Mac and Cheetos were delicious, the place was unique,(the restaurant was pretty much a house) and the service was kind in all ways. The food was great but the prices seemed a bit much for what they are.

$ 8 Mac n Cheese with Hot Cheetos $ 4 Happy hour sliders(came with 2 sliders size of my first) Atmosphere — One of those hipster burger places, a good place if you want to take cute photos of you laughing with your food against colorful pillows on a wooden wall. Lives up to the hype. MAC N CHEESEWASVERYGOOD. It was $ 8 and split between a friend and I, both of us ended up very full. The noodles themselves were yummy, and the cheese sauce was super creamy. The hot cheetos added a nice little kick to them! Only downside was that the hot cheetos were stale… I mean not too noticeable when its mixed in with cheese. Don’t know if the staleness was from the steam of the mac or bc they were actually stale hmmm… Also, I am terrible with spices but for some reason I didn’t find their hot cheetos particularly spicy. SLIDERSWEREJUSTMEH. It was a good deal in my opinion. It was about the size of my fist, and for $ 2 that’s only a little expensive than McDonalds. However, gotta keep in mind these were happy hour prices. Would not recommend the sliders for regular price… They were just alright. The bun was pretty good, and the meat could’ve been cooked better but it was still tasty! I’d definitely return if I’m ever in the area to try their other foods! However, not worth the drive all the way over if you live far. Also, our waitress was very nice.

Get the Mac n cheeto with avocado. It’s surprisingly good but unfortunately they give you 3 slices… Other than that it’s still pretty good. I feel bad I come in with a group of people and get only two Mac n cheetos it’s okay!

Hot cheetos on top of mac n cheese?! YES. Came here around 9:45am on Saturday for an early breakfast, and street parking was available and easy enough to find. Our group of 4 were seated immediately, and we chose the outdoor seating option. This place looks amazing, like something you would find in Portland or some hipstery area. It’s basically a house, front yard, and open garage converted into a restaurant and outdoor dining area. Even their menus use a wooden binder pad, like who does that? Service was nice, and available seating was plenty. We each ordered 4 plates and 1 bloody mary to share. We ordered the Meaty Man Bloody Mary, Mac n Cheetos, Blue Bayou, Chicken Fried Steak Benedict, and Short Rib Poutine. First thing that came out was the Meaty Man Bloody Mary. I’m not a huge fan of bloody marys, but this one humored me. A piece of bacon, a pulled pork slider, and olives stuffed with slim jims? I’m sold just on the meat alone. The slider was the best part to be honest. Meat was tasty, and buns were soft. Next came out the food. Whoever thought of serving mac n cheetos is a genius. Great presentation though not as appetizing as expected. Are these suppose to be hot cheetos or hot cheeto puffs? Next the Blue Bayou. Nope nothing special here. Chicken Fried Steak Benedict is a must get. Never tried this benedict combination before, but it did not disappoint. Short Rib Poutine looked nice, but where’s the gravy? There was light sauce underneath, but it can’t be poutine fries without the gravy. Really wished the food taste would match better with the looks and presentation, but overall a nice place for breakfast/brunch!

A for Acceptable Came here with 3 friends for a eat our way through LA day. We got: 1) Mac n Cheetos — this was a must have since it’s one of their most popular things. it wasn’t bad. cheetos were kind of stale but provided a kick to the mac n cheese which was in itself pretty good. creamy, not drenched, not too heavy. 2) Pulled pork poutine — fries were horrible, but the pulled pork was tender. would not get this again 3) The Blue Bayou Omelette — this was sad, i could’ve made this at home, no presentation event to compensate for the mediocre taste 4) Chicken fried steak benedict — if i were to compare this to Brenda’s in SF, it wouldn’t stand a chance. 5) Meaty Bloody Mary — what can I say, the slider on top of this bloody tomato drink was the best tasting item Probably wouldn’t come back as there are plenty of other brunch places to try out. This place did not win my heart but if you’re looking for something different to try out, this would be a nice place.

