Excellent and inexpensive Mexican food. There is also a lot of interesting stuff in the market in the front of the restaurant(like pastries, luchadore masks, ponchos, Mexican sodas, and bullwhips)

If you’re having problems believing in God try the flan. Enchiladas with molle sauce was absolutely incredible. Homemade tortilla chips with fresh salsa. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in NJ.

Very far from the main boardwalk and a very shady place. Food is authentic but not worth the wait unless all the places on earth are shutdown for some reason

This is my favorite authentic Mexican Restaurant. I enjoy the Burrito al Carbone but I have never had a bad meal there. The people are really nice, service is good. Atmosphere is rustic but you’ll leave with a full belly and a smile on your face. It helps if you speak spanish.

If you’re looking for an authentic mexican restaurant… look no further. They are located in the back of a small grocery/bodega. The inside of the restaurant was nicely decorated and very clean. You can see the cooks preparing everything fresh and from scratch. This was by far the best Mexican food I’ve had in NJ. The quality and freshness is nothing short of amazing! We ordered El Pastor tacos, chorizo tacos and shrimp quesidillas. I can’t decide what I liked better. This place is a hidden gem!

I love La Valentina! It is my favorite Mexican restaurant. The ambiance makes me feel like I am in Mexico. It puts Taco Bell to shame– especially the Salsa Verde. The Nachos Mexicanos are bangin! Who knew Nachos with pineapples as one of the toppings would be tasty?! I always order Dorados de Bistec. The grocery store hybrid is pretty cool! The dining experience is so much fun and my goal is to be bilingual and they are very fun to converse with. The grocery store patrons are standoffish but they were very friendly once they realized that I speak Spanish.

The atmosphere was good it was a nice time and place a little off the beaten path however I would recommend it. Would have given it five stars however fish was overcooked and they took quite a while to get it to me however the people were very nice and the service was great place an atmosphere great as well

This is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever experienced. The place is beautifully beautifully designed. It is very busy. The overwhelming majority of patrons are Mexican. I tried the sampler, I was so taken back that I am still shaking. It was a deliciously spiced, mildly hot shrimp, chicken, steak, sausage with chilies, cactus, cheese and a great sauce. Came with a basket of tortilla’s, rice and beans. OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! If you come in go through the parking lot. After the meal visit the grocery and variety store attached to the restaurant, the store is fantastic. It’s stocked with imported Mexican food, leather goods, it’s worth a visit on its own. If you walk in through the variety store, you may never get to the restaurant, it is so interesting. I’m hoping that if you read this, you will be tempted to find your own favorite restaurant. Do not try this one, I want it all to myself ;)

OG Mexican restaurant situated at the back of a grocery store. This place is a life saver, especially after spending your life savings at trendy(and very good!) restaurants in Pier Village. The price at this spot is right and the food is double right! They don’t speak very good English here, but the Spanish menu has English translations. Just point to something and keep it moving. I had the vegetarian quesadilla meal that came with a side of rice, beans and salad. $ 7.00. Mmmm mmm, talk about keepin’ it real. Don’t forget to wash your food down with a refreshing, ice cold Jarritos.
