Good sushi, service and décor! Prices are a bit high, but the quality of sushi is good for the suburbs area.

Third time is the charm! Ordered chirashi for dinner. Thick cuts of fresh fish as usual. Also ordered ama ebi(sweet shrimp). Ivy provided great service(as usual)! — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Second time I have been there. First time got a teriyaki salmon lunch special which was a good deal and tasted fresh! Wifie had ramen noodles, which was fine but the noodles were a little soggy. Today, order sashimi off the regular menu to go. Was kind of pricey but had a coupon, so not bad at all. Thick cuts of 20 pieces of sashimi and very fresh! Lady at the counter was very nice.

Went here for a quick dinner of sushi. The restaurant itself is very bare and plain but it’s good for a quick bite. It looks like a lot of people order out as many came in to wait for orders. Now to the sushi. I have the volcano roll as well as various sashimi. The sushi was very yummy and the sashimi was good thick cuts. Very fresh. The food is great and if you live locally it would be a great carry out location.

Food was good flavor crunch roll was different from the traditional it does not have a crunch on it we have to ask them to put some on top hahah, the worst part of our visit was my wife ordered a tonkatsu ramen and the Chef forgot to make the food so my wife end up eating nothing but all appetizer, we will understand if the restaurant was busy but theres nobody there only our table and another couple, the server was very apologetic about it but theres nothing she could do. Worst thing that a restaurant can do is forget to make the food for customers thats why you are a restaurant to make food and you will forget about it hahhaa.

My husband & I checked out Kawa 3 on a Tuesday night. We were greeted right away, and had awesome service. We have been to the Grayslake location many many times. Its very different but its still really good. The sushi is high quality & comes out fast. We also ordered the spring rolls and they were great. I would recommend Kawa 3!

This place is great! The sushi and food are very fresh. The waitstaff is very friendly and personable. The waitress was soooo nice and made an effort to interact with our 2 year old daughter who just loved it. I recommend this sushi place to anyone living in the area. We will be back!

Okay so I’ve eaten here a few times but always from carryout since they are close to me and that’s just easier for us these days. I feel like the food has overall been yummy and tasty and the prices are reasonable for the simple rolls like spicy salmon and spicy scallop. The white tuna is also yummy. I wouldn’t say the sushi is the best in the burbs, but it hits the spot when you are craving it and the prices won’t break the bank. I have to say the place is nice and clean every time I come and pick up from them and they aren’t usually busy right around 6ish on a Saturday night which is a good or bad thing, not sure. However, I do want to give them a few positive stars for their awesome service. They do offer groupons or other coupons which are usually dine in only but one time we really wanted to carry out and use the coupon and because we have small babies, they let us do that as a courtesy which I can really respect since they bended the rules a little in order to make it a little easier for us which I can really admire and makes me want to order from them and give them my business. I like that because that makes me want to come in and actually dine in with them knowing how accommodating they are. Stand our sushi not to be missed is I love their shrimp tempura roll, the spicy scallop roll and the white tuna crunch. Also, dragon and other special ones are tasty but just a little pricier. Thanks Kawa, you guys are sweet!

Came here once more and this time was much more pleased. Sushi was yummy and reasonable priced. I wish their selection was a bit bigger but overall I had a much better experience this time around

Five stars!!! The sushi is always fresh with artistic presentation. There is always something new to try and the staff is always helpful with finding that perfect roll. Great sake selection and an awesome place to dine with family and loved ones. I highly recommend this venue for any sushi lover!

This starkly modern Asian/Sushi restaurant was deserted Halloween night, but the Sushi was both delightful and priced right. Unlike some Sushi places reviewed on Unilocal, the waitstaff was friendly and communicative. For example, our server explained the 9 different pieces of Sushi that came on our«Sushi Deluxe» sampler. The items we ordered came with a Miso Soup(excellent) and a simple salad(basically lettuce and a ginger flavored dressing that was unexceptional). All in all, a worthwhile experience, even if a bit odd with no one else in the place on a Saturday night.

Cute spot with good tasty sushi. Skip the calamari. I know who orders that anyway at a sushi place, but it was nothing extraordinary. Stick to the basics and order sushi. Not the best sushi I’ve had, but definitely a great alternative when in the neighborhood.

My girlfriends and I pick up sushi to go which was delicious! We had a nice variety and all kinds were great. Very generous portions and the service was quick. The décor inside is quite plain but since we were headed back to my house it was perfect for us! I would definitely do take out again!

Food was good, but the environment is very disappointing. The prices were OK, but I probably won’t eat there again unless they make the place more inviting.

I was really excited when Kawa 3 opened up. A sushi place in Long Grove. I never saw that coming, but I was glad it did! I went here on a Friday bought and it was pretty empty. When we walked in we were surprised by the lack of ambience in the restaurant. It is very cold and empty looking. There is a lack of decorations, the seating was not comfortable, and there was no music playing. We decided to try out two rolls and decide from there whether or not we would stay for more. We ended up leaving. The rolls themselves were okay. As others mentioned the specialty rolls are a bit pricy, but they do make them look pretty. The classic rolls were not a bad price. This is more of a carry out place than dine in restaurant. Also they do not serve liquor but you can bring in a bottle of wine!

Being a huge fan of sushi, I was very excited when this restaurant finally opened up. Here’s how the restaurant stacks up: Price: On the pricey side Quantity: most of the specially rolls were only 6 pieces, not 8. And they were not that big either. Quality: definitely fresh fish, what brought the rating from a 2 to a 3. The rolls were also poorly rolled and only a few held up when I used chopsticks. The end of the day I was left poor, still hungry, and frustrated with my dinner. The one shining quality of the restaurant was their Spider Roll. Half if he crab was sticking out of both ends of the roll!

The Rolls are bland and tasteless! Everything tastes like warm white rice with spicy mayo swimming in it. The only item in this restaurant with any flavor is the Miso Soup. Unfortunately the flavor is terrible and the Miso Soup tastes like fish instead of the sushi. We literally had to choke this food down. The suburbs of Chicagoland continue to disappoint with very few actually good sushi places. Don’t waste your time or money

So we’ve been eyeing Kawa 3 for a few months now. I love sushi. I can eat it once a week and not get tired of it. However, there is a lack of decent sushi places in the northwest suburbs. Everywhere has over-vinegared rice and/or not-so-fresh fish. Anytime a new sushi place opens, we are usually there within the first couple weeks. We stopped in today for lunch. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but very modern and contemporary with an industrial look. This is also one of very few places that are open for LUNCH on a Saturday. Most of the other local sushi places are either closed for lunch on the weekends or charge dinner prices. One thing to note is that they did not have a kids menu. However, the lunch prices for the amount of you food you get is very good. We ordered the 2-roll lunch, the sushi and sashimi lunch, and the steak teriyaki lunch. There is a lot of fish for the price. Also, the steak teriyaki is actually a small piece of decent-quality steak. It’s not a cheap stir-fried random meat. Everything tasted very good and fresh. The rice was not overly vinegary. The teriyaki sauce was yummy. Overall a very good showing. Will return to try more menu items. Keep up the great work!
