We started at the bar and drinks were quite tasty. I had a Johnny Walker black and Coke while we waited about 20 minutes to be seated since we didn’t have a reservation. Our waiter Art was extremely courteous, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. He offered to validate our parking. Even though I forgot my ticket in the car, he managed to grant us 3 hours. We ordered the Chelsea Claim Chowder. $ 10 a bowl but very tasty. Followed it up by. California Chopped Cobb Salad around $ 18. We also ordered Spaghetti and meatballs which were great. Will definitely come back another time.

I’ve been here yesterday. Me and my friend wanted to sit next to the window and when we asked hostess guy to take a sit at a different table, he made us a face. Waiter never smile and never asked if everything is ok. Food was extremely spicy, I couldn’t eat it and left my plate almost full. I ordered vegetarian gluten-free pasta with mushrooms and asparagus. They put only roots of asparagus, that you would usually cut off. Very bad experience.

Pretty good grub. The complimentary sourdough bread was surprisingly good and addictive. I almost filled up on it. I had the spicy patty melt and upgraded my side to the New England clam chowder. My sandwich had a flavorful thick burger with savory bacon. The chipotle sauce had just the right of kick. My chowder had great flavor though it was served a little cold. My wife had the shrimp scampi. Also a pretty good dish with generous amount of shrimp. It was served more alfredo-like than traditional butter scampi but was delicious nonetheless. Service was good too.

I made a reservation for my boyfriend’s birthday and we were both disappointed in the service and the menu. What they had on their online menu was not quite the same as the menu they presented us with. I wanted the chilled crabmeat and was told they were out of that. I had to ask to have 2 lobster tails because it was not on the menu we were given but was advertised on the online menu. In fact the first 3 things I inquired about they said they did not have it. My food was good but he was disappointed with his salmon. I am confident that we will not be going back

It was my first time here and I heard about their Clam Chowder and of course it did not disappoint. I’ve had clam chowder in probably every restaurant I’ve been to and this is one of the best by far. Ordered the surf and turf. Great portion. The lobster tail was huge. The view of downtown long beach from my seat was beautiful. Definitely coming back again!

The hosted not the friendliest told me wait is 20 minutes. Which was fine, finally we got to be sitted. All we ordered was a sandwich and a burger. 45 min the food wasn’t here yet. Every time I asked how long more they kept saying will be there in 5 min. The setting is very casual for the price of the food. Quality was good but wait was ridiculous. Won’t come here hungry next time :)

Fish tacos were good, but breaded(I prefer grilled), They had a lot of fish with a good chipotle sauce… I wish there had been more of the sauce. The gnocchi with chicken in a carbonara sauce was average… I’m from San Francisco, and this dish would never fly there. Reuben, our server was attentive and delivered good service. The wine, a C.K. Mondavi, was smooth and satisfying. You must have a reservation, as they quote a long wait to walkins. Enjoy!

I do not recommend this place unless you have a small fortune to spend and lots of time to waste. The Chelsea Chowder House is on the Queen Mary in a smallish space with drab décor. The tables are lined with brown butcher paper which doesn’t quite fit the proposed atmosphere by looking at the menu. The menu prices indicated it was either fabulous food or marked up based on location. Unfortunately the latter was true. The food was decent but prices were not in line with the quality or service which was very slow in a half empty dining room. We ordered the $ 10 clam chowder and received a 8oz cup of watery generic soup. The $ 7 small side of Mac and cheese was ok. My $ 24 fish taco plate was also just ok. Also ordered was a half chicken plate $ 26 and salad $ 12, plus another $ 10 cup of soup and a beer. The food was plenty and on the good side mostly but the wait staff was just absent for the most part. We got drinks, a wait then bread was delivered, a wait and then we placed our order and then waited and waited and during this long wait I was able to take two kids to the bathroom two separate times, my hubby downing a beer and then just waiting for something finally asking for a second but finally the food was delivered. They didn’t bring soup and salad out until the meals were ready which was just all dumped on the table all at once. The dining room was not full, it was barely half full so I’m not sure what happened but it just seemed like we were sitting there for hours. Fortunately our kids were busy looking at the fabulous view and playing somewhat contentedly so it was just ok. Wouldn’t go back though as we shook our heads on the way out like we were caught in a time warp in the Queen Mary…

I loved it here. Xmas dinner consisted of three courses for 49.95. First course was a choice between salad or chowder, second course was the entrée(steak and shrimp, chicken, or salmon), and third course was dessert. The dessert wasn’t anything to write home about but it was okay. Parking is $ 8 with restaurant validation(3 hour max). The service was good, too. You can dress up or down. One guy was even in his Xmas jammies. The best thing is being able to walk around the ship afterwards… great view of Long Beach and of the ocean. We are def coming back!