Decided to have a little get together here, and they were able to accommodate my party of 13 people on a Sunday night! But, they made us wait outside until almost all of our party was there. We were put in a tiny side room, but somehow we managed to fit perfectly. Our server did a pretty good job of taking care of our table all by herself. Parking: Small lot behind the restaurant. When that fills up, you have to park on one of the residential streets. Food: I ordered the Sampler, so that I could try a little bit of everything: Original Mac’ n Flaming Hot Cheetos, Fried Green Tomato Caprese, Devilish Eggs, and Bacon Wrapped, Crab Stuffed Jalapeño. — Man’ n Cheetos — Macaroni pasta with cheddar, mozzarella, and jack cheese. Topped with crumbled Flaming Hot Cheetos, and green onions. Maybe I overhyped it for myself since a couple of people kept telling me how amazing it is, but I honestly didn’t think it was all that great… Cheese was rich and creamy, but I couldn’t help but feel something was missing… maybe I’ll try adding some toppings next time. — Fried Green Tomato(FGT) Caprese — Fried green tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil, dusted with black pepper and drizzled with balsamic reduction. — Devilish Eggs — Cayenne pepper and red pepper coulis, topped with fire roasted corn poblano relish and green onions. The corn relish was a nice addition to deviled eggs! — Crab Stuffed Jalapenos — These literally made me cry. They were SO spicy! These jalapenos are stuffed with crab and cream cheese and wrapped with candied cayenne bacon. Then they’re topped with a fire-roasted corn poblano relish, peach-jalapeño jam, and green onions. Why did I not read this description BEFORE taking a huge bite?! But hey, if you like super spicy, then these are definitely for you! I also got a bowl of corn chowder, which was pretty good… I think. By the time I actually ate most of the soup, my tongue was already numb. I had a bite of the Jambalaya, and unfortunately, that was pretty spicy, too! Cajun style rice with simmered bell peppers, pasilla peppers, red onions, tomatoes, chicken, Andouille sausage, and shrimp. Pretty intense flavors soaked up by the rice with a few pieces of shrimp.

Holy hell this place was absolutely great! Went here with a friend for brunch, made reservations before hand which I strong and highly recommend you do so, as the wait can be horrendous at time so it pays to be patient if you don’t have reservations. First of let me start by saying the staff here was extremely helpful with suggestions and recommendations and where extremely knowledgable about their menu! Our first round to hit on the menu was the apps. We ordered the sampler which is devilish eggs, hot chetto Mac and cheese, bacon wrapped crab stuffed jalapeño, and fried green tomato caprese and man everything was made absolutely great we also ordered the short rib poutine. And the short ribs was just great highly recommend with a sunny side up egg! And the apps came out pretty quick to say the least. Drinks of choice where old fashioned top shelf which was made perfectly one of thee best I have had, and a bloody marry with a pull pork slider as a garnish which was pretty gnarly but quite good lol. We had mint juleps that where adorable to the eye but man them little cute shits where super super strong, shout out to the bar tender lol. Now our main courses where memorable ones well mine was anyway lol. I decided to go with the BBQ St. Louis style pork ribs and shit was I not disappointed these things where seriously melt in your mouth fall of the bone greatness! I will honestly come back and no doubt in my mind will I get these again!!! I strongly recommend it and do recommend anyone in the the area to stop by you will not be disappointed!

Had a great Saturday dinner with drinks and friends! Vanessa was our waitress — very kind and fun personality. Yano, the general manager even came out to check on all of the tables and made pleasant conversation! The food was delicious. The veggie burger was a little messy to eat, but nothing a fork and knife couldn’t fix. The Mac n’ Cheetos is a must try! The sampler was the best way to go for appetizers since it was all the house specialties in one. The hard lemonade was strong and delicious with fruit at the bottom. Overall a great atmosphere, friendly staff and cool concept for a restaurant. Plan on going back soon to try out the brunch!

