Pretty sure they are out of business! Call before you go! Too bad, it was always a good place to go for quick lunch by the beach.

Fun surf ambiance. We went for the ices which were delicious. Service was fast and very friendly. November 2014 just learned Shaka is closed. Bummer.

Big kahuna burrito was made to order but over filled with rice. They didn’t have any hot sauce out spice to add to it. Indoor and outdoor seating. Bathroom is clean. Near the boardwalk so parking is tough. Order at the register and they bring the good to you, but you have to clean up after yourself.

Freaking EWWWWW. Mistake of my life. Steak quesadilla was horrible. Tasted like a rotten slim jim. So much regret

My husband and I took a day trip to Long Branch and stopped in to grab some lunch. We both had quesadillas. I had the steak and my husband had the Baja shrimp. They were huge, we probably could have shared one. The shrimp one was a little sweet for me. It has a fruity pico di gallo, that I just wasn’t a fan of. I usually don’t mix sweet with savory. My steak quesadilla was delicious, wish I had asked for the BBQ sauce on the side though. All meals come with chips and salsa, which were also really good. Be prepared to wait though. If you’re here on a summer afternoon you could easily wait 45 minutes(between ordering and getting your food). Plenty of seating though. They also have shaved ice, which is super refreshing on a hot summer day. Unfortunately the day we were there the machine was out of order. Give it a shot and enjoy!

The worst fish taco I have ever had in my entire life. The taco shell was stale and the fish was bland — no seasoning at all — and was really dry. The taco was so bad that it made me angry I wasted my money on it. I only ate it because I don’t like throwing away food.

Have been going here for 3 summers now. Really the only«fast food» type of place among Pier Village’s many eateries, where you don’t have to sit and get waited on by a server. Usually get the rice bowls and/or the quesadillas which are usually very good. Great beach food, quick and cheap. The cashiers are usually kids and not great. My last experience here really irritated me for some reason. The cashier looks like he’s either stoned or just so indifferent. He finished w/the customer before me and then I walked up and stared at him. He looked at me, looked away and never even said«can I help you» or «welcome to Shaka» or anything. I normally never nitpick but this kid always seems to be there. Regardless, my other reviews are generally good. This place definitely has good food and it’s cheaper if you have to feed many kids mouths :-)

Just moved to Pier Village… we grabbed some burritos and a bowl, everything was good. I think it’s great value for the price. Went off hours so breezed right in

It was my second time coming here and it was much better than last time because it wasn’t during prime time lunch or dinner time, so everything was much better! 1) the service was better, 2) it wasn’t too loud or crowded 3) it allowed my to enjoy the Hawaiian/surf board themed restaurant!!-very nice ambiance! I ordered the Big Island Shrimp Burrito that came with chips and salsa and it was under $ 10! I personally thought it was a great deal cause I ended up getting so full and couldn’t finish my entire meal. I have to say that the burrito is a little bland, but some wkd describe it as light and healthy. Even though the pineapples in the burrito were probably from the can, they added more sweet and juicy flavors to the burrito and it was refreshing! If you want more flavors in the burrito, I would recommend you to ask the cashier to add salsa into the burrito! I have yet to eat a whole cup of ice, but I had a scoop from my friend’s cup… it is exactly what you want on a hot summer day!

Yes, it was a 3.5 but we were looking for something good and fast on a Saturday night, so I broke my «only 4 stars on Unilocal» rule in life. It wasn’t a good sign that the place was entirely empty apart from one small family inside in a corner. We went in anyway thinking the music from next door was fun for the kids, and if the kids went crazy, we were bothering no one. Besides, their menu looked pretty ample with options for seafoodies. We ordered a variety of things… rice bowl with tilapia(good, but cold), quesadilla with shrimp, and shrimp tacos… just a bunch of different things. Shockingly, it all came out within 10 minutes of ordering… BUT, not so shocking when you quickly realized the shrimps were already made and added like a fast food taco bell line into dinners for us. ALL our meals were cold, and the cheese never even melted in the quesadilla… No, just no. Anyways, I give it points for being outdoors, being unique with hawaiian and mexican options, and the taste from the dishes were pretty good(apart from pineapple OVERLOAD sometimes, so you can ask for none)… but PLEASE at least make sure the food isn’t lukewarm, the cheese is melted completely… Also, I think something unnatural or too acidic is added to the guacamole that I didn’t find very appealing. I may go back and try to shaved ice because that’s what I LOVED from my last few trips to Maui. maybe next time.

