I think I have had three meals here now and all of them have been great. The best I would have to say was for my 32nd birthday when my brother, his girlfriend and mine all had a meal here to celebrate… and he snuck in a piñata! It was hilarious. They also have some live entertainment and some of the best specialty drinks around… I dropped more than a few pennies on Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon… but man was it worth every drop. Great good, great views, great service…

I went here for my anniversary and had the best time. For appetizers we had the queenies and burrata caprese salad. The caprese was so delicious because I love burrata and they gave nice big slices of heirloom tomatoes so I was really happy I chose it. The definite winner though were the queenies – bacon wrapped scallops in butter. I could’ve eaten a plate full! My boyfriend and I loved them and agreed next time to order more. The lobster salad was also pretty good. For dinner we got the beef Wellington and the grilled shrimp. My grilled shrimp was good, but the sauce wasn’t my favorite, I’m not a big fan of sweet sauces. The beef Wellington was very good though, it was cooked perfectly. We didn’t order a dessert, but they brought us each a chocolate covered strawberry which was really nice. The service was really great as well. I’m definitely going back.

Last night went there for my wife’s birthday. The place was not busy but it still took them 20 minutes ask for our drinks. After the drinks we had to get someone to get our waiter so we could place an order. We had to even ask for bread. The service was extremely slow we ordered a soufflé for dessert, after dinner they informed us that it was not ready and is going to take more time it’s already been an hour since we were sat down. I even ordered coffee which they never brought in a refill. I’ve been to this place quite a few time, seem like the service is going down, the place is still beautiful, but with this kind of service I don’t need to go back

Why a 2 star rating? Because the staff is incompetent. It’s sad really because this place has a skilled bartender who is very friendly. That’s the only person in this place that makes this place bearable. My friends and I came to this place after winter wonderland. After several drinks, the time had come to leave. Halfway home toward Pasadena, we realized that we left the photograph that we bought at the bar. No problem we thought because normal places have a lost and found and decided to call Sir Winston the next day. I’ve worked in customer service. If there are any belongings left we bring them to lost and found and wait for the individuals to either call or come to claim. We called for a week straight and not one time did they call us back. Suffice it to say we will not be going back for overpriced drinks and inattentive drones.

Was really looking forward to fine dining in a beautiful environment. Love to have a caesar salad prepared tableside and that is what Sir Winston’s said they offered, «Caesar | tradional, prepared tableside». However if you are going to do that then you need to make the dressing tableside with all of the classic caesar ingredients. You can’t roll out a bowl, throw in some romaine lettuce, pour on some store bought dressing and mix it up and charge $ 26, for 2 people, this was beyond lame. Then the entrees arrived, they were spit warm. I will have to say that the tenderloin in the beef wellington was a nice tender cut of meat. None of the 4 entrees were above average. Don’t bother wasting your $ here.

Qualifier: This review is based on the meal with the ‘Dining with the Spirits’ tour. Having been to Winston’s before and thoroughly having enjoyed our experience, we were excited to not only dine in style again but also do some ghostly paranormal hunting as well. Sadly the ghosts got in the kitchen and scared away the quality. We had an excellent table and everyone was very pleasant so all started well. The wine list was okay although I’m surprised they do not offer a Malbec. Oh well, the Syrah was very good for the price. We were given our ‘portion’ of bread in fine style, placed our orders of the set menu and awaited the feast to begin. I say ‘portion’ because we were never asked if we wanted some more. We both started with the lobster bisque. I found it salty and almost bitter near the bottom of the bowl. It was very rich was lacking that wonderful hint of lobster. Talking to others they commented the caesar salad was crisp but thin on flavour. The NY Strip was not very good. Once again over-seasoned and all I could taste was the salt, and for me to say something has too much salt is truly and event! I could be melodramatic and say my arm is still sore from trying to cut through the gristle and meat. Suffice to say the meat did not melt when cutting through it. The desserts were a disappointment. I had the Crème Brûlée and doing the tap test on top, there was no crispy crust. My spoon sank right through. The apple tart? my wife had to ask for a knife to get through the crust. Dry and tasteless. We were out a pub the other night and had a $ 8 burger. Our waitress checked on us several times on how we were enjoying our food. Not one person touched base with us the entire evening until walking out the door and the hostess said she hoped everything was okay. Not certain if that is indicative of the culture or the fact you are on a set menu and if you do not like it, too bad. Either way someone should have taken the time and at least put on the charade of pretending to be interested in how was our meal. If this was my only Sir Winston’s experience, I would never go near the place again. As I mentioned, our experience in the past from ordering off the menu was excellent. Regrettably the Dining with the Spirits was a complete bust.

