Wardlow Blue Line Station

The Wardlow Blue Line station is just a few miles away from Downtown Long Beach. At this stop, you’ll be able to find a few places where to eat.
Being that this station is located right near a residential area, the Wardlow station has a very small parking lot that will full up very quickly. If you’re lucky, you can get street parking. Just be sure to read the signs that are up. There is always a heavy presence of police here, which is always a good thing. Not too far away, you’ll find Hole Mole, as well as a few other spots to grab a bite at. The 405 freeway runs nearby here as well.
This is one of the cleaner metro stations. I have only gotten off here once, only because I thought it was the Willow Blue Line Station. Other than that, be sure to TAP before boarding!!!

I have used this station over the years. They use to use both parking lots but it looks like they are using the smaller one as a pay-​to-​park parking lot. They also rent out bike storage containers. I am hoping that one of the improvements for this station would be to expand the public parking lot as well as including the bike storage containers. It can be a pretty good station when patrolled. When it is not, it tends to be overrun by the homeless. Just make sure you know your surroundings as well.

The Metro Blue Line station was very convenient for me when I was attending Long Beach Poly High. Especially since my neighborhood, Wrigleys, was right next to the metro station.
I recently used the metro again to attend the Animé Convention in Los Angeles, but it was my first time taking it there! From Wrigley to Pico station, It was a good experience for me since I’ve always wanted to take the metro to LA and see more of LA County, and I finally got a chance to do that this year.
However, the ride back was not as pleasant. There was a group of teens that boarded whom made me feel uncomfortable. They gave off a bad vibe because they were making comments about people at the other end of the metro. They even called me Hot Cheeto boy (I was eating hot cheetos at the time). There was also another man who was glaring at them and obviously felt the same way I did. I guess $ 2.50 gets you more than just public transportation.

Great to take to downtown, or USC for the football games on weekends. Used it a few times, both in the day and evening (left car until around 9ish). parking is hard to get in lot, but plenty of street parking. I hear police drive by a lot which makes me feel a bit better of leaving my car there.

This is one of the better blue line trains. I never have any problem at this station and if you drive, there’s also plenty of parking. It is Long Beach, but do not let that scare you, the area itself is not too bad.
I once was walking off of the platform while 3 girls were singing «D2B» by Problem. (If you know what song that is, then you know how hard i was laughing! lol) Awesome.

Blue Line is pretty ghetto and will break down often. Make sure you’re on metro twitter alerts to find out when you should board (and avoid) going on the train.
Cheapest way to the OC from DTLA easily. HOW CAN YOU BEAT $ 1.50.

Well lit station and my stop on my home. Parking is good with 2 lots and plenty on the street.

Great spot to take the Blue Line Train since there is parking available to park your vehicle nearby.
Also, there’s plenty of idiots committing acts of «road rage» always in this area. I’ve seen it when I’m driving in this area.
My gf caught one fat ugly one today, but the license plate is not visible on the Ford Flex.
But she has a nice shot of him giving her the finger and yelling out «bitch». Idiot was driving recklessly in this area before my gf ran across as recited the incident to me.
I was not there to call 911 and take better pics of the vehicle like I normally do.
Wow, «his mom must be one too» since he yells out «bitch» like it’s part of his everyday vocabulary.
My gf kept her composure and continue to take pics and avoid being in a traffic accident with this idiot. He kept braking and stopping and braking on purpose.
I’m proud of my gf for staying composed. She had a couple of pepper spray and mace in the vehicle to use if the idiot got out of his vehicle and escalated this incident.
She always comes prepare.

Since this station is located in an area surrounded by hospitals and busy streets, there’s rarely any incidences involving shady dealings of any sort. I’m willing to drive a few miles to a SAFE station so I don’t get ogled or harassed by some of the crazies. (Yes, you’re still on the Blue Line –_​-​)
The trains are not crowded at this station, and helps you secure a nice spot so nobody steals your electronics en route to LA.

very clean station

I take the train daily into downtown and this is my home stop. I love it because my commute time is my own. The Wardlow stop is never packed and early enough on the train line that you can ALWAYS find a seat. I have the sure fire way…
Here it is:
If you are heading north into downtown during rush hour note that every other train starts at the Willow Station one stop earlier down the line. This means that every other train is packed and the next is relatively empty, having just started its route. So, if you have an extra 5 minutes and a packed train happens to pull in, just wait for the next one. And, if you are picky about your seat, I also have a solution… Simply take the south train going to Willow, one stop the opposite direction, because it quickly turns around and heads towards LA!!!

Convenient location for me. It’s in a nice neighborhood. My mom has always parked her car nearby and doesn’t worry about if her tires have been slashed. The station is relatively clean and doesn’t have too many bums nearby. There is good amount of street parking but it just a matter of distance. It is very hard to find a parking spot within the station parking lot unless you get there super early. Because the station is so close to be it makes public transportation less annoying. It also saves me gas money and thus I’m more likely to make a trip to LA.

As far as metro stops go this is a good one. You may be interested to know this is the stop you would take if you want to see Ferris Buellers house, the American Pie nieghborhood as well I believe Donnie Darko’s house and neighborhood. To take a stroll through that neighborhood a bike would be helpful unless you are a fanatical walker.
To see those houses just walk off the platform, make a left on Wordlow, your second, and then your first left on Country Club drive and keep walking to the end about a mile (lots of lefts). You’ll start to see the houses once you pass a park.
For those in need the park has bathroom facilities, tennis courts, and lots of green space. If you’re lucky maybe even get on on some barbaque action.
Okay, back to the stop. It’s clean, small, and I’ve always felt safe there.

This is definitely the nicest, cleanest Metro station in Long Beach. But the parking spaces fill up fast, and half the time the pay phone doesn’t work.

Even though the Wardlow station is small, i’ve always found a parking spot along the street. I love taking the Metro to work. It beats driving and i am able to catch up on my reading. It’s your tax dollars at work so take advantage of the Metro, people!

The most convenient of all the Long Beach area Blue Line stations to get to – just right off the 405, exit Long Beach Blvd, if you’re coming in from OC like I am.
The small-​ish parking lot tends to fill up by about 6:20a — though I’ve found spots there as late as 6:45a on a Friday (and by «found», I mean walking past empty space in the lots on the way to the station after having parked on Pacific Ave.)
Street parking in itself isn’t too much of a hassle — and the walk to/​from your car may actually be shorter than if you had parked in the structure at Willow. Sure, it’s not covered parking, but — hey.
As far as the ticket vending machines — they’re usually up and working (only once were they all down). And they consistently take my credit card. Which is saying a lot considering my past experiences with TVMs all along the Metro system –