Shaka is definitely on Island Time!!! Service is EXTREMELY slow… I’m so impatient!!! On top of waiting for what seemed like forever to pack 2 tacos to go — they gave me the wrong order. Had to walk all the way back, wait some more til I FINALLY got my order. I had a shrimp taco and a chicken taco with a side of Guacomole… the food was great! No complaints there. I love the fact they use Manchego cheese… yum my favorite. I really enjoyed my tacos. I’d go back. Speed it up next time.

We came here starving and left less than full. We ordered 2 steak tacos, a Mahi taco, and a chicken taco. Meal came with chips and salsa. Mahi was not fresh and tasted more fishy than expected. Chicken was not seasoned at all. Steak was ok, however the toppings on the tacos were pretty tasty. The tacos were $ 4 each. After eating them and being somewhat disappointed we both stated that we have had better $ 2 tacos.

This place deff needs more registrars. After orderin your meals on a long line(I was here on a Saturday) you go to tables and wait for some person, I guess a server brings over food. Never had legit Hawaiian food but this didn’t seem too Mexican either. However, I got he very vegetarian. It was under $ 8 and was about two flat tortillas with peppers and cheese and some Avocados. Honestly it was very tasty, the type of cheese was great. It was toasted perfectly but then again if you look at the item itself, it wasn’t that intense to make I guess You will also receive torilla chips and«salsa» this salsa tasted like Italian equivalent of Ragu. I could make better salsa with my eyes closed. Over all, id Give this place a 6.5 out of 10. Def hit the spot but the servers need to Pick up the pace and organize the lines better. And make better salsa for those damn chips !

First I must say I’m surprised there aren’t more locations in the area. First things first, as the laundry machine/trash receptacles are a great representation of how this establishment is very eco-friendly. I like the green approach towards packaging and material. Un-dyed plates and just about everything is made of corn. Washer and Dryer as trash and recycling cans. Lots of the old reduce, reuse, recycle. The food here is pretty good, think Moe’s or Qdoba, but a tad better. On par with Surf Taco… Good sized portions, pineapple salsa is meh compared to the real fresh stuff, but I’m pretty sure using fresh pineapples year round would be problematic and would also raise prices. The environment is very west coast. Very bright and lively interior and friendly people working here. Kudos to whoever is riding with this vintage tiki stuff.

It’s the perfect ‘beach’ restaurant. Quick, inexpensive food with a beach theme. My wife and I each went with the fish tacos with a soft shell when we wanted a quick snack after spending the day at the beach. It was a perfect snack. Flavorful and light at the same time. It’s definitely not a ‘Mexican’ place, but more similar to the Hawaiian flavor of taking their cuisine and just giving it a feel good feeling. The chips and salsa that accompanied it was a nice touch. One of the big pluses is that for where its located, its definitely one of the cheaper places to stop and grab a bite. As many other posters have said, in Hawaii it is called Shave Ice without the ‘d’ so yes that’s not authentic. However, I have to say that it is very Hawaiian both in them and presentation. The menu alludes to the Hawaiian cuisine in many ways. It takes many other dishes from other ethnicities and adds the touch of the Islands, ie fish tacos, adding mango or pineapple. Couple that with the décor, and yes that is very Hawaiian, and you do feel like you’re up on the North Shore of Oahu. Just stop into any place up in Waiamea or Haleiwa and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. I think we’ve definitely found our favorite place in Pier Village and one that I will strongly recommend trying.