Move over Michelin Guide, Unilocal is taking over with not one, not two, but FIVE stars! That’s right, and this Unilocaler awards The Attic with a «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» rating. I visited The Attic when they first opened a few times, and my most recent visit was to experience their crowd-pleasing brunch. Supposedly so good, that they received the Best Brunch in Long Beach for 2015 by the Long Beach Post. We arrived with a big group and were seated by a friendly hostess in the patio. You may already know but in case ya didn’t, this restaurant is built within a historic Craftsman house with plenty character. The relaxed atmosphere gives you an ‘at home’ experience. Our fabulous server, Neil, definitely sealed that with his charm and attentive service. He makes you feel like he’s entertaining you at his place. Even while on his break, he came out to chit-chat with us a bit and keep the ‘party section’ alive! He achieved something pretty special – he made us feel like regulars. We heart Neil. Though I didn’t have the bloody mary, I did take a sippy sip and would order it next time! Their BMs are build-your-own edible sculptures that reach beyond the rim, if you’re into all-in-one eat while ya drink drinks. I had something with gin and champagne, that was refreshingly light and dangerously thirst-inducing. Now onto the food! Rather than order a brunch item, I decided to try their Unilocal-famous Mac and Cheetos. I am sparing you from a picture because there are plenty of photos with *bow chicka wow wow* angles of this guilt-inspiring dish. That was probably the best mac and cheese experience I’ve had in a long time! To describe, it was a melty cheddar, mozza, and jack mac that erupted with crumbly volcanic Cheetos. I didn’t like Flaming Hot Cheetos, until now. Someone in my group ordered Shrimp and Grits, good gawd that was delicious too! I sampled a savory spoonful and was blown away. I ALMOST cried. I can’t wait to return and order that next time. So congratulations, The Attic! You’ve certainly earned your 5 stars and recognition for Best Brunch in Long Beach. And Neil, is he available for parties? :-)

Fun place! The space is cute and has a nice home feel. Came here for cocktails and dinner. Food was great. Service is great. A nice fire place in the lounge area was available for drinks before heading to our table. Cheetos Mac and cheese was fun. Deviled eggs tasty. Wedge salad was very good. Pot pie was a little different than a traditional pot pie but very good. Ribs were okay. The 2 dessert we tried were both 5 star desserts: carrot cake(layered in a cute little mason jar) and the banana bread pudding was comforting! Will be back!

I came here on Veterans Day as they had a deal where Veterans receive a free meal, so my fiancé chose to dine here on that day for lunch. We waited a long time to get seated inside, probably almost an hour. This is probably because this place is small. They essentially turned a house into a restaurant, but we soon learned that it was worth the wait. Plus, the hostess was really nice and brought us water while we waited for our table. We also were able to sit down on a couch they had outside while we waited, so the time passed by pretty quickly. Because we waited so long, our waitress said she would be bringing out an order of mac and cheetos for free, which was really nice of her. The dish itself was everything I had imagined. It was a huge pile of macaroni, cheese sauce, and bacon all piled into a ramekin and topped with a ridiculous amount of hot cheetos. To say it was messy would be an understatement, but it was so good! I would order this again. I was especially impressed by the quality of cheese and bacon they used in the dish. It really elevated it into something upscale(Yes, apparently something upscale can have a hot cheeto crust). As I was browsing the menu for an entrée I wanted to order, I realized they have make your own bloody mary’s!!! I ended up making one with grey goose, hot sauce, house bloody mary mix, a salted rim, bacon, and blue cheese stuffed olives. It was insaaaaaaane. I browsed the menu and was stuck between the fried green tomato benedict(!!!) and the my boy blue burger. I ended up ordering the burger. It is not your traditional burger by any means, as it was a half pound bison burger which was seasoned with cajun spices. It came with with point reyes blue cheese, fried shallots, bourbon BBQ sauce, and candied cayenne bacon on onion brioche bun. It was really, really, really good. Plus, it was huge. I only ended up eating half of it. The quality of the bacon and blue cheese were top notch and worth the $ 16 price tag. The fried shallots were another interesting addition that you don’t typically see on a burger. The fries that came with the burger were also very well seasoned with herbs. They didn’t even need ranch dressing. My fiancé ordered the buttermilk fried chicken, but because it was lunch time, they mashed potatoes weren’t prepared yet, so he got fries instead. He really enjoyed his food, plus, the manager came out and thanked him for his service. Yes, there was a long wait, but it was worth it. I definitely want to come back for breakfast, as well as for dinner.

