Elite Event: Waterfront Fun at LIC Landing

Inaugurating my 200^th review, is the waterfront event at LIC Landing, which clearly is THE event of the year in my books, and quite likely ever.
A private, catered event along the LIC waterfront with views of the Manhattan skyline with finger foods, desserts, wine/​beer, and good company? How can you beat that? Live Jazz and great weather. It cooperated this time and we caught a view to kill for.
On tap was SingleCut beer, a local Queens brew… and Barefoot wine, plenty of it, so much so that they kept popping bottles of white wine all day. The most remarkable thing hands down was the raspberry bar and brownies!
It was wonderful mixing it up with plenty of familiar and new faces we had time to catch up with. Plenty of us had so much fun that the party continued straight on until the last tent was folded up and the sun had set long after the event was over.
A hefty big-​ups to Jando, the Queens Unilocal team and COFFEED for throwing a kick-​ass event, one that I will not soon forget!

Lovely event! Beautiful day for an outdoor event by the water. I know Unilocal doesn’t control the weather, but it def made the event quite wonderful!
We arrive to our own area little area, with white tents, rite by the bridge. This area is newly opened to the public. Great park for families. They even have a sand area where kids can play. Also saw lots of fur babies enjoying the park. The view of NYC is amazing! Also a great spot for a hot date!
The Event:
Music: Live band playing jazz… don’t be afraid to shimmey… this band was awesome!
Drinks: Barefoot Moscato anyone? They also had a choice of barefoot red wine. Two varieties of singlecut Brewery beers, one was Lemon beer which was a Belgian-​style. I went for the moscato… cheers!
Food: Sliders, Panini’s, French fries, and very pretty green salad. I had a slider topped with mushrooms and a grilled cheese Panini… YUMMMMM…both were good. Fries were crispy golden deliciousness.
Dessert: Decadent brownies and raspberry bars… who could complain? not me! Both were fresh, tasty goodness!
All this yumminess was made by the place conveniently located rite in the park… COFFEED! Owner is a cool dude. We actually went to check this spot out after the event, lots of seating facing the water and lots of yummy selections, great place to grab a bite if your visiting this place!

I know this might upset some people, but IMHO Queens is the best Elite borough in NYC, possibly the world — if there were more boroughs. And I know this is because Jando and the Queens crew are awesome. Just when you think the Elite events can’t get any better, you arrive at one with the most amazing view of the city, a jazz band playing fancy music and happy people enjoying beer, wine and food.
This outdoor event space is perfect. The views are breathtaking and it’s not a far walk from the train at all (when it’s working). You can even turn around and watch adults and children alike enjoying the park.
I tried a panini or two — not sure what was in either of them but they were tasty. The chocolate raspberry dessert was my favorite. That disappeared in seconds. The stand out for me was the coffee. I usually take my coffee light and sweet because most coffee has a bitter, watered-​down flavor, but not this coffee. It was tasty without any added sugar or milk. It was so good, I actually went to LIC Landing the next day for another cup.
Great event at a beautiful location.

This was my first Saturday Unilocal event and I enjoyed. You cant get better views of the NYC skyline then in LIC. We had the perfect weather and view.
I heard that some had a problem finding this place which I don’t get since I found it right away but maybe I just got lucky.
As I got there I was greeted by Jando who is always a pleasure to see :)
then I made my way to the wine station where they had either white or red, I went with the red and mingled a little while I took in the beautiful views.
Then they started serving food– mix green salad, burgers, paninis and French fries. My favorites were the crunchy, well seasoned french fries and paninis.
Then they brought out dessert– cookies, coconut macaroons, brownies and ices. I didn’t get to try all of the desserts since I don’t really have a sweet tooth but I did enjoy the macaroons.

Between the perfect summer weather, awesome waterfront skyline view and the live jazz music — this event (and location!) had all the perfect ingredients for a perfect summer Saturday evening.
Between the white wine, red wine and the 2 varieties of Singlecut Brewery beers I went for the Singlecut Lemon beer which was a Belgian-​style blonde and by far the superior tasting one of the two… as far as my palette was concerned.
The brownies dusted with powdered sugar were warm, chewy, decadent and absolutely perfect. The sliders provided by Coffeed weren’t bad, but what really stood out to me were the 3 cheese panninis stuffed with fresh arugula and to my surprise (because no one else mentioned it) BACON! Can’t go wrong with 3 cheeses, bacon and fresh greens — yummo!
I liked the overall intimacy of this setting and the size we had roped off for our use. Lines were well-​organized, staff was efficient and friendly and the scenery was beautiful. Thanks Jando and Unilocal for another Unilocal Elite event well done!

