Food was great, price reasonable. However the service needs much improvement. Received wrong order, correct order was served to someone else. Was given someone else’s check and most utensils, tea cups and teapot were not clean… unisex bathroom unclean. Not what we expected for Sunday dinner… eek!

This food is utterly ridiculous. The pork bun, the pad Thai, red chickens curry– wow. We are very harsh critics and this place is absolutely worth the visit if you like good Thai.

Warm and inviting atmosphere. Attentive but not pushy, intrusive, nor overwhelming. Friendly, welcoming wait staff who were helpful and kind. Every morsel of good was delectable– this coming from someone who lived in Flushing, Queens for 15 years, surrounded by the best and most authentic Asian food– this was BETTER!!! Wonton dumplings hand crafted, drunken noodle bliss, and Pineapple fried rice that was creamy and delicious! Don’t miss this incredible gem when in Long Branch!

coconut curry chowder AND pork belly bao AND panang curry… for $ 20? yes, please. oh, and eating thai food across the street from the beach while jack johnson is pumpin’ through the resto? yes, yes, yes. wild bamboo was a great find in pier village in long branch. while the area is surrounded by great bars with(i’m sure) decent or better menus, we wanted something a little different for dinner before boozing. having done a bit of Unilocal research before heading out to that area, i was looking forward to trying wild bamboo– we loveeee thai food, and this joint had pretty good reviews. the $ 203-course prix-fixe dinner was a bonus the night we were there, so we headed over for an early dinner. wish we’d brought along a bottle of wine to this byob joint. i did appreciate the glass bottle of water left at the table… no waiting for refills! it’s the little things. the interior décor sits on the fence of modern and industrial farmhouse chic. with bamboo too, of course. the menu is both thai and chinese, though we stuck to thai… and we loved it. i was feeling a little adventurous, so i started with the coconut curry chowder– a thick soup made with sweet potatoes and coconut milk, some pork belly, and thai spices. it was delicious, and a pleasant surprise since i wasn’t sure what to expect initially. i want more! next up was a pork belly bao bun– what a hit! the bun was large and oh-so-soft, and the pork belly inside was tender and smothered in a delicious sauce. would definitely get again. lasty, i had panang curry with beef– since i’m a total wuss, i asked them to go light on the spice. the dish was phenomenal. packed with veggies(eggplant, string beans, carrot, etc) and peanuts and strips of beef– it was delicious. i was full at this point in the meal, and i was sad that i couldn’t finish the dish. so yummy. i was so into my meal that i forgot what boyfriend ordered. i wasn’t sharing, and neither was he!

It’s not too often you see a place with a combination of Thai and Chinese and here’s a reason for that. Unfortunately the quality suffers as a result. We got suckered into their 3 course dinner for $ 20 which when you do the math may be more of a marketing ploy than a good deal depending on what you want to order vs. what you order just because it’s part of the deal. Nonetheless, we had great service and the atmosphere made for a cute place to hang out and talk. The food was ok more a place to go for the convenience in pier village than the quality of the food. My stomach could only handle a few bits of the entrée.

I ate here the other day. It was my first time and the food was actually very tasty. Usually the food in Pier Village is a letdown, especially Stewart’s which is horrible compared to other locations. The only issue I have which is evident bc i ordered multiple variations are the drinks. The water they use for there drinks taste worse than the water from my faucet at home. Whatever water they use makes everything taste metallic. Other than that everything was a thumbs up.

I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and The Mango Duck(take out, food was ready in 20 minutes). $ 36 with tax. It was very very good and the portions were generous(lasted me 3.5 meals) They offer a good selection of dishes — I can’t wait to go back again and explore the rest of the menu. End of story.

Delicious meal with the family on Friday night. Waiter was extremely attentive and offered lots of suggestions for dinner. Soup(wonton) was flavorful and hot, salad was large, fresh and delicious. We devoured the honey boneless ribs and edamame appetizers. Kids meal portions were very generous and same for the adults! We will definitely be back.

If pictures are with a thousand words then the pics on there website are lying. I really wanted to like this place and heard some good things about it but was very disappointed. The food was just ok and never very hot. A few of the things I wanted they were out of and you’d think that on an off season Saturday night, they’d have everything on the menu, not the case. Won’t be back

I was initially attracted to this place after seeing a pic of their pork belly bao, which is one of my fav things to eat. It’s rare to find pork baos down the shore. So my friend and I dropped in for take out which we wanted to bring back to our hungry families waiting at the beach. It was around 3pm and the restaurant was empty except for 2 tables and another customer waiting for his take out. I ordered 2 orders of pork baos and a scallion pancake. My friend ordered edemame, pork dumplings, crab Rangoon, and a pork bao, all appetizers mind you. Then the looonnnng wait began. 10 mins passed, then 20, then 30 then 40. I asked for a status of the order a few times and was finally told the dumplings were being made«from scratch». I wish they could have told us this info before we placed our order. This also didn’t explain why my order took forever. Finally at around the 50 min mark the bags of food emerged from the kitchen. Having a customer wait nearly an hour for takeout is not acceptable, given that the restaurant was NOT busy. As far as the quality of food, the pork baos were decent. The buns were soft, the pork was cooked properly, not too dry, and drenched in a hoisin type sauce. There was some sort of slaw as well. My husband and I were starving after waiting so long that we devoured the food. So that’s a good sign I suppose. I won’t compare the pork baos that I’ve had in the city(ie Momofuku) cause it wouldn’t be fair, but these are acceptable when you have a craving and you’re at Pier Village. Bottom line, service needs improvement but the food is decent. Just expect to wait an extremely long time.

