I’ve been wanting to try The Social List for quite some time now and today the opportunity finally presented itself. Located in the artsy part of 4th st. in Long Beach. This hipster eatery offers up some delightfully different menu choices. Depending on when you go and what’s in season, there might be something totally different on the menu. To me that shows that serving fresh seasonal food is very important to this establishment… and I like that! We ordered the brussel sprouts which were very good. The prosouto with butter but squash and goat cheese and the Napoleon burger. It was topped with pulled tri-tip.Oh Snap! Excellente! Brian and Clayton both provided us with service that was exceptional. The experience is so much better when you are served properly. Thanks guys. Can’t wait be be back.

First time here & now I’m hooked! The placed smelled great when we walked in, there weren’t any tables available so we sat at the bar, which is very high but not uncomfortable. The service was outstanding, the bartender made suggestions for wine & food & he did not disappoint. I had the LBC, which is a portobello mushroom sandwich that was SO good, accompanied by their garlic fries that were also extremely tasty. My friend got the flat iron steak which was delicious & perfectly cooked. But the BEST suggestion of the night, was the Liquid Gold dessert! Omg, butterscotch pudding with a salted caramel that was to die for. Perfect amount of salty, sweet, cold & creamy. Seriously want to go back again tonight.

So this was a first on fourth st. Was invited by a peer to join them for dinner, and I was blown away with this little restaurant on the corner. At first glance the restaurant is very blann, but once inside it’s the perfect ingredients of comfort and casual. The art décor is perfect and the ambiance sets any mood for your delight, and expect ro be in for a treat. To my surprise we were greeted by Bryan, a server that I have had the pleasure of meeting before at another establishment. Bryan took great care of us, like always he is on his A game: he is a master at his craft. We all got an appetizer, Brussel sprouts are amazing, deviled eggs were also amazing… our entrees were even better. Overall this was a great experience and a must stop by when your in the area.

Went here on a Monday for their Happy Hour. YES!!! 50% off drink and apps. You can’t beat that! Mac and cheese and the brussel sprouts were to die for. This is a great place and is now our Monday hang-out in Long Beach(our only day off together)

Food– I got the mama meatballs and had very high hopes for it. The first bite I took from it, I was reminded of a vietnamese dish I have had when I was a kid called xiu mai, so I was not impressed because at an vietnamese shop, I could get it for maybe a third of the price with more flavor and moisture to it. The deviled eggs were okay, maybe a little salty. The croquettes tasted like pâté so you would be able to get from a lee’s sandwiches for also a third or a quarter of the price. The fried potato cubes with garlic aioli and hot sauce was very good! That was probably the best thing I ate there. Service– Our server was amazing. We came on a Thursday around happy hour. He was very funny and friendly. Got our orders quick, knew what to recommend to us. Overall, he was an amazing server. Our food came out pretty quick and service wise, everything was great. My boyfriend absolutely loved everything we had tried, however everything just tasted like similar dishes I have had that could get for a much cheaper price. Maybe we’ll come back to try other dishes but this will be my only time coming here.

This place is awesome! From the cool vibe to the service, food, wine and to top it all off a 2man blues band playing in the back of their pick up truck for us! What a great foodie experience

Overall a great place! I’ve never had something I didn’t like. My favorite is the kale goddess salad with salmon. Would be nice if there were 3x kale bc it seems to have been drastically reduced since it was first put on the menu(not that expensive, guys). The goddess dressing was left out of my to-go order so I used a lemon from my backyard. Salmon is always on point. Love the staff!

I have reviewed this place before, having visited a few times previously… This time I ordered for delivery via eat24 and the experience was less than ideal HOWEVER, when I contacted them about my concerns their response went way above and beyond what I would have expected. These guys know their business and care about their customers. I will definitely be back.

Diana who helpeed us with selecting a good glass of wine was very attentive thebwhole evening. We are definitely comr back to rtf his neighborhood place!

A-OK. There wasn’t anything really memorable about The Social List. Having lived in Spain I was excited for the patatas bravas, but they didn’t live up. Also the oysters were very small. It’s a bit overpriced for what you get.

Where to start with this amazing gem in the LBC. Great staff, amazing food, seasonal changing menu, fresh ingredients, amazing brews on tap and BONUS this placed is owned by the same owners as Lola’s so you know its going to be amazing. Came in last night for a tap takeover that was happening and ended up staying for a few hours as the scene is my kind of chill-fridaynight in the LBC type of place. Here is what I had: TSL Deviled Eggs — a trio of hard boiled eggs halved and stuffed with a perfect blend and toped with paprika and jalapeño bacon. Best yolk mix of a deviled egg I have ever had and that jalapeño bacon OMG. I will note that this was a special of the night so not sure how often it is offered. Sweet Pea & Mint Toast — peas, fresh mint, mascarpone, hard toast. So good we ordered 2. I know it sounds simple but I have dreams of this toast, I think it is the simple ingredients that make it so good and well you kind of get a nostalgic feeling when eating peas. I mean how can you resist toast? Butternut Squash & Onion Jam Toast — Roasted butternut squash, maple caramelized onions, red pepper on goat cheese smeared toast. AMAZING! This is one of the seasonal toast and it does not disappoint. The creamy goat with the maple onions and unexpected texture of the roasted squash is a perfect trifecta in your mouth. Also pairs excellently with a good chardonnay(which they have plenty of here). Once you come to this place you will find yourself becoming a local. Though I prefer to order a few of the share plates and call it a day the entrees are quite tasty as well. But THETOAST people don’t forget the TOAST!