There was no wait when my sister and I got there, which was around 6PM, but it is more known for its brunch. We got the Sampler, which includes the renowned Mac N’ Cheetos, Devilish Eggs, Fried Green Tomatoes, and a Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño. The Mac N’ Cheetos were good, but not crazy awesome. They’re just hot Cheetos crumbled on top of mac and cheese. Devilish eggs were delicious, fried green tomatoes were surprisingly good and sweet. The jalapeño was VERY sweet, a little spicy. My sister had the Chicken Fried Steak, which she says was good, mashed potatoes were divine, but the braised greens were really salty. I had The Reuben, which was not too incredibly salty. Cajun French Fries are thick-cut, but are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The food came out very fast, and the service was as warm as to how homey The Attic is. The food is pricey, but if you’re ever in Long Beach, definitely pay this place a visit. There’s a private parking lot in the back.

Dining here is like walking into a family friend’s household for a sit-down meal at the table. The environment is so relaxed and home-like that it’s easy to get comfortable here. More than likely, especially on a weekend, there will be a wait. However, their food is so good! For appetizers, I have tried their Cajun fries, Fried Green Tomatoes, and the amazing Mac and Cheetos!!! Cajun fries and the Fried Green Tomatoes are solid. I highly recommend their Mac and Cheetos. It’s such a simple dish, but so delicious. Jazz that fun dish up with toppings such as jalapeños, mushrooms, onions, avocado, etc. I ordered their Portobellington, which was so-so. I had their trio sampler desserts once about 2 years ago and loved it! I don’t see that on their menu anymore, so I don’t know if they still do that.

I loved the atmosphere here! It’s like a real house converted into a restaurant, but still retains that warm, home– like feel to it while you eat your meal. The service was a huge plus– attentive, kind, and quick. It was packed when we got there around 1:00pm, and we were seated within the 30 minutes predicted. The eggs benedict were lightly flavored, which balanced with the sausages and herb potatoes. It was overall OK for eggs benedict. Being an egg-lover though, I still thoroughly enjoyed my egg dish. Now, the chicken pot pie was AMAZING. Perfectly fluffy puff top, delicious creamy soup, and overall a pleasing taste. It’s hard to describe. Just try it yourself. I personally prefer smaller potato chunks in the soup because I kept burning myself biting into the big chunks, but that doesn’t take away from the taste. Lastly, even though I was full from my meal, I wanted dessert. The strawberry shortcake on the menu caught my eye, and it hit the spot to wrap up a great meal. I will be back!

* get the buttermilk fried chicken! so goodddd today was martin luther king’s day so there was a little wait. the hostess1 said about 20 minutes. so she took my friends name down and her number to text when the table is ready. we sat on the chairs on the left of the hostess stand waiting to be called. my friend saw a few tables that signed up after us and was seated before us so she came to check if our table is ready yet. a new hostess2 was there at the time while the one that took our name down was seating someone. she said that she didn’t even see our names on the list! we were pretty irked about that. she was like hold on let me ask the hostess1 that wrote your name down, maybe she put it in another list. turns out that hostess1 didn’t even put our names down at all!!! hostess2 then said sorry well get u to a table right away. we stood up and hostess1 smiled and said oh sorry and led us to our table. i was REALLYANNOYED about that because she didn’t say it like she meant it, and she didn’t even offer us a comped appetizer or anything. we waited for almost ANHOUR! so i was already not in the best mood when sitting down. sigh. but i wasn’t going to take it out on the server or anything. we asked the server for the fish of the day, and he said something about this fish with squid ink linguini and stuff on it, so we were like yes! we’ll try that. the server then comes back and said sorry that fish of the day is out. we now have some type of crab with something something. lol again, another disappointment. we really wanted to try the fish with the squid ink pasta. so we got the FGT benedict. this one was okay. good but not great. i love how the eggs were done. the andouille sausage was okay, it was cut into small pieces. i thought the fried green tomato was interesting. we also got the buttermilk fried chicken. the chicken was so tender and juicy! i really liked it. the fries was also good. the only thing i didn’t like about this was the coleslaw, it tasted weird. i guess the server could tell we were disappointed about the fish of the day so when we ordered a virgin bloody mary, he gave it to us on the house, which was nice. that’s what you’re supposed to do when you mess up at something. the hostess messed up and she didn’t even seem like she felt bad. we waited for a long time! she was the shorter one of the 2.