The food was great, the view was awesome and the servers were good as well. I had the cedar plank salmon and wifey had the shrimp scampi, both were excellent.

It’s been close to 10 years since we visited the Queen Mary and this time we decided to eat at Chelsea’s Chowder House. We made reservations for a party of 5 at 12pm but instead they booked us for 5pm. However, we were still able to get seated at noon with no issues. The restaurant was nice and had great ocean views! Overall the servers were pleasant and helpful… but our waitress did forget to place an order for our table. We had to remind her and then ended up cancelling the item. As for the food we ordered the salmon and the ribeye steak. The salmon was solid, but the steak came out lukewarm, not hot as it should be, and it came out well done and not medium as I had ordered. I didn’t notify anyone because I was already hungry and didn’t want to have to wait for another plate. Service: 3-stars Food: 2.5-stars Though it was a decent experience, I wish the food and service for Chelsea’s Chowder House would’ve matched their great location to give diners a complete dining experience. They can do so much more and I hope they do strive for improvements.

Excellent go to for seafood. I had to have the seared scallops. It was prepared perfect. I savored each scallop. The presentation was superb. I was completely satisfied with well seasoned entrée. I plan to come back and try out the other seafood entrée. Great evening view of Long Beach. A great place for a celebration.

Went in last(Tuesday) night with GF. I had made reservations in advance so the QM concierge/doorkeepers just tell you to go right in, take elevators to the 4th floor, and follow the signs; there was no need for vouchers with reservations. Based on other Unilocalers, ordered shrimp scampi, soup of the day(tomato-basil), blackened snapper, and crème brûlée for dessert. Overall very nice, not crowded, nice views of pike/shoreline village from across the channel. Was worried because pictures here show what appears to be small portion sizes for price, but what we got was mediumish-size so not bad at all. GF can’t eat meats and bacon so couldn’t order clam chowder since waiter said it had bacon in it(would be nice to have baconless version of it). Asked waiter about soup of day and he said no bacon or meats in it so we got that, but GF noticed that it had something in it… she thought it was bacon but I tasted it and I thought it was some kind of diced fish like salmon or something since it wasn’t salty and didn’t have that dual texture(of bacon and fat). Asked waiter what the little chunks in soup were and he said sun-dried tomatoes but it was definitely some kind of meat. Not knowing what it was, she had to stop eating it and I had to finish it. Was good but disappointed accurate ingredient information was not available. Food was good, service was good, and while pricey I’ve had a lot worse for about same price and more(Pacific Coast Grill in Cardiff by the Sea comes to mind for that one). Crème brûlée was eggy and not sweet, which was good. So yeah, total damage was $ 90 for a nice dinner for two with a nice view. Would definitely return, but probably won’t order soup of the day again. Afterwards you can walk around the ship too so not bad value at all, provided you don’t stay more than 3 hours total(including eating time), as parking validation is only good for 3 hours.

The bartender and servers were excellent! Very professional and attentive without being overbearing. Happy Hour is a great deal so it gave me the opportunity to try the crostini, oysters, and clam chowder. The chowder tastes just like it does back home in Boston! The oysters were fresh and the variety of sauces were welcome and delicious! Crostini came with GIANT slices of mozzarella which I will never complain about with a bed of greens and tomato over balsamic dressing. This was my favorite meal on the ship and I would gladly come back here anytime. I’ve even heard that I can come back on with $ 15 payment to access the ship which will apply to my bill at any restaurant! This would be my choice.

I’m surprised this place only ranks at 3 stars on Unilocal. You people are hard to please! We checked in without reservations around 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Upon check-in, there was no one else there but us and we were seated at table next to a window with a beautiful view of Long Beach. We were immediately greeted by our waiter and given water. I ordered my sons’ meal and drinks right away because he was starving. We were also given a plate of delicious bread and butter while perusing the menu. We decided to start with calamari for appetizers. I ordered the scallops and my husband ordered a salad. The calamari was really good! I wish I ordered the chowder but completely forgot to. The scallops were OK. If I visited again, i would definitely order something else. My husband also enjoyed his salad. My little guy enjoyed his chicken strips and fries! Service was outstanding. The prices were a bit too high but hey, when else can you enjoy good food and great service on a historical ship?! Definitely recommend.