My Favorite restaurant in Long Beach and possibly in So Cal! Sir Winston’s has amazing service! Especially our server Benjamin(ask for him when you dine there). Also J.B. the manager is very kind and attentive to all the customers! Everything on their menu is absolutely amazing, we’ve been there multiple times and always enjoy our food, drinks, appetizers and desserts! I recommend the beef wellington, the french onion soup, and a drink called ‘Passionate affair” if you are a sweet, and fun flavored alcoholic drink seeker vs. tasting pure liquor this drink is for you! Taste like an adult fruit punch! We miss the original Soufflé’s :((something about their egg distributor?) but all the other desserts are just as delicious too, so try one, try all! They always give you complimentary chocolate covered strawberries… so amaze! We will continue to keep be coming back over and over again! Thanks for all the memories and awesome service S.W.!!

We were here New Year’s day, and while our server Courtney, and the service in general, were all very good, there is almost nothing good at all to say about the food. For appetizers, we ordered a carpaccio(the only tasty thing we ate, though the arugula was pale and old, not fresh) and a caprese, which consisted of three soggy half slices of over-marinated tomato and three little pieces of soft cheese. No basil. When I asked about the basil, described on the menu as being Thai Basil, the server explained that it was a basil sauce. I’ve been eating caprese for 25+ years and this was a poor, poor rendition. We could barely lift the tomatoes from the plate with our utensils because they were so mushy and would just fall apart. $ 16 for that? For entrees, we ordered the Dover Sole and the Chateaubriand. The sole was one of the most flavorless pieces of fish I have ever eaten. I had to ask for salt and pepper and douse it. The veggies that came with it were drastically undercooked to the point of the carrots being almost raw. The Chateaubriand had a decent sauce on it, but the beef itself was very, very meh both texturally and flavor-wise. The Sole was $ 41, and when I pay that much for a few small pieces of fish, I expect it to be delicious(or at least seasoned?). There is great food which you can charge higher prices for, then there is Sir Winston’s… Now here’s the clincher: our check came(photo included) and upon arriving home, we realized it had been mis-tallied: the items do not add up to the sub-total, so we ended up being charged $ 6 more for nothing(then taxed on that amount). If you want fine dining, this place has the service part down, but the food was mediocre at best and make sure they don’t overcharge you.

My wife and I had our first wedding anniversary dinner here. This was our second time eating here and much like the first time we dined here, back when my wife was my then girlfriend, dinner was fantastic. Since dinner our second time around was in celebration of our marriage, our experience was spectacular. We were seated by a window just as I requested when I made my reservation. Our server was on point and very attentive. Dirty plates spent no more than a minute on our table before getting cleaned up. The food was outstanding. We started with an order of oysters. They were clean, fresh, and quite tasty. We followed up with a lobster bisque and table side Caesar salad. The bisque was creamy and full of lobster flavor. I know some reviewers have stated that the bisque was salty, but I did not notice any saltiness. It was perfectly seasoned. My wife enjoyed the Caesar salad although there really isn’t much to a Caesar salad. She did rave about the croûton and stated that it was really crispy and very tasty. For our main course, we ordered the Chateaubriand for two. We ordered this the first time we dined here and it was so fantastic that we just had to order it again. Our main course was brought out in a cart and was hand carved at the table. We ordered it medium rare and it was perfectly cooked, more on the rare side which we both love. Honestly, we’re not sure why sauces are provided with the Chateaubriand because it is so flavorful by itself. There’s nothing like a perfectly seasoned cut of premium beef that doesn’t take away from the natural flavor of beef. The meat literally just melts in your mouth. We ordered a Grand Marnier soufflé for dessert and it was a perfect match for something a little sweet after our main course. We were surprised by our server when we were presented with a small cheesecake with a piece of chocolate with«Happy anniversary» written on it. I didn’t request this, but someone must have taken note when I made my reservation. Following dinner, we spent the rest of the evening in Sir Winston’s lounge. There was literally no one there which made for a very intimate setting. We were a little disappointed that the lounge closed at 10PM on a Saturday night. Our original idea was to head over to the Observation Bar, but there were so many company parties going on that we didn’t feel like having to fight over a ton of other people just to get a cocktail refilled. The lounge closed at 10PM, but we were given last call at 10:30PM. We left the lounge at 11PM and we were literally the last patrons to leave. Nevertheless, we never felt rushed to leave and everyone was so friendly. My wife and I will surely dine here again sometime.