Burgers with blue cheese, match made in heaven. My name is Steven S. & I am a French Fry & Ketchup addict … The fries were cook perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft & moist in the inside & the salad was banging with a hint of wasabi. I want to shout out my man TURTLE who was working hard, making sure the food kept on flowing!
The views can leave you breathless. I had to stand for a moment & take it all in. I had the pleasure of meeting other Unilocalers, like my man Jando. Great dude I felt like I known him for years, welcoming & friendly spirit (Thank you buddy for everything). I also had the pleasure of meeting Jason M. from the Hurst & Nadia Z & Peter K… *Good Peoples* …. That is what Unilocal events is all about Good Food, Great Company & Insane Views.

This was arguably the first Unilocal elite event I’ve been to (not counting the one I attended as a plus one) and it was fantastic! Not going to lie: I was mostly looking forward to this event for the views, the food, and chilling with my best friend who would be leaving for Boston soon. Yet, despite our slight antisocial-​ness during the event, we did get to talk to some interesting people when everyone gathered around the food trays (cause food!). Also, it was great to finally meet Jando, the community leader. Everyone was super friendly and outgoing. I’ll definitely be attending more elite events, and next time, I intend to be much more social. :P
So, starting with the food: They began the evening with rich, fudgey brownies topped with fresh strawberries; then moved on to fries, salads, sliders, paninis, and cookies; and finished with some absolutely delicious mixed fruit shaved ice. Other than the shaved ice and brownies though, most of the food was just ok. I’ve had better sliders and paninis elsewhere. But hey, it was free food by the waterfront! Can’t dock points for the food not being exceptional cause the experience sure was. I’ll review the food in detail on COFFEED: LIC Landing’s Unilocal page.
Overall, the event was a huge success: The waterfront offered breathtaking and relaxing views while people gathered around the food tents and chatted with each other above the soft, soothing, jazzy tunes of the band. The turn-​out was great! One of the organizers told us that nearly 200 people were on the list, and by the looks of it, at least 100+ people showed up, probably more. And I should add that this was on a day when the trains were being ridiculously bad! Coming in from Queens, you could only get to Queensboro Plaza via the 7 and had to hop on a shuttle to get to Vernon Jackson. Coming from manhattan, you were pretty much out of luck for the 7 and had to hop on the E or M to court square then walk. Still, people made the trek and the event was totally worth it! I was using this event as a send-​off for my best friend and it turned out wonderfully. She had a blast.
(Also, as an added perk, some of us early arrivers got Unilocal sunglasses for checking in! My phone wasn’t cooperating unfortunately so I wasn’t able to check into this event but Jando gave me a pair anyways. Unilocal swag is always nice, haha.)

Coffeed was great. They had burgers, quesadillas, salad, fries. wine, beer, & coffee. Also, a lovely jazz trio accompanied the event. They were great.
The quesadillas were yummy. I had a cheese/​spinach & then a cheese/​chicken one which tasted more like veggie meat actually. So it may have been? Either way, it was delicious. I was satiated. And the fries were yummy too, I believe with sea salt.
The coffee was tasty. Strong taste at the beginning of the cup & then fruity notes at the end. Quite interesting.
Met more new Unilocalers and +1’s, which I always enjoy.
The view is amazing. I love Hoboken & all, but to appreciate where you live by visualizing it from another borough is quite epic.
Jando wins at life. Always awesome to see him. Been too long, bro.

Best summer party yet! This event happened to be at one of my favorite spots in New York with a breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline at LIC Landing. Aside from the 7 train construction, the event was remotely easy to find tracking the soothing jazz and groups of classy dukes duchesses and friends sporting red Unilocalglasses.
The food was filling. Highlights were beefy sliders (sliders are quite common at Unilocal events), thin panini killing hunger, salty hot fries, and refreshing white & red wine and foamy beer to alleviate stress while witnessing a glorious sunset behind the city towers, the silhouette of Manhattan within arms reach (almost). The jazz band was delightful enchanting the atmosphere and adding a level of sophistication and luxury without the need for gold plated cups and personalized waiter service. The jazz really makes a difference. Kudos to the musicians and their talents.
So blessed to partake in this event! Thanks to Jando and his crew who came early to set-​up tents and tables in the heat so we could enjoy the summer extravaganza. The events with a view are the best!

