Purple Yoga

They are just finishing up a May Mantra that was a challenge to do ²⁰⁄₃₁ days of yoga at $ 105. Purple Yoga features instructor of diverse backgrounds and identities. Alex Roberts has an athletic mindful background and while his red classes have a vinyasa flow, he will add additional poses for those who want a challenge. There are instructors that teach at a faster pace if that is the style you want. I took my dad to do yoga who has never practiced yoga ever before (67 years old) and he is not super fit, but he is able to do yoga at his own pace. I have taken Alex’s class in both Fullerton and Long Beach.
Red does more push-​ups and flow, while green does more stances with no push-​ups.

Love the red class! All the teachers are awesome! For someone with a busy schedule, this is the yoga studio for you as they offer frequent classes. All the teachers are a bit different. My favorite class is probably Sidney’s class. In a convenient location right off of PCH. Only complaint is that in the downstairs class you can sometimes hear people walking up and down staircase. Love this place!

I was visiting Long Beach and I had a wonderful class at Purple Yoga. It’s a beautiful and clean studio with showers, mats, and towels. The studio itself was hot but not stifling. I definitely got a good workout and was sweating a lot. I took a Red class which I expected to be a little more vigorous, but like I said, I got a good workout and I was very pleased with the class and the instructor.

Tried my first class at Purple Yoga today and was very happy with my experience.
The studio itself is clean and well kept. The staff seemed friendly enough during my experience.
I took the Red class and was a little nervous because it’s described as a lot of inversions and balances. But the instructor was great at giving options for all levels. I felt comfortable to try and not be judged. The workout itself was intense and challenging, which I love.
The only reason I didn’t give Purple yoga 5 stars is because I forgot a water bottle and there isn’t a water fountain or Culligan or anything. They do sell water bottles but when I went to the front desk they were out. I was seriously dehydrated when I left so that just sucked.
But I will definitely be coming back.

I honestly can’t say enough positive things about Purple Yoga! Everything about this place is fantastic… The teachers, the classes and the positive energy you feel right when you walk in the door I’m so grateful

Purple is a legit sanctuary!
I’ve tried multiple studios; from Kava, YogaWorks, CorePower, among other local studios and none compare to Purple.
The staff are all phenomenal; Joe, Sequanna, Siri, Bonnie, Paramananda, Devon — however my favorites are:
— Julie Ko: doesnt teach as often but very sweet and light hearted, always a great workout and has that amazing mom feeling. See her if you’ve had a bad day and you’ll leave with a smile.
— Cidney (Bushidoni): this dude is INSANE! I adjust my work and personal schedule to attend his class. He will push you to your limits and kick your #ss. His classes feel like a mashup of an action movie & a rollercoaster. If you are looking to push your limits, GO TO HIS CLASS!
The studio is always clean, plenty of parking, lockers & showers; it has all of the amenities needed.
The ONLY suggestion/​complaint is there are no water fountains, you need to bring your own water or purchase a water bottle. Literally not a big deal but would be nice to have a fountain available.
Asides from that, still 5 stars.

I really love hot yoga. I come here on classpass. I really enjoy the great and the instructors. They are all very different from one another.
2 bummers:
1.)The people who are at the front desk are sometimes friendly and other times I feel like I am bothering them when I check in or ask a question (like if the class is upstairs or downstairs?) Sometimes they just seem so annoyed.
2.) No water! Really? I mean you can buy it but there’s nowhere to fill up your bottle. For a pretty small price they could get a water cooler.
Other than that, this place rocks!

Purple yoga is a very nice and clean studio! The hot classes weren’t as challenging as I’m used to, so I was a little bummed I didn’t leave with a workout. A great place for beginners, but I wouldn’t recommend for experienced hot yogis.

I truly love Purple Yoga, and credit my recent inner peace with my practices here.
I enjoy the wide variety of instructors and what they each have to offer.
Unfortunately… I’m pretty unhappy with the recent increase in prices, it seems less yogi and more money hungry. $ 20 a class is a bit excessive.
I will continue to support Purple Yoga, but it is starting to hurt my wallet.