SALT!!! I think they were out of salt that night… I was excited to see that they had beef wellington on the menu. Unfortunately that is where the excitement ended. For a place that charges as much as they do you would think that their steaks would be seasoned perfectly. While the meal was slightly disappointing I will say the service was really good. I don’t think my water glass was ever empty. They ever provided a complimentary sorbert prior to the meal to «cleanse» the pallet. Parking is validated for a discount but not free. Probably better to just valet… Overall the service was good but I would not return for the food.

During a mini staycation before baby arrives my husband and I spent the night aboard the Queen Mary, as our dinning option for dinner we decided on Sir Winston’s Restaurant and Lounge. We are very happy we made the selection we did, it was a fantastic expertly cooked meal. We wanted to try as many items as possible — we started the meal with the Chilled Crab Timbale appetizer, the Lobster Bisque as our soup course, the Tomato Caprese as a salad course, the Beef Wellington as our main dish and a side of Grilled Artichokes with Aioli. We shared everything considering we ordered literally one of everything. The service began with warm freshly baked french bread and raisin bread accompanied by a thyme salted butter. The bread was fantastic and kept on coming as our courses were severed. The chilled crab timbale was so good — it was fresh lump crab atop large slices of avocado, and a corn relish, the crab came with two pieces of pita bread — the bread was a disappointment it was overly seasoned and quite underwhelming when compared to the quality of the crab. The lobster bisque arrived next — the flavor was amazing exactly what a creamy lobster bisque should taste like, the only downside here was that the bisque was cold upon arrival — this could have been due to the soup being served in a cold bowl. The tomato caprese salad was completely flawless — large thick slices of red and yellow heirloom tomatoes covered in a tangy balsamic with fresh basil slices and the most decadent burrata cheese which was served in abundance — this was by far my favorite part of the meal. Our main course arrived next the beef wellington — we had asked for the truffle sauce on the side wanting to control how much of the truffle flavor we got in case it was too overwhelming, what we learned instead was that the sauce was amazing and because we ordered it on the side we literally got a gravy boat full of sauce — SCORE! The beef wellington was cooked to a slightly over done medium although it was still very juicy and melted in our mouths. The mashed potatoes were nothing special and the accompaniment of seasonal veggies was not very impressive, the beef was by far the highlight of the dish. Along with the beef we ordered a side of the grilled artichokes, they were mini artichoke hearts grilled and covered in aioli and thyme they were very good and full of lemon flavor. Unexpected surprises also accompanied the meal after the salad course and before our main dish we received a pallet cleanser of champagne sorbet it was super refreshing. At the end of the meal we also received two dark chocolate covered strawberries — it was a perfect end to the meal. Overall there were very few missteps — the cold soup, underwhelming pita with the appetizer, the sides for the beef wellington and the overcooked beef. Due to those items I couldn’t justify a 5 star rating — but we will definitely be back to try additional goodies!

The manager is very mean and rude. We will never go there. We had few drinks(very good) and shared an appetizer(flat) and had a lovely time at the bar area. The barmen is a very nice person. Then, we kindly asked if they can validate our ticket at the reception while leaving as it is advertised everywhere and we were told at the ticket office while getting our vouchers. The manager(who were standing there) asked us what we had at dinner! and if we had ‘entrees’! and said they cannot validate our parking ticket because we didn’t have any entrees. BTW, we would have entrees and spent less. His attitude ruined our night. This kind of people should not make any money in the service industry. This restaurant looks like a fine one but if you have a manager like this, just go bankrupt, you deserve it. We don’t care about few bucks, but that attitude was just ruined our night.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday and we both were extremely impressed. We had reservations for 7:30. I ordered the Queen Mary champagne which was great. Our waitress was very nice and our drinks were constantly full. I ordered the lobster bisque which was delicious! Without a doubt the best soup I’ve ever had, it had tiny bits of lobster in it. My boyfriend had the Caesar salad he enjoyed it very much. After we were finished our waiter brought us a complementary sorbet to enjoy before dinner. Very good. Dinner I ordered the grilled shrimp. It was very good although it just tasted like tuna on top of shrimp, but I still enjoyed it since I love seafood. My boyfriend got the beef Wellington which was extremely delicious! He let me try a bite and I wish I had ordered that, it was incredible. After dinner our waitress asked if we wanted desert, we both said no. My boyfriend was confused and thought I wasn’t going to get a cake. It was super cute she definitely did that to trick us to surprise me. A few moments later a cake came out, It was very good. After the cake we got complementary chocolate covered strawberries. This place deserves 5 stars, the service was incredible and the food is outstanding. The décor is very nice, it’s a great place for dinner. Thank you Sir Winston’s for making my birthday dinner unforgettable! P.s Some people were dressed very causal, jeans and t shirt. Although its recommend to wear proper attire.(says so on a sign right when you walk in)

