Pranavah Yoga Studio

Awesome location and space, On the 3^rd floor of an elevator building. I would suggest coming in dressed for yoga, but if you have to change there’s a bathroom. Carolyn and Kristin are great teachers and attentive during class. I would bring all my family if I could.

I found Pranavah through classpass and regularly take Carolyn’s classes. She is motivating and challenging and 60 minutes of barre classes with her go by quickly. No class is the same and classes are small so you get individual attention. She also has a great playlist!

I absolutely LOVE it here. I joined in May and cannot stop going. Every single class is amazing, the instructors are phenomenal and you get individual attention. I am seriously in the best shape of my life.
Big shout out to Carolyn who is super sweet and always accommodating to my hectic schedule at work.

I absolutely love Pranavah Yoga Studio! I was a complete novice when I started almost a year ago, having never attempted yoga before because of past back injuries and surgeries, and to be honest I was quite out of shape. I wanted to change that, and had heard wonderful things about the studio, so decided to set my ego aside and walk the few blocks to give it a try.
It has been one of the best things I have done for myself! Carolyn, the owner, is kind and attentive, and takes the time to make sure you are comfortable and understand the various positions and techniques that were completely new for me. Her studio is a warm and comfortable place and her students reflect her dedication and kindness as well. I am now able to take a few more challenging yoga classes and she has also included barre classes, which are fantastic. Give her an hour several times a week and you will see and feel the difference! I have yet to meet one of her instructors I haven’t been equally impressed with.
The Friday night restorative yoga class is absolutely the best way to start you weekend, after a week in this crazy busy city we call home! I feel very fortunate to have Carolyn and her studio in my neighborhood, its become an important part of my weekly schedule!

I recently moved to the area in July and have come a few times for the Pilates Stability Ball Blast and the Barre classes. I really enjoy the Barre classes. I have class pass so have come through my CP membership. I have been to barre classes in the city at Physique 57, Pure Barre, The Bar Method, Exhale, and Fly Barre, and honestly this class is just as good of a workout. I def feel the shake and burn. Similar workouts as the other studios, which honestly I find all pretty similar. Here you can go barefoot or with socks.
The teachers I have had are 1) super fit 2) veryy nice. They have all been very calming and sweet personalities that still encourage you to push yourself which I enjoy when going to classes. Great central location in LIC on 48^th St near Vernon.

I must admit, yoga had once intimidated me even though I was intrigued in the prospect of having a more chiseled physique, as I see that most yogis enjoy the benefit of having, but now I can’t stay away from it. I had previously had knee surgery as well as always hurt my wrists when trying it before so I did have some apprehension. I decided to express these concerns to Carolyn McPherson owner and teacher at Pranavah Yoga Studio here in Long Island City, and was reassured to just give it a try and see how my body feels afterward. I believe that a person will show how well they are in spirit by how they exude that energy through body and spirit and I was not let down by her in the least. She is an example of how I want to look and feel.
The great thing was when I joined an existing class, without anyone I knew; I still felt right at home and comfortable being at a beginning level. My favorite class is a vinyasa flow with focus on alignment. We were all at various levels yet Carolyn was and is able to give each of us the individual attention we need through example and feedback as we went through the smooth progression of positions. Carolyn was right there to make sure I was in proper alignment and I felt no pain whatsoever and at the same time, had a great workout. I felt like I made great use of my muscles, feeling tight yet relaxed all over. If you have any questions like I did, I’m sure any teacher at the studio could answer them. I have found them to be very helpful. :-)

Pranavah is a great studio. Carolyn is one of the best instructors that I know. Her classes are instructive and with ideal environment. I was so inspired and wanted to attend every day.
The studio is clean and well lit and conveniently located.

I LOVE coming here! I found Pranavah when I was searching for a prenatal yoga class and I found a gem! Perfect for what I was looking for! I took the Birthing from Within classes with Carolyn and it was great! Her teachings and nurturing way of being prepared me for the big day. I’m no longer scared — I’m ready!!! My husband enjoyed the classes as well. He feels prepared and at ease. I’ve also started taking her prenatal yoga class which was great and I’ve been bringing my niece to the music class for toddlers. She loves it and always asks me when we’re going back lol. I’ll be going to La Leche League meeting soon as well too. It’s just a great place overall, always clean and welcoming. I Love Carolyn — she always welcomes you with a smile. I’m definitely going to continue getting my zen on at Pranavah!

I have never taken yoga before but as a first time mom, I decided to explore prenatal yoga. I have recently taken several group and private sessions with Pranavah and these sessions have been helping me relax and prepare me mentally and physically for child birth and motherhood. The instructor is very knowledgeable, professional and a great source for calmness and putting a new mother to be at ease. I highly recommend these prenatal classes!

Best yoga studio ever! The first time I tried yoga was with Carolyn at Pranavah Yoga and I have never looked back. Carolyn is extremely knowledgeable and radiates a peaceful inner zen making practice an enlightening experience. Carolyn is welcoming and non judgmental to all students regardless of their skill level, which was particularly important to me as a newcomer to the practice. I highly recommend Pranavah Yoga, irrespective of whether you are a seasoned yogi or new to the practice.

Carolyn is the very definition of balanced and zen. She has a calm and welcoming demeanor that encourages introspection and learning. I have only ever experienced and heard great things about Carolyn’s instruction and would highly recommend Pranavah Yoga Studio to anyone in Queens and beyond.