As a second event, I had so much fun and can’t wait to attend more. I’ve wanted to try Coffeed for some time and just never had the chance.
There was a great turn out and I met so many crazy fun people. My plus one was equally impressed and maybe I’ll convince him to be more active on Unilocal ^_​^

Wine by the water, some tasty fingerfood being passed along, located within my favorite park over laughs, drinks, wine spillage on my foot (thank you Annie for that and again, guy whose name I can’t remember — sorry!) followed by more laughter! It most definitely was a great day spent and certainly couldn’t ask for better. Looking forward to many more!

This was easily a 5-​star event. LIC Landing venue itself was beautifully pleasant. A section along the river across from Manhattan’s Midtown East. You’d appreciate the city in its daytime glamor without being caught in its hustle and bustle — glittering skyscrapers spread across the horizon had never seemed so peaceful.
COFFEED owner Jie was very kind and friendly — went around to introduce himself and chat about his business. He is very passionate about coffee as a socially responsible product in demand, and mention about a new location opening in Chelsea soon — also their first opening in Manhattan.
COFFEED edibles were generous and tasty. Their salad was amazingly delicious — raspberry vinaigrette over freshly picked mixed greens (grown in Brooklyn Grange). Sponsor also offered burgers, salted french fries, hot coffee, and platters of desserts — cookies and a variety of baked sweets.
White and red wines from Barefoot were offered. Who says wine and coffee don’t mix? Wine and coffee just happen to be among my favorite things. And, let’s not forget about the band playing music for us in the corner. I think it was jazz?
Will definitely make an effort to visit LIC more often and stop by COFFEED in Sunnyside.

Wine by barefoot, beer by singlecut and bites by Coffeed paired with the endless view of the Manhattan skyline topped with Unilocalers and their +1’s galore, a winning combination through and through. Forget about the 7 train not running on weekends, nothing stopped this event from being a success it was meant to be.
LIC Landing and Unilocal truly gave us a great Unilocal Saturday to remember. Set on Gantry park, near the east river ferry. This recently developed side of the park was a nice setting to get a little tipsy and some panini, slider, fries, rooftop grown greens, sweets and oh that apple ice. Yes, Unilocal queens spoiled us much. How can we and our +1’s not be impressed?
And no it wasn’t too early for pregame. Love love love! Thanks Jando and Unilocal staff and LIC Landing and staff for a superb Saturday afternoon!

Jando, Matt, and Nelson, you have all outdone yourself once again! Kudos to that!!! I had a blast and can’t wait for the next one on Friday. 3 events this month… I’m there!
Every one of us were styling in our red Unilocal sunglasses and we all looked FABULOUS while dancing to the jazz music (they were really the cherry on top)! The view was amazing and the weather couldn’t have cooperated more. And the food provided by COFFEED were delicious. I couldn’t get enough of those brownie, cheddar biscuits, and coconut macaroons. Now this is what I call Summer Lovin’!!!
As always, what truly makes these Unilocal events are the different mix of people that makes the night unforgettable. To sum it up: Good Times… Great Company… A Lifelong Worth of Memories!

Events like this are the reason it’s neat to be Elite.
LIC Landing should be considered one of the premier event spaces in all of New York City. The View is simply awe inspiring. When your here, the worlds most amazing city is the backdrop to whatever your doing.
The Event: Free beer & wine, a band and some of the coolest Unilocalers in all of NYC. I had a great time. I got an opportunity to connect with Unilocalers I knew from the site and to meet new Unilocalers. All in all it was chill and classy event. And it didn’t hurt that the location was prime photo op material.
I left this event with a few dozen potential profile pics (thanks again to the view) and a few more friends on Unilocal.Quite productive if I do say so myself. Shout out to Jando and whoever else had a hand in putting this cool event together. This has truly been the event of my summer so far and I’m extremely eager to attend more elite events.