I love that there are so many classes, it suits my always changing schedule well. Though one thing that really bugs me is that there is no water spigot to use when you bring your own bottle. Presumably because they sell bottled water. It feels anti-​yoga and money hungry and turns me off that they are ok with plastic waste for money profits. To boot, all of the classes I take are in a hot room at 100 degrees… come on.
EDIT: It was remiss of me not to mention that there are excellent instructors here. Very different styles brings lots of variety to each class… Cidney, Siri, Ace and many more. I guess my not mentioning the awesome instructors before goes to show how much the water situation can turn someone like me off. It still really bothers me, and it bothers me even more that the water spouts in the bathroom sinks are so low that you can’t fit a water bottle in either. But I do love the instructors!

The practice was awesome. Right away the studio makes you feel accepted no matter how much of a yogi you are. The male instructor was great! He was calming and led us through a fantastic work out. I give him a 5 star review. One thing is that I wish they wouldn’t pack the classes in so much. I got there early to get my space, and then when class started, I ended up having others like 3 inches away from me. I know yoga is about acceptance, but I don’t want to accept my neighbor’s sweat. :(Although this is a common problem at all studios like CPY and Ra (my other two main spots.) Other than that, great experience and I can’t wait to try another class here soon!

There are so many fantastic teachers at purple yoga! This studio gives their instructors a lot of freedom when it comes to the style of their classes. They are all vinyasa flow, but within that there is a really wide range of what you’re going to encounter. This has some pros (variety) and some cons (not a lot of regulation of what is actually happening in class sometimes). If you don’t care for one teacher… try another! With that being said, I know what to expect from some of the teachers I take the most.
Asako — no bs flow that is thoughtful, to the point, and strong
Ace — mindful but challenging, sometimes with longer holds
Alex — alignment based and informative with a sense of play
Kim — calming, clear, and perfectly catered to all levels
Liz — awesome at adjusting, eloquent, and knowledgeable
Molly — authentic and spiritual with a dance-​like feeling
You’re really in good hands with whomever you take here, and if you attend consistently you will really deepen your practice on many levels. Evening classes get busy (not sure about the morning), but if you like more space try taking class at the weird afternoon times (11:30−2:30). From my experience Blue 2.0 and Red are basically the same, just different temperatures. Friday night candlelight with Siri is awesome, as is yin with Vidya. And as a warning, if you are in the studio above of below when Cidney’s class is in session and he is in the zone… you will hear it!!! Just think of it as an extra layer of meditation to your yoga practice.

Great instructors and spotlessly clean. Cidney, Kim, and Siri and some of my favorites.
A variety of classes at nearly any time of day. Tons of $ 10 community classes.
Showers and lockers are an added bonus.
Plan on arriving to class at least 15 minutes early, as classes often fill up.
My only complaint is that the patrons of this studio are typically not friendly and don’t make space for others.

This place is perfect if you have an odd schedule like myself.
Last thing I want is to pay $ 109 a month (autopay price) and not go because my personal and work schedule could not accommodate. I work 12 hour shifts and spend my days off in San Diego. Even with this hectic schedule, I am able to make it to yoga 3 – 4 times a week.
During the week they have classes as early and 6 am and as late as 8:30 pm. This is perfect for my 7:30 am to 8:00 pm shift!
They have yoga for all levels. The red classes are real tough and perfect for those who want to lose weight. There are also classes that allow you to explore cool new poses.
I really love this place.