For the price they charge they could at least put in some air conditioning. Dinner was hot and uncomfortable. Their food is really nothing special, I had the lobster bisque which was decent, the salad was not worth $ 15. Why do they ask how we want the beef wellington cooked if they just cook it well done? This place, no thanks.

Came here to dinner with my sister because I really wanted to try the beef wellington. I didn’t know where to park, so I ended up doing valet. It’s $ 22! But $ 15 if you get validation. Luckily, when I exited, the guy just let me go for free, but you can definitely park in the lot and not pay as much. To get on the ship, we needed tickets, so we paid $ 30 for the both of us to get on. I believe we could have used the dinner voucher to get that price off our meal, but we totally forgot, so that was a missed opportunity. The restaurant is on the 4th floor. Once you get there, you go up another staircase, and Sir Winstons is on the corner. There was a beautiful view of the Long Beach skyline as you walk to the restaurant. Truly gorgeous as we came as the sun was setting. If you’re making reservations for dinner, try to plan around the sunset. The restaurant itself has an old school classy feel to it. Proper attire is required, but I saw some people that were dressed pretty casually. We order the Queenies as an appetizer, which were the scallops wrapped in bacon. Delicious! Seasoned and seared perfectly. I do wish their was more bacon on the scallop though as there was a very thin strip on the outside. After the scallops, our waiter brought us a lemon sorbet to clean out pallet. Nice touch and I really liked the sorbet. For our entrees, I got the beef Wellington. This was the first time I’ve ever had this dish and I thought it tastes great. The pastry was crispy and seasoned and the meat was tender and juicy. I also enjoyed the mash potatoes on the plate. My sister got the special, which was their surf and turf — a 7oz lobster tail and a 7 oz steak. She loved the steak. The seasoning on it really made her night and she was raving about it long after. The lobster tail was also juicy and the butter sauce that went with it completed it nicely. For dessert, we got the chocolate molten cake. Very rich. It was good but I really wanted the soufflé, but unfortunately, they didn’t have it that night. All in all, it was a great, enjoyable dinner. We were able to walk around the ship and explore a little afterwards as well. It is more on the pricey side, so I would probably only come back for a special occasion.

Love, love, love! Everything about this dining experience was phenomenal and unique. The venue itself is crazy(a larger than Titanic sized ship?!) and the evening spent exploring the boat with it’s rich history would have been enough. But then we descended on Sir Winston’s which unleveled our entire experience! Considering the prices, my group dove straight into the dinner menu and also procured a glass or two of wine along the way. We were all quite hungry, so the variety of breads and butter that was offered was gobbled up quickly and we ordered another round. We were all surprised by a quick lemon sorbet to cleanse our palette(see photo) before the main meal arrived. My dinner of sea scallops and asparagus was not only beautiful(photo attached), but tasted delicious! The waiter was one of the best parts with his stories, recommendations, and interest in helping us make the best choice for our evening. Considering I’ll be back in the area every now and then, I’m pretty sure one dinner is going to be at Sir Winston’s on each trip!

Went with my boyfriend and his parents to this awesomely fancy restaurant tonight and had such an exquisite night! It rained quite a bit starting from the early evening throughout the next few hours after that, but I guess the view from where we sat was still gorgeous, nonetheless! Appetizers: Lobster Salad(4⁄5 stars) Braised Pork Belly(4⁄5 stars) *A small strawberry sorbet in between was deliciously refreshing* Entrée: I got Grilled Shrimp(5⁄5 stars) This entrée had 3 giant grilled shrimps stuffed with lobster and crab meat in them, plus some string beans, a carrot, mini potatoes, and asparagus. One was enough to make a meal, ended up taking it to go :) *Complimentary dark chocolate covered strawberries was a good mix of sweet, sour, and bitter* Dessert: Warm Apple Cinnamon Tart w/ice cream(5⁄5 stars)