Wild Bamboo has a great location in Pier Village. The décor inside is sleek and dark, but my friend and I opted to sit on the small patio outside after a day on the beach. My pad see ew with chicken was alright, although it could have used a stronger flavored sauce. The prices are affordable, view is great and location is right. If you are in the mood for Asian food after a day on the beach, I would recommend it for decent food at a good price.

This is kind of like deciding whether you should date the rocker guy or the sweet nice guy. Some parts and foods of this restaurant are bad, like totally bad rebel like, and then some are totally nice and sweet. The thai iced tea was– meh the pad see yew was pretty good. I have to say, the best part of this night was watching the busboy trying to juggle 10 glasses in one hand and an abundance of plates in the other, while trying to open the door. SPOILERALERT: those glasses had a very short life. #RIPGLASSES

First off, our waitress Viviana was excellent. This is not a commentary on her. The food wasn’t that good. I had«the three musketeers and beauty». It smelled a bit off, skunky even. The spinach and cheese dumplings were made with a cheese that didn’t seem to go with the combination. That same cheese was used to make the crab meat dumplings(which were on my entrée). The cheese made all the dumplings, spinach and crabmeat taste the same. The mei fun was good, and the presentation nice. The restaurant is nice looking though there is only one bathroom for guests to use. Overall the food didn’t taste fresh.

I ate at Wild Bamboo for lunch with my Mom during my visit home to NJ and had a wonderful experience! The location is great — right in Pier Village directly across from the beach in Long Branch. We were greeted warmly by the hostess who also offered to open our bottle of champagne right away(we know how to do lunch on the weekends;). Note: This restaurant is BYOB, but in case you forget I learned they have a sweet deal with the Wine Loft around the corner where you can get very reasonably priced bottles. I had a hard time choosing what to order off the menu, but the waitress was very helpful providing feedback and advice. We wound up splitting the summer roll as an appetizer but asked for vegetarian(Note to restaurant: shrimp should be listed when an ingredient for people like me with allergies). It was really light, fresh and delicious. We also got it with the peanut sauce which was extra tasty without being too sweet or overpowering. Next, my Mom and I both got an order of the Tom Kha soup with tofu. It was the best Thai soup I ever had! The coconut broth was perfectly balanced with flavor and a touch of creaminess. The veggies were cooked perfectly, and the tofu provided the protein kick and substance needed to make it a filling meal. I can’t wait to get this again when I go back. Overall, the restaurant décor was modern and Zen. The booths were comfy and all the food coming out of the kitchen looked great. This is the perfect casual spot for lunch or dinner when you’re looking for some global-inspired cuisine by the jersey shore.

My girlfriend and I were deciding on a spot to have dinner after a day at the beach. Judging by the few, but excellent reviews, we decided to give Wild Bamboo a try. When we arrived, the hostess told us we could have any seat available outside. Unfortunately, we had to wait about 20 minutes before the server even gave us a menu, water, and utensils. He apologized and we subsequently forgave him for it. We decided on getting the Pork Bao Buns as an appetizer, with the Panang Curry and Honey Pecan Shrimp(mine) as our entrees. After ordering, we had to wait about 25 minutes for our appetizer while our water ran out and our waiter was nowhere to be found. The Pork Bao Buns were excellent but the wait just took a lot out of the experience. After receiving our appetizer, we had to wait another 30 minutes for our entrees. The Panang Curry was delicious, however, the Honey Pecan Shrimp came in an extremely small portion and did not even come with rice. It did not even reach half of the small, long plate it was on. This was very disappointing to the point where my girlfriend had to share her rice with me. It was not worth the $ 14 as it was listed. Over the course of our meal, our waiter was still nowhere to be found and never checked up on us. In order to pay, we had to go up to the hostess’ podium, since our waiter made us wait too long. Overall, it was a upsetting experience, and I do not recommend eating here.

Very impressed with Wild Bamboo. I have been following the renovation process on their Instagram so I could not wait to get here as soon as they opened. We started with the spring rolls which were simply gorgeous, clean and delicious. Followed by Shrimp with Thai Basil, Bell pepper, onion, broccoli, garlic, carrot, peas in a spicy chili sauce which was so awesome. It is a BYOB where you can buy a bottle over at Wine Loft. Highly recommend this place if you are at Pier Village!
