Sushi is good. You need to find a spot where they put the food on the boats otherwise you don’t get anything good.

Great value for an all you can eat sushi. The quality is good for the price, $ 15.95 lunch. It gets packed at lunch time so that’s a testament that they’re doing it right. Joseph, the sushi chef and owner, really takes pride in pleasing his customers. The set up is an interconnected train of floating sushi boats. Grab what you want as it floats by. Don’t see what you like? Just ask. Also included are some apps(like Edamame, gyoza, spring rolls, mussels, etc), miso soup and salad. Shrimp tempura maki and spider maki must be requested from the kitchen. They’re made fresh so it takes a little. My favorites are the crawfish nigiri, salmon nigiri, super white tuna nigiri, rainbow maki, sunshine maki, ebi tempura maki and spicy tuna maki. Is the crawfish from Louisiana? No, but there’s no way it could be for the price. Do yourself a favor and support this mom and pop business. You won’t be sorry. To the haters, Bye Felicia; you won’t be missed. Take your business and go roll the dice at the ayce factories like Sushi Para 1,2,3,X, and Sushi Grove.

Oh my sweet baby jesus. We stumbled upon this place by accident and boy, am I glad we did. $ 23.95 a person for all you can eat sushi. And it’s good. Real good. A decent selection of appetizers and rolls that you won’t find floating on the boats are included in that deal, too. It’s comforting that you’re able to watch the sushi chefs prepare the food in front of you. And they will drop items on the boats whenever they get empty. Very fresh, very delicious and very friendly! My only complaint is that my credit card was charged twice, once for an incorrect amount which I’m assuming they canceled, and they didn’t tell me.

My husband absolutely loves this place. He wouldnt ask for anything more than«All you can eat sushi». The quality is fantastic! Absolutely fresh and clean. They make the sushi in the middle while visitors eat around them. Sushi goes by on a little boat and you grab what you want. Im a vegetarian– no meat no fish. And I love this place! They accommodate you if you let them know. avocado rolls, cucumber rolls, and their to die for sweet potato tempura roll(and I dont even like sweet potato!) Staff friendly as can be. I dont know if its true but if you take a plate and not eat it they may charge you… kind of rightfully so– DON“T WASTE!

Loved this place not bad for $ 15.95 lunch All You Can Eat Sushi ! They have you sit on the sushi bar with rotating boats filled with various types of sushi & appetizers. Not only that but the waitress who provides you with drinks will also offer you miso soup if you’d like some. It’s not that crowded at all I went on a Friday around 1 pm.

For $ 16.95 all you can eat lunch this place is the bomb. Everything was fresh and well prepared! Skip the soup go right to the Sushi. The concept is cool with the boats delivering a flotilla of dishes. Check it out I think you will enjoy this place.

Very rude. Went years ago, found them to be discourteous and inconsiderate! Hakuya sushi is my favorite — great sushi, lots of extras, smiling service! Amazing value!

So like I always say first impression is everything and this place absolutely made that impression for me, let’s start upon entry the ambience wasn’t very loud or busy, this business is located in a plaza, now the first thing I noticed as soon as I entered was these sail boats going around in a circle with food in top, turn to find out it’s the all you can eat buffet where you get to sit right in front of it and snag your food, the chefs keep making rolls non stop so as the boats go around you see down different rolls each time, also they ask you if this is your 1st visit and for us it was, they were very attentive and we’re always on top making sure we didn’t need anything. This place is very neat and clean/inviting. Staff is very friendly and they will make sure you know which rolls are going by if you don’t know. No comments on the restroom since i did not make a stop there. Other than that I will return. Great food.

Based on recommendation from a coworker, I tried the AYCE for lunch today. And aside from the spider and spicy crawfish, everything else was really just basic and to be quite frank the selection was very limited. As for the price, I paid $ 21.30+tip, so I disagree with the other reviews of how its such a great value. I’ve had dinner at that price with a greater variety and included some special rolls. It was a busy Fri afternoon, and took some to get seated. I had to ask for a drink. The chef tried to keep the plates coming but more often than not the boats were empty. And as I already mentioned all the rolls were basic and consisted of your average selections. The Chef wasn’t the friendliest either, he seemed to dismiss or be annoyed by both of my requests. I’ll pass if my coworker wants to go back.

I really enjoy coming here with my husband. And if there’s something you like but don’t see, you can ask the sushi chef to whip it up for you!

Cool sushi place to take your friends or your family if you want the experience of stuffing yourself full of sushi from a set of constantly rotating riverboats. This is probably the biggest reason to go here, because you do have the option of seeing your food before you choose it, you can try many different options with 2 – 3 pieces in general per plate, fried food is extremely hot and crispy when you get it, you can start eating immediately when you sit down if you’re very hungry, and you can track how much you’ve eaten by the number of plates next to you at the end of the meal. The boats were restocked surprisingly fast after people took plates off them and constantly contained a wide variety of options. The wait staff is also extremely nice and lets you know about additional options such as soup, salad, and ice cream that come with the meal. The only thing really preventing this from getting 5 stars is that it’s a bit pricey overall. The prices for lunch and dinner are a few dollars higher than other local all-you-can-eat restaurants and the quality is not quite as high as Sushi Para or Sushi Grove. However, the choices are a bit different here, with options a bit on the lighter side with less sauce and seasonings. The flavor combinations are a bit more on the Korean side instead of Japanese or Chinese preparations. There’s also a bit more non-fish options(sweet potato, egg, fried foods, etc.) for those who are just following their sushi-loving friends. Overall, this is a pretty cool concept and a fine place to enjoy a nice sushi meal. Great if you have a special event, are coming right from a movie, or have another great excuse to enjoy grabbing pieces of sushi off a floating riverboat.