Evening waterfront event on a summer weekend? Yes, please!
So, there were the ‘issues’ — thanks to the MTA and the early-​day grey skies. but patience always has a away of paying off. The music kept playing and beer/​wine kept pouring and before you knew it, we were all basking in the evening sun.
Spoiled. Yep, that’s what we are in Queens.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at COFFEED for helping to organize and run such an awesome event. The (locally frown) bites were amazing! See you on Friday: D

I love Queens events. I really do. They are as diverse as borough itself, and with Jando at the wheel (ahem…entrance), it just bound for success.
We got lost a bit looking for the event — in a good way — this waterfront park is massive! New, beautiful, clean, and full of people enjoying summer breeze and spectacular views. (But of course, event was rather easy to find if we only stopped looking around as see huge red flag with « Unilocal» written all over it!)
Privately sectioned potion of waterfront just for us Unilocalers! Woot!!! Chilled wine, beer, snack and food — burgers, salad, fries, brownies, Italian ices — perfect portions to take bites and mingle around. Even weather played in our favor — overcast with cool breeze.
It still amazes me to meet some of you strangers in real life, after all this time — simply great people!

What an event! To sum up the day in 3 words: Pier. Beer. (And plenty of) cheer.
My +1 and I hopped on over to LIC Landing via ferry boat which was super quick/​easy. I couldn’t think of a better setting for this event. That view! As I checked in, I was greeted by jando, some familiar faces and a mini jazz band! Or ensemble shall I say. It felt pretty darn fancy.
As the people flooded on in, the food did too. My favorites of the night included the sliders, veggie and cheese flatbreads and the vast array of desserts. Put the words raspberry and chocolate together… I’m there! Those little bars were chewy and the perfect amount of sweet. Oh and the cheddar herb scones — dynamite. I also really enjoyed the wine and beer stands. It was a refreshing treat (especially the lemon beer).
After a few elite sign pictures and several crazy jump shots later, the sun set and it was time to head home. Great to see many of us recovered from the last event (apologies to our livers on that one). Much thanks to Jando, Matt, Nelson and the staff — you’re all awesome! Had such a blast, as always.
P. S. My +1 was super impressed, I think I convinced her to become a more active Unilocaler. Wahoo!

Wowowow. A most wonderful time. Despite the 7 train failing us, the commute was honestly not too bad. I would have made the trek even if it took 2 hours though — I always have an amazing time at the Queens events and this one particularly will be hard to top.
Let’s see. a breathtaking view of Manhattan. An amazing live band. Tasty bites that included flatbreads, sliders and salad plus a plethora of tasty sweet treats (coconut macaron was bomb). Awesome bartenders pouring red, white and beer, left and right. The awesome ’14 elite prop making for epic selfies, group and jump shots. Too good.
I’m pretty sure all of my Unilocal friends and everyone I follow (I’m a creep) was in attendance. It was so good to see everyone. I’m sorry if you missed out. This was definitely one for the books. Jando, you’ve outdone yourself! Plus LIC Landing of course — thanks for an amazing time.

I stick pretty closely to Murphy’s Law, an epigram that goes: «Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.» Certain things, such as the MTA, seem to follow it quite closely. Case in point: the 7-​train between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza was halted for weekend repairs, a fact that made me briefly reconsider if I should risk being stranded in Queens with a non-​functioning line.
Well, if the MTA follows Murphy’s Law, Queens Elite Events follow Yhprum’s Law: «Everything that can work, will work.»
From the moment I stepped onto the pier, the sunny skies, the endless stretch of waterfront against the Manhattan skyline, and the growing crowd of Unilocalers and their +1’s affirmed that I’d made the right decision for my Saturday afternoon. A quick check-​in by Matt, coupled with a high-​five and a pair of sunglasses from Jando were all that were needed to enter the enclosed area along the waterfront.
The next few hours went by in a blur. There were certainly plenty of photos being taken (and bombed), and plenty of conversations and laughter. Certainly, the drinks (pours of beer and red and white wine) and brewed coffee (compliments of COFFEED) helped, and we were even treated to live music as well. A few bites were available throughout the event, including sliders (smartly cut into fourths), panini slices, as well as a handful of fries, a reminder of the ones that Shake Shack used to serve (yes, I like my Ore Ida fries). With so many people to greet and catch up with, it was soon 8PM — well over an hour after the official end of the event.
Perhaps the fact that many people stayed well after the close of the event is indicative enough as to how well it went; people continued to linger long after the food and drinks were being served, and as the tents and chairs were being folded and rolled away. Or perhaps that’s just the magic of a superb Community Manager (Jando), a solid crew (Matt and Nelson), and a warm and welcoming business, such as LIC Landing by COFFEED, being run by a great staff.
