We have tried a lot of sushi around this area and their fish has been the best quality we have experienced. Love the staff and very convenient take out.

We ordered lots of food and were impressed by quality and cost. It’s nice that they delivered, and all the sushi and sashimi we tried were very fresh. Look forward to dining there and checking out the place more. Thanks!

In a word, amazing. I had the sashimi regular and my wife the salad, tuna roll and gyoza. We also got a kids meal for our daughter. The sashimi was fresh and some of the best tasting salmon I have had. The slices were generous particularly for the price. The gyoza were perfectly fried and it came with a salty and sweet sauce that was perfect for dipping. My wife always gets a side salad in hopes of getting some great ginger dressing. She was not disappointed. Their dressing was some of the best she has had. The tuna roll was able to be ordered in side out with the rice on the outside. This was a nice touch because we like our soy sauce and it seems to soak it up better that way. The kids meal was adorable. The steamed vegetables were delicious and it was the perfect amount of food. It even came in a cute box and had a kids toy. My daughter loved it. This was our second time going here and hope we cwn go many more times.

So, I live around the corner, and I love sushi… might as well give it a whirl. The menu is limited, some(previously frozen) fried apps, edemamme, etc… some sushi rolls, nigiri, etc. I call to place an order so it could be ready when I get there. I order 3 rolls, edemamme, pot stickers, shrimp tempura and 2 pcs of nigiri… simple. My wait time…45 minutes… AREYOU F’INGKIDDINGME? My wife said«oh just go, nobody is ever in there, it wont be that long». So, I go over at the 15 minute mark… a lady and her kid are sitting eating… a friend is waiting for his to go order, and another woman is waiting as well. I pay for my order and sit down. There are 3 people making the sushi, and 3 other employees up front and one in back…7 employees that I could see. 35 min mark… still waiting. So, then a friend and her son walk in to eat in, followed by another lady and her daughter(40 min mark), then 1 more woman. 45 minute mark, they bring out a few rolls, pot stickers and edemamme… for the lady and her daughter that just walked in 5 minutes ago. WTF? I ask the dopey guy who brought it out«excuse me, I ordered 45 minutes ago, been here 30 minutes, and this woman and her daughter… no offense… just walked in 5 minutes ago and they are getting their food?» His response, «maybe they ordered ahead». My response«I am not an idiot, I have been sitting here 30 minutes, I watched them walk in, look at the menu and order… infact, you took the order». 3 minutes later, the elderly Asian woman is packing up my food and gave me 2 little small sides of the garlic edemamme«on the house»…BFD. I can go to Sushi Grove for all you can eat sushi, with 3 other guys… we can order 4 – 5 rolls each, cpl pieces os sashimi and nigiri, appetizers to start… and their 3 sushi chefs get it out for us [as well as a full restaurant] within 10 – 15 minutes while we eat our gyoza, crab rangoon and other starters. In fact, any other sushi restaurant, I go to or carry out from, is never any longer than 15 – 20 for dining in or carry-out. It was quite sad that as I was waiting, and another carry-out order came in, the dopey manager starts saying«now we are at an hour»…AREYOUKIDDINGME? The only thing you’re cooking, are the previously frozen appetizers… and your sushi menu is limited. You rarely have anyone eating at the restaurant and you have plenty of employees working that tiny place… why cant you pump this food out faster? I het waiting 45 minutes for a large Lou Malnati’s…it takes that long to cook. I have worked/ran restaurants where only 1 person per station, seatings of 300 ppl and you get 10 min/ticket on apps and 30 on entrees(if you had to cook chicken)…thats it. Maybe I am spoiled as a chef, or I know what goes into working a line and cooking food for a living… oh wait, this is sushi, its just assembly. The rolls arent even that big, they were kind of dinky… and I spent close to $ 50. Again, could have gone to any all you can eat sushi place, eaten atleast 3 times of what I ordered, and spent $ 25…probably would have been in and out within the 45 minutes I just waited. Never going there again.

I have ordered delivery sushi from here a couple times now and I absolutely love it. The sushi is great and the customer service is even better. They called to let me know my order would be on its way shortly and even got it to me 20 min before the estimated delivery time and the delivery person was very friendly and then I even got a call about 30 minutes later asking if everything was good with my order. I appreciate the awesome customer service!

So beyond happy that a GREAT sushi place has opened up near my work. This place is affordable and some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! The website has wonderful photos of each roll, which is super helpful. The restaurant itself is more of a pick up to go as they only have a couple of chairs at a bar to sit. They do offer other Japanese treats in the restaurant, though, like Pocky and Ramune. I ordered the Flower/Hana roll and the shrimp and cucumber roll. The Flower roll is quite seriously the best sushi roll I’ve ever had. It’s Salmon and Tuna together wrapped in a pink soy paper. Absolutely recommend. The shrimp and cucumber is also great, but very standard. I will definitely be back to this place and hope to order all of the rolls eventually!