I have to admit that even though I am a Long Beach native, I don’t visit Long Beach restaurants as much as I should! Since my boyfriend’s mom was in town and have never visited Long Beach, I thought it was time to venture out to my home turf. Five stars completely because of the spectacular service we received when we wined and dined here. The bartenders and servers were great, gave awesome suggestions, and made us feel very welcomed. Reservations are made for a minimum of four people, but the person over the phone said that she would put our group of 3 down just in case it was busy. Awesome! Lucky us, it wasn’t that busy on a Friday evening around 8:30PM. We were seated at the bar — beware, the bar top is TALL and the food is RIGHTNEXTTOYOURFACE, which makes dining a little bit interesting. Definitely not complaining, just letting my fellow diners know! We got: Escargot, bratwurst with patatas bravas, and spicy artichoke hearts. All of these were great to share and was enough for the three of us to nibble on. My favorite of the dishes being the artichoke hearts with the garlic aoli and sriracha, would definitely recommend! The Escargot in a garlic butter sauce was also very reminiscent of stuffed mushrooms. If you have never tried escargot before, this would be a great start. The wine glasses here are huge and the pours are heavy. I enjoyed the selection of beers as well, got the seasonal pumpkin sour beer and Belching Beavers Milk Stout — delicious. Would definitely recommend coming here for a bite to eat before going out bar hopping on fourth street.

Looking for something to eat that wasn’t too crowded this Labor Day weekend so we decided to stop by for some quick tapas. We did a quick once over of the menu and told our waitress what we thought looked good. We asked her if there was anything we should«definitely try» at this place and she said«you guys look like you did fine» …ok Got some 805s too cool off until our food came out. I got a pork and artichoke brat and damn that was good! The boy got a stuffed salmon that was delish as well. We ordered the croquettes which were just ok. Unfortunately I burned the roof of my mouth off one(I’m not a patient woman) so maybe my review of that dish is one sided. Prob would go with a different fish next time. To finish off the meal we got some liquid gold, aka butterscotch pudding. This was just ok as well. Pudding was great, little too much whip cream, but again that’s just my preference. The overall experience wasn’t bad. I will say it was annoying to have flys all around our table to shoo away the entire time. The doors were open so they kept coming in. Social List, until we meet again comrade.

I had lunch with a friend here when exploring«retro row.» Glad we stopped in! They have a very friendly staff and great service and i loved their food! We orders the artichoke appetizer and although i think the actual product was great, it was really small for the price. They totally make up for it with the entrees though! We had the pork belly brussel sprouts and omg it was amazing. The brussel sprouts had the perfect amount of char and added a smoky taste and the pork belly literally crumbled at the touch of your fork. They also have some cherries and cashews in it to break up the saltiness. The other item we had was the fig & pear pork sausage with caramelized onions and sweet peppers. My gripe about this was that it was served on a piece of bakery paper and everything was wet so it ripped the paper and made it super messy. Also the bun kind of fell apart so i ate it with a fork and knife. The components were individually really good but i dont think that the cherry preserves were necessary. It masked a lot of the fig and pear flavors. We also had the patatas bravas on the side and they were delicious! Love the chipotle sauce. Id want to go back for that pork belly dish alone!

I rather love The Social List and not just because I really am a socialist :-) This is a real foodie’s gastropub, and come thirsty. They have an extensive wine list and rotating local beers on tap. I’ve been here twice and both times enjoyed a lovely meal and good wine. My most recent meal included: coquetas de jamon– divine! I highly recommend this dish. Mama’s Meatballs– seriously the best meatballs ever. This was my favorite dish of the night. I didn’t get a photograph because we ate them too fast. oops. Brussels sprouts– these were ok. Papitas Bravas– imagine some really yummy breakfast potatoes or home fries. That’s these. Banana’s Foster breadpudding. This is a seasonal dessert and absolutely delightful. Wine– not sure, but it was a really luscious cab. These dishes were tapas, meant to be shared, but they also have some really yummy looking entrees and gourmet burgers for those of you who wont share :-) Located in super cool Belmont Heights in Long Beach, this is a great spot to meet a friend or a date for a drink or a meal. They have a cool little patio and open air bar stools that face out to the street. It has an intimate feel to it, or that’s the wine talking, either way, its sexy. :-) The Art Theater is right next door, so plan your date accordingly. Service is excellent too. Come through. And when you do, get dessert! «Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.» ― Ruth Reichl Cheers! xo

3.5 stars I really like the flourishing food scene in Long Beach. It’s up and coming, experimental, and on a whole, introducing a whole lot of good food to people who have roots here and at the same time, appeasing Long Beach transplants. The Social List is located in the quaint neighborhood on Fourth Street. The street is lined with vintage stores and an assortment walk in friendly stores. The restaurant capitalizes on the temperament Long Beach weather and offers a duel indoor and outdoor seating arrangement. It’s nice. My friend and I ordered the following dishes: –escargots de bourgogne: Burgandy snails baked in garlic-herb butter and topped with flaky puff pastry. The first bite was great, because hey, who can turn down escargot? But every bite there after was meh. The flavoring, the chewiness of the snails, and the overall dish was really just okay. It wasn’t remarkable in any way. We also shared a bratwurst sausage and the ever famous Better Than Your Mama’s Meatballs– which are handmade pork and veal meatballs served with bread. These dishes were not memorable in any way, but overall, pretty good. I like what restaurants like the Social List are doing. They’re all introducing new dining fare to Long Beach residents at a very sedated pace. They pair familiar dishes with a slight twist on flavors. It allows people to venture just a little bit outside of their comfort zone, and at the end of the day, I think that’s great. Long Beach is doing a good job of introducing its residents to new flavors and dining options. Kudos to that.