The Attic is worth the hype. I came for my birthday brunch with my dad and there was a 30-minute wait tat 11:00 a.m. on a Saturday. It was worth it. We tried a lot: Bloody Marys, Mac N’ Cheetos, Fried shrimp sandwich with Cajun fries, spinach salad and shrimp pasta. Everything tasted soo good. At the end they brought me banana bread pudding for my birthday, it was heaven on a spoon.

Atmosphere: There is parking in the back so thats really nice because most places surrounding The Attic seem to rely on street parking. Theres a really nice outside section and the inside resembles a home which has a nice comforting feel to it. Service: The waitress was really kind and even explained our sampler’s ingredients to us when she served it. We never had to ask for refills on our water and we were checked up on frequently. Service was amazing! Food: The food. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? My girlfriend and I ordered the Sampler, country fried steak, and the poutin. We had read previous Unilocal reviews and just ordered what we thought sounded best. Let me start by saying that everything on the sampler was amazing. The caprese was amazing with the contrast of the balsalmic reduction, the stuffed jalepeno’s heat was just right, the hyped mac and cheese lived up to the hype, and the deviled eggs were savory and packed with flavor. The country fried steak was freshly fried and the meat was dark and moist. The potatoes were a little under done, but the collard greens were blanched nicely. The poutin’s pot roast was a little more on the done side and the french fries were not anything to die for. The gravy had a nice rustic taste to it but just did not deliver. For the price we paid I expected a little more wow from the entrees. The sampler was amazing and show cased what the kitchen is able to dish out, but our choice of entrees left our palettes feeling unsatisfied as the dishes were a little linear. Maybe if the price was lower and we didn’t expect as much then I would give the restaurant 4 or 5 stars. But for the price we expected better tasting entrees. Hats off to the service and atmosphere though; we might come back for the appetizers and beers!

