Christmas, everywhere! I’m not ready for this. Garlands, trees, stockings, ornaments, and lights galore. The Pear Tree is the ultimate Christmas shop. While I’m not a fan of a lot of dust-collecting creepy ass santas, or re-decorating my entire home for a single holiday, they do have a beautiful selection of affordable tree ornaments and everything else you could possibly want to decorate the interior of your home. There was also a small section of Chicago gift-ables like serving trays and dish towels, but these were on the pricey side. I think they are open year round, and being here pre-Halloween still definitely put me in the mood to watch some Christmas movies and drink hot chocolate. 3 stars for Christmas spirit.

Christmas year round?! I don’t know about you guys, but that sounds like my personal hell. Absolutely, hands-down, without-a-doubt, no-contest, my least favorite holiday/time of the year. Hate that sh*t. But my mom, on the other hand, is a total Christmas kook. Like, should they ever film a hoarders Christmas special, it’ll definitely be filmed at my parent’s house. Not a single square inch goes without some sort of crazy red, white, green, gold, Santa, snowmen, choir kids, angels — you name it, she’s got 30 of ‘em, at minimum. So, I take the momz to The Pear Tree Shoppe. They only sell Christmas stuff all year long, and she’s the only person crazy enough to feel a need for(even more) Christmas stuff in July. It was a perfect match. She spent probably 15 minutes in here, but it seemed like a lifetime to me. They had about the same selection that any seasonal, pop-up Christmas store at the mall, nothing that was going to reinvent the holiday, but all the necessary items to warm the cockles of my mother’s heart. There was a tiny section with sale items, but none seemed priced low enough for Christmas items being sold in July. I just couldn’t see the joy in paying full price for a totally out-of-season holiday, but my mother felt differently as she spent a bit of payola on a few ornaments she saw with her and my dad’s names on them… because you can never have too many of those… in July. The girl working in the shop was really friendly and sweet and offered my mother several options for wrapping her ornaments and I really have to give it up to her. If Christmas is your thing and you feel the itch to be surrounded by it’s knick-knacks during a non-holiday time of the year, this is decent place to check out.