I am testing out the 2 weeks trial period. On Monday I took a red class with Jessica H and it was amazing. She was an excellent instructor and the poses were challenging. However, I just took at red class with Cidney Corpuz and it was terrible. He was so loud the entire class and disrupted us during meditation. He began the class talking about how he is a warrior and praising firemen, police officers and military. He wouldn’t stop making jokes and literally laying next to people’s faces and saying he was going to tickle them. This is NOT relaxing! He seems to love the sound of his own voice.
We started with a 30 min warm up which was where I almost left. I thought I made a mistake and went to a teacher training or beginner class bc he was going through each pose and explaining what it was. I was in child’s pose for 10 minutes then cat cow for 10 min. It was a terrible experience.
Also he was promoting his Instagram page which is tacky.
I want to continue coming but now I won’t be able to go Wednesday nights. Purple yoga, pay attention to your teachers and regulate their practice! He only had a quarter of the students Jessica did for a weeknight class at the same time.

I am an avid yoga student and this place is amazing!!! I tried it on class pass and I have to say it’s pretty great. Super clean, bathrooms are amazing and the shampoo and conditioner are so yummy and smooth. The yoga instructor was great also, she had us talk and get to know each other bf class which was new and really great. I love hat she opened class with having us share a lite bit about us and why we do yoga! She def is building community my doing that and k was truly grateful.
You should try this place out! Especially if you have a class pass

This is the first, and only, place I’ve tried yoga. I was quite nervous at first, that i wouldn’t be flexible enough or that I’d be embarrassingly out of sync with the class. While those things may well be true, they have never been pointed out to me and I’ve never felt uncomfortable there. All the instructors I’ve had have been great. They gently remind us, usually as general comments on poses, of proper technique etc.
I’ve been coming semi-​often over the past few months and really love it. I typically enter the class with a good amount of stress and mind chatter, and leave with a peace and sense of grounding. Not to mention the sweaty shirt as proof of a good workout.

Being a yogi and yoga instructor I really value great yoga studios and teachers.
The studio is clean, peaceful, and has two yoga rooms. One upstairs for the heated classes and one downstairs for the blue classes.
Purple yoga is a great place for yogis at all different levels. I would consider myself more advanced and like to take the Red or Green classes for a bit more of a challenge. These classes are both heated. The Red is a similar to a Power class, which usually includes a flow and can be a bit faster paced. The Green is also heated but the pace is a little slower and you really get deeper into your stretches. I really recommend Jessica, Cidney, and Ace.
If you are a beginner, have no fear! The Blue class is a perfect class for you. This class is set to room temperature and the teacher will lead you through all the postures slowly at first.
Wish they offered more specials on the class packages! Look out for those and check the schedule for class times!

Very nice little yoga place in Long Beach. They have a receptionist area, locker room, two rooms for classes and a small store downstairs. I was informed you need to bring your own lock for the locker room lockers. But there are cubbies inside each classroom that you can put your stuff too. You won’t see Purple Yoga from the parking lot as they’re more in the center of the shopping center. Park by the Bevmo and head in, you’ll find it quickly.
I attended a special gong yoga class here. It was my first time doing both yin yoga and adding the gongs. It was amazing, worth every penny. I may consider taking more classes here.
On their website they offer specials for new students. If I remember correctly it’s $ 20 for two weeks of unlimited classes with 20% off your first package of classes if purchased within those two weeks.

I am so humbled to have been able to share my practice with the folks of Purple Yoga — Long Beach.
While I in Los Angeles from the months of June and July. I experimented with several studios. Purple Yoga offered a great 2-​week intro that I just could’t let up. I attended both the Red Series and Red 2.0 classes. I recommend taking any class from Jessica Hallett, Cidney Corpuz, and Siri Delaney. These folks were my go to Hot-​Power Instructors. Each with their own unique twist on a hot power vinyasa, it was interesting to have the opportunity to not only practice with such variety, but also be engaged and challenged on different frequencies.
Playlists were always on point, the instructors always brought the heat (pun intended) and such a beautiful studio space — what more could you ask for? To top it all off, there were even shower stalls in the men’s room, awesome! As an out-​of-​towner, Purple Yoga was a sufficient and very satisfying place to come and find my spiritual practice. I would certainly come back again and practice at the Long Beach location.