Pravanah Yoga and owner Carolyn are just magical! Moved to the neighborhood over 18 months ago, and Carolyn’s studio is everything I have craved in a yoga practice: a warm, caring environment with top quality instruction that both challenges and soothes the spirit.
But it wasn’t until I was expecting my first child that I’ve realized what an incredible service Carolyn has provided this neighborhood — her prenatal yoga classes are divine. She nurtures and encourages in ways that build a strong community amongst so many expecting mothers in the neighborhood.
Pravanah offers a whole series for pregnant and new moms. From breastfeeding help to Baby Pilates to Baby Sign Language (the coolest thing!) — she literally has something almost every day that allows new moms to get out of the house with baby in tow… And Dads are welcomed!

My younger sister is pregnant and asked me to be in the delivery room with her and her husband on the big day in a few weeks. I wanted us to be prepared so I found a Bradley Method 12-​week class at Pranavah –two blocks from both of our apartments –Her hubby didn’t love that sessions were Sundays 3 – 5 during football season, but we made it work-​. Our Bradley instructor, Vivian Cardinale was just amazing. Talk about love and enthusiasm. She was all about the awesomeness of the female body and spirit and miracle of nature and baby birthing. I can’t go on and on enough about how dedicated Vivan is-​how supportive, in and out of the sessions, how committed, non-​judgmental-​how much she just CARES!!! We feel ready for the big day. Sure, you don’t need 12 weeks of information about birthing a baby, but we welcomed it and feel much more empowered because of our willingness to learn! THANKS VIVAN!!!

I have been going to Pranavah for a few weeks and taking the prenatal yoga. Its a 10am Saturday class which is a great way to start the weekend. The class is a good, but not too tough, workout and excellent stress reliever. Carolyn is a great instructor and a trained doula, so in each class she often shares breathing techniques and other bits of advice around giving birth. If you live in the LIC area and are pregnant, I recommend coming to the prenatal class at Pranavah.

I, like many men, attend yoga at the request my wife. Those that don’t — rethink your strategy. Try it out, you will make the lady in your life very happy. You might even enjoy it.
Having said that, I’m very new to Yoga and have been to a few studios but this one is by far the nicest. Very calm and friendly to beginners like me who have absolutely no idea what they are doing.
I’ve been to others where poses are belted out in rapid succession and I’m left completely confused. «Warrior what? Downward which?» By the time I figure it out they’ve moved on. Not so here. Very calming, very patient, but knowledgable. She seems to be able to cater to all skill levels.
Additionally, my wife and I have attended various baby and birth themed workshops as we are expecting. This studio is really a great resource to have in the neighborhood.

This studio is exceptional. Calming, professional and challenging your practice every class. Carolyn is engaging, conscientious and inspirational in her teaching as she attends
to your every need as a student. This studio is clean, well lit and designed beautifully with high ceilings and exposed brick.
Try it out. The 6pm Friday class is a mix of yoga and meditation to ease our if the work week into a relaxing weekend mindset.

Carolyn is an amazing instructor. She gives you so much individual attention during class. I have just recently joined the studio but I have seen so much progress (and results) already. The small class size and all the tips and pointers you get really set Carolyn’s studio apart from other studios that have an average of 10 – 20 students. Her price is also in line with other yoga studios.

This studio is terrific! I have been attending since Caroline opened a year ago. Classes are great, she is a very passionate, calm and patient instructor; that is always on top of every student to avoid injuries and prepare yourself to evolve in your postures. Classes are small which is great since you get almost personalize attention. Caroline has helped me to correct bad habits that I brought from the past and avoid injuries.
Workshops about interesting subjects like meditation, balance, among others are also offered.
I fell full of great energy every time that I go there. Usually I usually tried to go 2 – 3 times a week, the studio has different schedules to accommodate everyone agenda.
I fully recommend this place for a yogis that are looking for great studio with a well round knowledgeable teacher. If you are looking to have a more personalize 1:1 class rather, full of inner connection rather than a massive/​gym type of experience this is your place! The studio is very cozy, full of natural light and very convenient located.

What a great yoga studio! I just moved to Sunnyside, where’s a lack of yoga going on, and this studio is conveniently located right by the Vernon-​Jackson 7 train. I signed up for $ 80 a month (for new students), and the class schedule is great — several classes in the morning and evening.
I’ve been practicing yoga for less than a year, took a couple months off, and was specifically looking for a more intimate studio to start back up again, and this has been a great fit for me! Carolyn’s classes have been exactly the right level of challenge for me so far — I’ve only done the Warrior Flow class, but I’ve learned something new (i.e. different position or a better way to do a pose) in every class, and she is very encouraging to help you develop some of the areas where you might be struggling. Carolyn has a very soothing voice and the individualized attention is great — especially when trying new moves.
The studio itself is very bright and clean with high ceilings, and the brand new Manduka yoga mats and blocks are a nice touch. At first, the sound of the traffic on the street can be a little noticeable at first, but Carolyn does a great job of helping guide the class into the practice, and low key, soothing music is played once the sequences start. I like the balance between the spiritual elements of yoga and the fitness aspect (we did push ups at one point, which I’ve never done in yoga — but my arms will thank me for it, so why not?!)
This is one of my favorite classes in the city so far! I totally recommend this studio and look forward to continuing my practice here.