We got a flyer in the mail advertising $ 2 off of $ 15, so we decided to check it out. We found the menu a little counterintuitive, but the person ringing us up was helpful at making sure we understood what we were ordering. She told us our food would be ready in 15 minutes. A half hour later(yes, they lied about the time approximation), our food was ready to go. I was a little disappointed with the serving of the siracha roll, I felt the ends were too short and shouldn’t have been included in my number of rolls. Miso soup was a good value! It spilled in the bag, but the part we had was good. For some reason I thought my Eel bowl had Udon noodles, so I was disappointed with that, and I wouldn’t recommend it as it is 90% rice. Overall, it is an OK place and we might try it again, now that we know how to order better. However this wouldn’t be my first choice sushi place for my next sushi dinner in BG.

This new sushi place is awesome. Their chicken teriyaki bowl in the kids meal was AMAZING also their Philadelphia Roll was really good. Service was super kind I will definitely be back here. The kids meal comes with a super cute plush sushi dust plug. Miso soup was very good. Fresh, clean, and modern unlike a lot of the other local sushi competitors.

Great Place. Great Food. Never had sushi before this place opened across the street from my house and I decided to try it out. All I can say is that I received great service from Charlie and his staff and the food was out of this world. I will be back again for sure!

Being new to the area, and not having many friends, I decided to try this Unilocal, and find a something close to my house for dinner. Coming from the west coast ive had my share of fresh fish and AO does it better than anyone in Chicago. Ive most ordered the platters for work and they are affordable and filling. Highly recommend for office parties or lunches. And they deliver!

We took our kids here and they loved their kids’ meals! The Japanese food was delicious — both my sons gobbled it down and the kids’ meals came with sushi plush toys! My husband loved the garlic edamame. I ate a ton of sushi and it was wonderful. The place has seating, but it is set up as a to-go place, primarily. They have a lot of Japanese dry goods in stock so if you are looking for specialty Japanese snacks and beverages, this is the place to go! We will be back! :)

Small-ish store-front sushi place is more pleasant inside than you might expect with a clean vibe and modern sushi bar feel. The staff and posted menu could use some clarity. I found the cashier staff person somewhat awkward in manner, and he had to go ask questions about the food(maybe they were new?), and told me the udon bowl was much too small(asking me to order other things) even though it turned out to be meal-sized. They were unable to add chicken to the bowl when I asked – the only protein option they had was shrimp tempura – but then when I received the bowl it had imitation crab meat. So who knows. Gyoza came fried, instead of traditional steamed as I expected. I wish there would have been a choice or at least the menu said. Store carried some traditional Japanese store items like oi ocha green tea and Pocky sticks, which is great. A staff person we met later who I might assume was the manager was very friendly and brought extra ginger and to-go boxes fast. So some things to improve, but willing to try again.

I was looking forward to this place opening up… I ordered the Hana party tray for a girls night, and when I came to pick up my order it was already packed up and ready to go. It wasn’t until I got home that I saw they royally messed up my order!!! I ordered Hana party tray, and the tray they gave me had 2 salmon rolls 2 unknown rolls and the rest were California rolls! Obviously, I called to complained, I was told that I would have to wait 45mins or so for them so remake the tray because they were busy. Which is ridiculous!!! I told them I will NEVER order from them again, and I would just go around the corner to Kawa 3. Where after trying the sushi at AO, I can tell you the sushi is soooo much better at Kawa 3! I had soo much«sushi» left over… and not because there was too much food, but because the California rolls were gross… and lets be honest, Cali rolls are cheap filler rolls that no one wants to eat. I told them to make up for this mistake, and embarrassing experience they owe me a complementary tray. The gentleman on the phone agreed. So we will see on Sunday if they are able to make up for this horrible experience. Went back for my complementary tray, and I was still disappointed. The rice seemed old or on the dry side. I wasn’t given any spicy mayo. which might have saved this experience… a little. Such a shame! The staff is very nice but the quality of the sushi is beyond sub par. I will go back and drive the extra block to Kawa 3 for really good hand rolls and always yummy sushi at a reasonable price; or drive the extra2 miles to Hakuya for amazing service and outstanding food!!!

Really a 3.5 but will round up to 4 since they were really nice people! Pros: eel roll was a real bargain! 6 pieces for $ 3.69! Tasty too! Great customer service! Free edamame! Has japanese snacks and mochi! Cons: Tornado roll had thin small slices of salmon on the top of roll. Could have been more generous since it was a specialty roll. Rolls seem to fall apart too easy. Verdict: will be back again. It is like a mini Mitsua! Owner and everyone is so nice!