2.5 stars, rounded down. Known for their Southern-inspired American fare, The Attic serves comfort food that’s praised for being rich and satisfying, but with a twist. This casual hip spot is a local favorite for brunch among the locals. I’ve heard a lot about their mac & cheese and mouth-watering fried chicken, so I was super stoked when my sis suggested this place for dinner. THEMEATYMANBLOODYMARY($ 12): Bacon-infused vodka, house bloody mary mix, jalapeño tobasco makes one helluva delicious combo! It’s then garnished with some bacon strips, cornichons, olives and a magnificient braised short rib slider! Bloody delicious and bloody damn strong, just the way I like it. — For $ 3 more, I added an additional braised short rib slider into the mix. — You get a check-off sheet so you can build your own sliders with whatever fixin’s your lush heart desires. — For well spirits, it’s $ 6. Premium/call spirits is an additional $ 3 charge. SHORTRIBPOUTINE($ 12): Slow-braised short ribs, mozzarella cheese curds and caramelized onions topped off a handful of thick-cut fries. — Flavorless. The short ribs in my slider had more flavor thanks to the bbq sauce. — The«curds» seemed more like melted mozzarella. And because it wasn’t evenly distributed, we ended up with a solid melted blob of hard cheese. — The red wine demi-glacé was only present on the beef, the sad fries got none of that saucy action. Whenever I see«poutine» on the menu, I’m expecting my order to come covered in semi-melted cheese curds and a thick gravy. The demi-glacé could’ve been thicker and at least poured over the fries as well. MAC’N CHEETOS($ 8): A rich cheese sauce(jack cheese, cheddar and mozzarella) paired with perfectly-cooked pasta was sinfully good enough, but they tried to take it to another level by adding crushed Flamin’ Hot Cheetos over the whole bowl of bubbly goodness. — I said«tried»…yeah none of us liked it. I prefer a heaping sprinkling of bacon our seasoned bread crumbs over the vinegary cheetos. Over-hyped. *** You can add more toppings and naughty bits to this for additional $ 1 – 3 bucks. We should’ve went this route, but thought we’d order it as is to see what everyone was having orgasms about *** CAESARSALAD($ 6 half salad, $ 10 full salad): Hearts of romaine tossed with with a classic garlicky Caesar dressing. Fried anchovies and croutons adds an tasty extra dimension to the fresh crisp romaine. — You can also add your choice of crab cake($ 8), organic chicken breast($ 8) or shrimp($ 10). — The bready crab cake was soft and fell apart easily, but otherwise a decent salad. VEGGIERISOTTO(cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms cooked in a parmesan and herbed tomato sauce, $ 14): — Added an egg for $ 1. — Salty. Everything was over-salted and overcooked. — Risotto is supposed to be rich and silky, with a consistency of a soupy rice porridge. It should flow smoothly when you tilt your plate. Our blob of overcooked rice was so tacky that it didn’t even move when jiggled. BUTTERMILKFRIEDCHICKEN served with house slaw and yukon mashed potatoes($ 17): ***The most disappointing dish of the night*** — The dish took 30 mins to arrive. By then, everyone else at my table were close to finishing their entrees. — 2 out of 3 pieces of(the darker drumstick and breast pictured on the right side of the plate) were sour and rancid. The meat itself was pinkish in color and smelled spoiled. The one golden-looking one on the left of the plate tasted fine, but by then I had already lost my appetite. Sorry, Attic… Although your Bloody Mary was excellent, I don’t think I’ll be back for another round. That spoiled chicken isn’t worth another round of hershey squirts.

My friends and I came here on a Saturday night around 930 pm or so and the wait was about 20 minutes, not bad! The restaurant looks like a cozy home. It’s literally a house. When we were seated it felt like I was waiting for Thanksgiving dinner. We started off with the mac n’ cheese topped with hot Cheetos plus mushrooms. I was extra excited about this. My friend said we could make this at home, but even he thought it was spectacular! We also shared the poutine. I love how the fries are thick and the meat was surprisingly tender. However, I wouldn’t order this again. It was just ok. For my main dish, I ordered the vegetarian risotto which had Greek yogurt. Now, I don’t like Greek yogurt, but after mixing it in, there was a nice tangy sourness to it. This dish was spicy. Totally not expecting that so you’ve been warned! My friends had the shrimp scampi, fried chicken, and I believe a chef’s choice pasta? I could be completely off with these dishes so please ignore me if I am. But I do remember liking the shrimp scampi. The sauce was what made it special for me. Their portions are pretty huge. The four of us were already getting full off sharing the Mac n’ cheese. All of us had leftovers. I didn’t get our waitress’s name, but she was very nice and accommodating. I think it was the manager who was walking around and he seemed very cheery and friendly! I would come back purely for the Mac n’ cheese with hot Cheetos!!!

I wanted to try the Hot Cheetos Mac n Cheese after seeing so many posts about it over the years but Long Beach is a bit out of the way for me. Finally got the chance to come here after a trip to the museum. We both weren’t that hungry so we decided to get a sampler plate to share(which includes a small Hot Cheetos Mac n Cheese too) and we both got a Meaty Man Bloody Mary. Everything on the sampler plate was pretty good but I wasn’t too wowed by anything. This includes the famous Hot Cheetos Mac n Cheese. I like mac n cheese and basically lived off hot cheetos in high school. but it is what it sounds. The Meaty Man Bloody Mary though. perhaps THEBESTBLOODYMARYEVERINMYOPINION! The pulled pork sandwich, the bacon, the pickle, the bloody mary itself. Yummm. it was all worth my slight allergy to vodka haha.