Here’s what you need to know: Best sushi value in Chicagoland. Period. Also, consistently fresh sushi. It’s All You Can Eat(AYCE). I LOVETOT! This small hole in the wall restaurant has been a Buffalo Grove landmark for years, with patrons who keep coming back over and over for the incredible sushi and value. I’m almost tempted to not write these great things about the place, so as to maintain its best kept secret in the neighborhood status, but the owners and staff earn and deserve every success. I’ve been a repeat customer for more than 6 years, and the reason is simple: there is no fresher sushi at this price point. For that matter, there is no better variety and freshness available at this price either. What’s more is that their quality and taste of fish is superior to many restaurants charging 2x-3x what TOT does. They have an AYCE lunch at $ 16 pp and dinner st $ 22 pp, and the meal is worth several times that price. The AYCE includes nigiri(not just junky inexpensive Maki like many competitors do), and offers elaborate offerings like spider rolls and White Tuna. What’s even better is that the tempura/spider rolls are fresh fried so they are beautifully crunchy and hot, when you bite into them. The vinegar rice is fresh, well seasoned, perfectly moist, and served at the right temperature. The AYCE also includes salad, soup, and a wide variety of appetizers. Giving TOT anything less than 5 stars would be unimaginable.

Taste of Tokyo is the best around, hands down, no questions asked. I’ve made the mistake of checking out other local sushi places and all were horrible compared to Taste of Tokyo. Taste of Tokyo uses fresh fish, you never have to worry about anything. The waitresses and sushi chefs are AMAZING!!! My boyfriend and I are regulars here and whenever we come in, Joseph knows exactly what we love and starts making it for us. I will never go anywhere else again.

Came here for lunch and overall, pretty good experience. Never knew an AYCE could ever existed on floating boats. The service was great. The waitress made sure all of our needs were fulfill and even the chef was taking any order requests that we wanted. For the most parts, the boats were always filled with sushi rolls so we never had to wait too long for which rolls we wanted and even if there wasn’t a particular roll on the boat, the chef assured that’s our request was being made. Come in hungry and left full so I was pretty satisfied!

Customer Service: The cashier/server who helped me with my to go order was very patient as I looked through their menu, and took my time to decide what I wanted to eat. When I asked her what would be good to order, she knew the questions to ask and knew how each item tasted like. She made it easy for me to make a decision. Food: I really loved the rolls I ordered — Rainbow Roll, Tempura Shrimp Roll, and I actually forgot the last roll I ordered. I was satisfied with it and the craving I had for Sushi was satisfied eating it from here. I also ordered the File Mignon and chicken for my Fiancé which came with a Tuna Roll, Miso Soup, a bed of rice, and salad. He let me try his food and here is what I found. The Miso Soup was good, as well as the salad. The Tuna Roll tasted great without any soy sauce. As for the Filet Mignon and chicken, it didn’t have that much flavor to it. I’m not sure if this is intentional, but I like a lot of seasoning when eating meat. The soy sauce was the saving grace to be able to eat the meat with rice. It is possible that they intentionally made the Filet Mignon and Chicken under seasoned, so when ordering and you want a kick to your meats, make sure to let them know.

I have been here only for lunch and if you want to get some meat then you need to get there before the lunch crowd starts. This a boat setup where sushi is placed on a boat and it moves on water around the table and you can pick which ever you like from outside the table. The chefs will be standing inside the table and prepping the sushi and placing them on the boats. Tip: If you want a specific sushi you like, yell out the sushi and they will send it for you. Not the greatest AYCE sushi I have been to.

The whole meal was like $ 24.50 with tax excluding tips. I am not sure, i think i could have a really nice meal elsewhere for this price. The restaurant is a bit dark. If you are doing the buffet you have to sit by the buffet bar. They make you wait even if all the tables ate empty if the buffet bar is full to be seated. Your buffet comes with miso soup(not good), salad(the dressing was too sour) and ice cream(green tea, mango or red bean). The ice cream was not very rich, had better elsewhere. My favorite was just the salmon sushi, the white salmon, the clam, and spring rolls which is not sushi. Had a piece of imitation crab meat that was not fresh at all, disappointment. They make you eat the rice of the sushi. The curly hair lady with glasses was nice, but then this straight hair very petite lady who wears a white apron walks out and was plain rude. Pushes my wallet to the side just to make room for people, could have at least asked! When i has 3 pieces of rice sitting in my plate, comes over and tells me i must eat the rice. If something is not good i have to force it down my throat too? Where on the menu does it say that i have to clean my plate? For the ice cream, i wanted to try 2 flavors but the lady said i could only have 1. I wonder if i asked for a second serving if she would say no. They bring out greasy mussles and gyozas from the kitchen every now and then and place on the boat. Sometimes the plates on the boat dont have a cover, which is gross. The restaurant is clean bathroom is clean, but i don’t like how they try to control their buffet. The concept of the moving boat was nice but it got kinda dizzying after a while.

After raving about this place for months, my friend finally took me here. I was really craving sushi, and I think this place satisfied my sushi craving. The experience was awesome, as the sushi travelled around in miniature boats. The plates were small, but they piled up pretty fast, and I got full very fast. I think Taste of Tokyo offers a great variety of maki and sushi, and I wanted to try all of them. Unfortunately, I couldn’t, because I got full too fast. I would recommend that you come with a small group of people because I came with a group of 8 and I ended up talking to the three people that sat close to me. Also be sure to team up with your friends, instead of getting one of each thing, so you can try each sushi and roll. As for the taste, to be honest, I don’t remember too much of it. I just remember that the food was delicious– but nothing too special. However the AYCE experience is definitely worth the money and time!
