Quick, delicious, and cheap Masa’s sushi .The sushi was excellent and the family that runs the restaurant was very friendly and gave great service!

Love this place. Excellent sushi at a great price. They used to own the Sushi Masa in Vernon Hills. I started going there 16 years ago. The quality and freshness has remained the same. Although not the prettiest or most romantic place to have a meal, the food is great.

I’ve been a customer for several years. I really enjoy the spicy fish bowl salad, spicy tuna seaweed salad and their bamboo roll. My wife loves their salmon teriyaki. The quality has been consistently good and the prices are pretty reasonable. Worth trying if you haven’t yet.

A hidden gem of sushi. High quality for reasonable prices; on top of that the owners are super nice and always greet you warmly.

Best sushi. Reasonably priced. Really fresh and fast. Lovely mom and pop place. More of a take out place.

Great to go, very good prices! Basic rolls under 4 bucks, you can’t beat that. Friendly owners. Very limited seating and very little décor, but who really cares when it’s a primarily take out joint.

I recently went on a sushi binge and went to several different sushi restaurants in the past week. Having gone to Masa’s for year, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t becoming complacent. Masa still takes home the win. Hands down the best Sushi takeout around town. The rolls are well rolled and do not fall apart when you pick them up, always one of my biggest frustrations when they fall apart. A lot of their rolls are 8 pieces instead of 5 or 6. There’s a huge selection too. The price is also very reasonable. I got two regular rolls and two massive specialty rolls for under $ 40. I’m pretty sure it’s family owned because the same woman always rings you up, so it’s great to support a family business as well.

This is a take out restaurant(a couple small tables for those who want to dine in). The price and quality is really quite good. They are very nice and will customize a roll for your tastes, etc.

We were looking for an early lunch of sushi, on a Saturday. We pulled up and they had opened an hour early, so we stopped in. It took them awhile to make our order, but that’s understandable. The sushi combo c was delicious and very filling.

The best(for the price and to go)! Friendly, no nonsense staff that consistently remembers regulars. Solid sashimi. Good selection of special rolls. Cooler of authentic soft drinks. Good sized portions.

It is disappointing that it isn’t a sit down place, but the owners were quite friendly. The sushi was average only because the seafood didn’t taste as fresh. Overall, if you want to get sushi on the go, then this is your perfect place. Also, the price is very much within reason. However, this is definitely not a family setting place.

I was on my way to get my nails done at Nails & Spa Studio when I had a craving for sushi. I couldn’t find the menu for Taste of Tokyo online(#1 pet peeve about restaurant websites!) so I was searching for an alternative and found Masa’s(their menu is in the photos on Unilocal). As luck would have it, it is right next to Nails & Spa Studio so I ran in, grabbed a menu, and ordered 6 rolls while my nails were drying for my boyfriend and I to share when I got home. The wait time was 25 minutes, and that was perfect, as I was cuddling with a Maltipoo named Riley while my nails dried. But that’s a different story. They had my order waiting for me as soon as I walked in. The interior is small and clean. You could probably have lunch or dinner with 1 – 3 other people here, but it seems they get most of their business from take-out and catering. They appear to have a loyal customer base, based on the multitude of photos and Christmas cards that were taped to a display board. My 6 rolls(2 specialty — Buffalo Grove and Happy — and 4 regular) cost me around $ 45. The rolls were good value for the money. The quality was good. Nothing out of this world, but certainly good, solid sushi that hit the spot. My only complaint as there is far too much rice on the rolls. It is thick and they seem to double it in on the end in order to make the roll a little thicker. I found myself removing the end bit/cutting off the excess on the seaweed wrap in order to make the rolls more manageable. The rice is good though, and I was nibbling at it after eating the pieces. I will probably come back for some quick, solid sushi, but will be removing the excess rice. Maybe I’ll try Taste of Tokyo first.

This place is within spitting distance of my house, so that’s worth one star. Another star comes from the fast service – it’s a little carry-out place, and I’ve never had to wait long for my order. The third star comes from the quality of the food: for the price, it’s pretty damn good. The fourth star comes from the friendly service. They’re always willing to accommodate substitutions and special directions(i.e., no spicy mayo) and never screw it up. It would get a fifth star if they actually made a restaurant website and provided an online menu. It’s a pain in the butt to have to drive over there to order because I can’t look at the menu beforehand, and I don’t always remember to take extra menus with me when I leave.

I feel like this place is my little secret. Whenever i come here to pick up some sushi for lunch, i’m usually the only person in the store, but i’m cool with that. The owners are friendly and the service is speedy. I usually get two rolls: california and with spicy tuna or salmon. Yeahm i’m boring… but they’re delicious! This place is moderately priced for a sushi shop, my order of two rolls ranging from 6 to 12 pieces is usually $ 11 – 12. They also have a mini-fridge with mitsuwa-esque products in there. Things like dumplings, ramen, sodas, etc. Love this place ^_^

This place does only carry out and I have to say that I only come here because of the convenience factor. It is 30 sec from my condo and when I don’t feel like going anywhere nice and when I know I want to settle for below par sushi– I come here. What I DO like about them is that they never mess up my order, very friendly over the phone and when I come in they always greet me with a smile. Plus, it takes them like 10 minutes to make 4 rolls, so that’s pretty fast if you ask me. Onto the sushi, it’s very reasonably priced and the rolls have a decent amount of fish which is a plus. What they do wrong is over stuff it with rice? Just why cover up wonderful and fresh fish with an exorbitant amount of rice. I do have to say i enjoy the philly tan roll with shrimp tempura as my guilty pressure.(i usually stick to the raw stuff elsewhere) So overall it’s an a okay place if you’re not sushi snobs like my husband and I, and we come here once or twice a year when we’re too lazy to go anywhere else. Countdown has begun and I shall see you in December :)

It’s pretty bare bones inside, and is definitely focused on takeout even though there are a few small tables inside. When I’m in the mood for quick and easy sushi that doesn’t break the bank, I’ll stop here on my way home. The spicy tuna don at ~$ 12 is a good deal, and will fill all but the most gluttonous eater. The staff is friendly, and it’s not amazing, but nothing matches them at at their prices IMHO.