My husband surprised me with an overnight anniversary stay on the Queen Mary. By no means is this a five star destination spot… the ship appears a bit haggard actually but overlooking the cosmetic deficiencies and focusing on the history and grandeur of the past this was an enjoyable way to spend our anniversary. Our reservations were for 6:30 pm which is a beautiful time of day. Although we were not seated at a table by the window we still had a lovely view of the Long Beach skyline and the water. There is really not a bad seat in the house. It was a bit on the quiet side despite the fact there were other diners who also were interestingly quiet as well. Some soft background music or perhaps music of the Queen Mary heyday would be a nice touch and add to the ambience. We split a Farmer’s Market salad and we both still had a very generous portion. Yummy goat cheese, brussel sprouts, beets and crunchy almonds made this a tasty precursor of the meal to come. The warm bread, particularly the one with fruit and nuts, was delicious. One thing we are not used to in the dining out experience is taking the time to enjoy the wait for your meal. It seemed a bit on the long side, but we used it to digest our food. They also brought a seriously delicious and perfectly portioned champagne sorbet to cleanse the palate. It was cool and refreshing; not overly sweet with a few strands of grated orange peel to add a pop of flavor. Our entrees arrived with much flourish… delivered by two servers at the same time. My husband ordered the surf and turf special… a beautifully done filet mignon and a somewhat overdone grilled lobster tail. Being from Boston we have eaten our share of ‘lobstah tail’ and this one was a bit chewy and overdone. My meal consisted of three huge grilled shrimp stuffed with a generous portion of crabmeat enhanced by some crunchy celery which helped to break up the very smooth texture of the stuffing. Served with green beans, asparagus, carrots and fingerling potatoes, there was far too much food for my stomach although it tasted very good. The shrimp had a lobster like quality and taste but was still tasty. A word of caution. While this is a unique dining experience it certainly was not necessarily haute cuisine. The pricing however was quite haute. Really haute and not necessarily in proportion to the quality or preparation of the food. However, it WAS our anniversary and we were ON the Queen Mary so what the heck. We were mildly amused by the fact that our meal was almost exactly double what our room cost! My husband had a glass of merlot with dinner and not being a wine connoisseur enjoyed the glass. We were pleasantly surprised and treated to two really delicious chocolate covered strawberries as a dessert. We didn’t order them and I’m not sure they knew it was our anniversary but they were a delightful ending to a memorable meal in a historically significant location… The service was really good by the way. You can tell they all try to do a very nice job and they care if you are having a good time. I sort of got the feeling that they recognize the pricing is a bit off but they did their best in serving the food the kitchen sent out. The staff was great with clearing the table as soon as our plates were empty and our silverware indicated we were through. Thanks for a great evening!

How have I never heard of this gem? I found it while searching for dining options aboard or near the Queen Mary. My husband and I went and were seated in the lounge. The booths were quaint and dimly lit making it feel as if we were aboard an oceanliner of days past. I had the beef wellington as it was a house specialty. It was delicious. The meat was thick and I used a butter knife to cut it. We ended with the chocolate soufflé for dessert. We also received complimentary chocolate covered strawberries at the end. It was a unique dining experience that is fit for a special occasion or to treat out-of-town guests.

Sir Winston’s is a very beautiful restaurant located aboard the RMS Queen Mary. Upon entering you must be dressed well. Dress is enforced, no T-shirts, shorts. Dress nicely. There is a gorgeous bar and sitting area to the right of when you enter Sir Winston’s. The drinks are stiff and pretty pricey. Well Worth the money. There is a piano in the sitting area that a pianist will be playing for tips. The Titanic song was playing when we came in… Was perfect! Loved it. The piano and that sitting area is claimed by many to be haunted by a lady in white. Only way to see her dancing by the piano is by coming to Sir Winston’s. ;) Okay the food! After having a few drinks at the bar, we were seated promptly. The staff is so caring and attentive to the customers. Any needs will be taken care of right away. Drinks and water refilled whether you need it or not. They are that quick! The food is amazing. We had an appetizer of bread and butter. So good! I tried not to fill up on it tho. Caesar salad was delicious followed by an intermezzo of sorbet. I ordered the Salmon for my entrée. Exquisite. I wasn’t really impressed by the apple tart that I ordered for dessert but meh, it wasn’t a big deal. I was plenty full anyway. See you again soon! Sir Winston’s, 5 stars!