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the sushi! We ordered garlic edamame(was cold), Miso soup(tasted like water), spicy tuna tartar, Chicago Fire, spicy tuna passion roll, tornado roll, spider roll, & salmon hand roll. The salmon was very fresh and the«best roll» was spider. I give them for having my order ready in 15mins. Won’t be returning.

Very high quality sushi at an affordable price. I had a tuna roll, California roll, shrimp tempura roll, and Samurai roll. All of the fish and vegetables were extremely fresh, the rice was light and cooked perfectly, and the ginger wasnt cheap. I love sushi, and this was some of the best I’ve ever had. The design is very modern and sleek. It is focused on takeout orders and you could mistake it for a cooperate fast casual restaurant. It’s a small space and I think they utilize it very well. Perfect place to stop for quick lunch or on the drive home from work Everything is reasonably priced. Costs the same as the sushi from the grocery store but competes with fine restaurants. The price and feel is comparable to Chipotle, Noodles&Co, or Five Guys. This is going to be a winner. There are so many options when choosing a restaurant that one has to really stand out to be special. This place is something special and I’m excited that I know about it now. Do yourself a favor and try it, you won’t be disappointed

Very nice people there! The workers and the owner treated me with so much kindness that it made my day 10x better! I love the idea of the place. It’s kind of like a high end fast food place like panera but with sushi. The sushi tasted so fresh! Defiantly making it a go-to place for me.

So when a new sushi place opens up in BG we all know that I need to be there either opening week or close to that and so I did just that. I placed my carry out order on a Friday late afternoon around 4:00pm and upon arrival there were two other people placing orders and I could see them rolling away with incoming take out orders. The lady who took my order seemed very nice and pleasant on the phone. They had my order ready in 20 minutes so that was nice but I only got like 5 rolls to give them a try to see the quality of the food. Okay so they get one star for being very nice and polite. Another star for having everything ready and being decent in prices. And a third star for having some tasty sushi overall. I truly thought that the prices were fair, some of the special rolls could get a little pricey but I can see that at any place. The simple rolls were yummy but the people doing them seemed a little young in my opinion. Definitely younger than some of the other sushi chefs around the suburbs but I wasn’t going to let that distract me. I also noticed that they wore gloves which is not the proper way to make sushi but I do appreciate them being clean especially during flu season. When I got home, I bit into the sushi and it was not bad, not the highest quality but it will do the job if I’m in the area and want a quick lunch with decent prices. The only issue is that some of my rolls fell apart, like the seaweed didn’t stay around the rice like it’s supposed to. Now I’m no expert but I don’t know if it’s because they wore gloves that it doesn’t stick as well or maybe their technique was off, but that’s not the best first impression. Overall, the place is small and great for take out. The spicy rolls could definitely use more spicy mayo. The people making the sushi could use some extra practice but I do wish them well since the wilmette location has been around for a while and does very well.

Tried some take out from AO Sushi tonight and I’m excited to have a new sushi option so close to home! My husband did the pick up and reported that the restaurant is nice and the staff friendly. The manager even stopped to say hello while he waited. It is a counter service setup and they also have prepared take and go foods. We had two hot appetizers and four rolls, and all were fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised to see they have several kids meals including some American food options which means we can try dine in with our kiddos and be sure they’ll have safe foods if they aren’t in adventurous moods. Their take out packaging is great and makes the food look as good as it tastes, too. My only slight complaint is the packets of wasabi — maybe it’s as good as the little mounds of it that I’m used to but it doesn’t seem as potent.

Last year I would go to Willamette once a week and I would always stop by and get sushi at AO Sushi. The place is always packed always busy and you still get your food very quickly. Especially for cool to order meals. You can hardly understand make excitement when I showed up to work one day and right beside me was a new AO Sushi about to open. The owner introduce himself to me as well as the staff and right away you knew that these are good people. I’m already familiar with the brand and the sushi so putting together a very friendly team my expectation were high. Today was there first day open and the sushi exceeded my expectations. As soon as you enter the door everyone is very friendly and you are greeted with a warm welcome. The menu is very large and well lit so picking out something to eat was very easy. They also asked me what I liked and gave me some suggestions. I’m pretty easy. I like scallions and sashimi. The suggested the sashimi platter and I also got the yellowtail scallion roll and a couple pieces of Unagi. The sushi was so tasteful and large. Nothing like fresh sushi. The pieces were larger than I expected which was a wonderful surprise. I was offered miso soup as well and would had taken it but I really wanted the sushi. The yellowtail scallion roll was fantastic and Unagi two thumbs up. I could probably eat a whole eel. Highly recommend !!
