to him. He offered to refund the half hour labor if a came back. I turned around and went back.
ICING ON THE CAKE: 1. he asked me why I came back today. 2. He called me «Bro» as he told me I should take my business elsewhere. Oliver told me Oliver’s will not take my business in the future and that my warrantee would not be welcome at any Orozco’s location. Is this even legal?
MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE?

Thomas, thank you for a great service. You are the man. My Supra 1984, with over 300K miles now starts and re-​starts every trip I take after you have gone thru it. I didn’t mind the length of time that you worked on it because really it is the condition of the car that was the issue.
The Supra will not start after short trips. When I start the car in the morning, it fires straight away. But, when I just drive a mile down the road, parked and try starting it, the engine won’t catch. A few of my mechanic friends had looked at it, and they swore, the battery, solenoid and starter are fine. The fuses didn’t exhibit any parasitic drainage, either. So, they gave up and recommended your shop Orozco to look at it.
That’s why I left the Supra to your care. But, I was hesitant at first because the car has been serviced by a Toyota dealership for years. For sure, they would be able to diagnose and fix it. To my surprise, they too cannot duplicate the problem. I am always apprehensive about going to an auto repair shop. But, I am so grateful and beyond satisfied with my experience with you and your mechanics.
And, Servando when you came and picked me up from the house with that Mercedez, I thought Orozco’s pick-​up service is a class by itself. No idea that you run the whole Orozco enterprise, until I read your book. Being a manager moonlighting as a pick-​up service driver is like Obama driving his own limo without the Secret Service. How cool is that?
I have been telling and re-​telling my positive experience to my friends and highly recommend Orozco for their auto repair. Keep up the good work. This makes you top-​notch. Thanks again!

I have been taking my car here for years, but was considering looking elsewhere because it seemed the level of service had dropped off. I decided to take my car in one more time a few months ago when I needed a new clutch and was very happy to see the great service had returned. So when I needed a repair just recently, I did not hesitate to bring it in. Oliver was very helpful and explained thoroughly what was wrong and what needed to be done. He got my part quickly and had my car back to me in no time. I even got a free car wash! Glad to see Orozco’s is back!

I live in bixby knolls now so I’m looking for a good honest fair priced repair shop. The shop is clean but prices are on the high side for repair work. I may not return. why? I have asked 4 times for them to quote front end work repairs on my classic oldsmobile and have heard nothing, twice was in person. so I guess they don’t want to work on american classics .
I had asked for specific repairs, noted exactly which parts needed to be removed and replaced. I could do it, I restored two 442 Cutlass cars frame off, etc but my new smaller house in this historic distric has no room to perform car repairs in the garage. I may come back, I’m going to check out some 4 star repair shops with abundant Unilocal reviews in the neighborhood now.

I took my car here last week not knowin what to expect but God damn I was in for a surprise! Everyone who worked there was incredibly helpful and knowledgable and I felt like they were looking out for my best interests the entire time. I had quite a few things wrong with my car and they still had it repaired in a timely manner. Oliver is awesome and if you need your car fixed he’s the man to go to!

I’ve taken my work van there 3 times now and I’ve been very satisfied with the work they’ve done at Orozcos. Thomas has been straight forward and honest with me in every dealing and I finally feel that I’ve found a mechanic that I can Trust. Great guys, highly recommended

This place is so bad I don’t know where to begin. I took my car to Orozco’s beginning in December 2014 and again in February 2015, March 2015, and yesterday, April 27, 2015. On the original December visit, I needed brakes. After a couple of hours, I received a phone call whereby they explained a host of other problems even claiming that the car was not fit to drive and would be extremely dangerous. They supposedly fixed the brakes however the brakes were squeaking loudly. I returned the car again and they claimed that the brakes were not squeaking so I made a recording. Once I presented them with the recording of the squeaking brakes, the said they would replace the pads. Within two days the brakes were squeaking again. I returned the car again on April 24 and asked that they fix the loud squeaking noise. Again they claimed that they replaced the pads however the brakes began squeaking on the very day that I picked up the car (for the fourth time).
The management and employees of Orozco’s uses predatory tactics along with intimidation, scare tactics and threatening body language. As I was waiting on the third visit, one of the front line employees knelt down so his eye contact was directly in my face as if to give me some kind of guarantee that he was «on my side» and «sympathetic». These psychological tricks are also used when management calls the customer on the phone to say the car is «not safe to drive off their property» and you need to spend at least $ 1,000.00 to bring the car up to safety standards. When I noticed a large scratch near the right rear view mirror a technician came over and screamed, «I didn’t do that!» On one of the return visits I glanced at the receipts on the desk to see what kind of parts they were using and noted that they were using the cheapest possible parts and marking the price up to amount to huge profits.
Orozco’s is situated in the cozy and friendly neighborhood of Bixby Knolls. Their location gives people the impression that this is a family business, honest, and customer oriented. This is deceiving for it is clear that they are cheating customers and doing substandard work. The intimidation tactics and use of predatory and psychological games is a disgrace. I intend to report Orozco’s to the State of California, the District Attorney of Long Beach, AAA, and my insurance company. Beware of intense psychological pressure especially upon women.

Thank you for your excellent auto service. it feels nice to be able to take my car to an auto shop that explains the actual problems that need to be repaired. i have often felt clueless when i have taken my car to other auto repair shops. i look forward to your recommendations to service my car in order to avoid high priced auto services in the future.

Very accommodating but these people have no idea what they’re doing. Charged us over $ 1000 and didn’t even fix the problem. A week later the bottom cover of my car was hanging off, come to find out they had zip tied it back on with the thinnest zip ties possible. What happened to the bolts that were holding it on? Do not go here!

So we head in at 7:30 am on a Saturday to get there first in line. We had already spoken on the phone 3 days before. They said they needed 2 hours tops to rub a test on the transmission. We drop the car off at 7:30 am Saturday, leave them our number. Check the number to make sure they have it right, it’s good.
The day goes by and we hear nothing from them. We had to work during the day and when we finished we called them at 4:30. Guess what, they’re closed and not picking up the phone. They do not have a voicemail.
To make things WORSE they are closed on Sunday. So now we are out the car for the weekend. This is about the definition of horrible customer service.
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This place is crap.