When the Queen Mary arrived in Long Beach in 1967, it was decided to partition the Starboard side of the glass enclosed Promenade Deck to make way for the restaurants since the original dining areas did not have a beautiful view of Rainbow Harbor and the Long Beach skyline. In recent years, Chelsea Chowder House & Bar has been given an authentic British chowder house makeover with subway-tiled walls, tables covered with butcher block paper, and decorative tin ceilings. Singapore Sling(origins early 1900’s) is made with Bombay Sapphire Gin, BOLS Cherry Brandy, B&B, Cointreau, pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, and dash of Angostura bitters. This has been one of my favorite cocktails since the early 1990s and it just tasted so much better aboard the Queen Mary. The hurricane-shaped glass gave the feel of sailing away and the tropical flavors of the drink itself puts you in full relaxation mode. Rating: 5⁄5 Fried Calamari is served with lemon aioli and spicy tomato sauce. The calamari was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The batter was unexpectedly peppery. It would be better with a lighter batter. Both dipping sauces work well so experiment to your taste. Rating: 4.8÷5 Miso Glazed Grouper is braised grouper with miso, bok choy, leek, scallion, peppers, shiitake mushrooms, daikon, and carrots. This had a great combination of Asian flavors. The grouper was meaty and succulent. But the bell pepper flavor was a little too strong for the dish. Being a little heavier on the miso would be an improvement as well. Since there is a lot of broth on the bottom, rice or soba noodles would be a nice touch. Rating: 4.3÷5 Blackboard Daily Special was blackened salmon, scallops, and shrimp topped with lemon caper sauce. The salmon was tender, succulent, and just melts in the mouth like butter. The scallops and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The lemon caper sauce was subtle and let the seafood be the star of the dish. The asparagus and potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. Rating: 5⁄5 Flourless Chocolate Cake was light with pudding-like texture. It had a rich chocolate flavor and the ganache coating was velvety and smooth. Rating: 5⁄5

Service was great. Food was ok. Of course we had to try the chowder which was creamy, buttery and broken but still yummy with plenty of clams. Wine list had a good variety. I had the rib eye and ended up ordering it black and blue. Unfortunately it was just an average rare no crisp or golden outside with a weird gravy on it that reminded me of my moms gravy packets… The quality of the meat was good, the fingerling potatoes and asparagus were actually cooked perfectly. The pan roasted chicken was perfect with the same veggies as above and a huge serving. Fish and Chips came out cold but got sent back and were hot, the fish was very hearty, thick and had a decent batter with steak fries. Not the best we’ve ever had… Apparently all the restaurants share the desserts and no one had crème brûlée :[ We did have an amazing view of long beach.

First came in to the restaurant, I thought it’s more like a fast-food restaurant because of its decoration and furniture. BUT We still had an amazing date night during the Valentine’s day. They have special menu for Valentines: 4 dishes includes desert. My favorite is the Entries – crispy scallop(very fresh, surprisingly tasty!) And then we had soups: lobster and clam chowder. The main course is the steaks(they have 4 choices: salmon, steak, chicken, vegetarian, which are very considered for customers). Lastly, the beautiful heart shaped red velvet chocolate mousse cake that we fell in love with it immediately! In additional, the view from outside is amazingly romantic:) I love it! I recommend it’s better to make reservation around 6−7pm because of the beautiful twilight and night views.

Lovely meal. Good service. And there were fireworks! I had the Shrimp Scampi and a French 75 and my boyfriend had the Roast Chicken with a soda. It was all so good. The fettucinni on the scampi was a touch overcooked but the shrimp and the sauce were perfect. The chicken was delicious also and was served with yummy ratatouille and potatoes. They also have tasty bread and butter. Our waiter, Angel, was wonderful and ready with excellent recommendations. The only thing he missed was we asked for a bowl of lemons for our water and he brought a plate with four slices. When we asked for more, he forgot until our meal was almost over. This is a great place for a meal.
