Rapid delivery. Fresh ingredients. Basic bagel and sandwich place. Ordered the hawaiian devil wrap, overall was good, mango salsa did not have any mangos in it. Also order tuna salad sandwich, good as well.

This is a great place to eat brunch or breakfast. They have a create a salad. They also have a list of bagels you could choose from. They also have lunch which includes a variety of sandwiches and Mexican cuisines. I personally enjoy the cheeseburger deluxe. The coleslaw it’s also a must. I also suggest the lox bagel with cream cheese.

*MYVERYFIRSTREVIEWEVER* I normally don’t get breakfast on weekdays and this store closes on weekends, so I usually go next door, American Hero. Today I decided to try out this place to see which one has better food. I ordered what I normally get which is a sausage egg and cheese on a croissant. While I was waiting for my food, the cashier charged me $ 5.50 for my croissant and then a min later she said«you didn’t tell me you ordered two eggs» I was like«yes I did say sausage egg and cheese on a croissant and I did NOT ask for 2 eggs.» Anyway, she asked for another $ 1.50 for 2 eggs. So I paid $ 7 for a sausage egg and cheese on a croissant. Wow… what a rip off and rude lady… go to next door you get better service and food. Stay away from this place!

The food is good; the breakfast sandwiches/wraps are pretty solid. The bagels are delish. The hot food and the sandwich specials are really yummy. The staff is really friendly and I think they finally found a staff behind the counter that works so it doesn’t take a year and a day to get my food prepared. One of the guys behind the counter even takes the time to wipe my food container down if there is sauce on the outside. Now, if the prices were a bit better, I would be there every day.

Very happy with their fresh bagels and delicious egg wraps for breakfast. Coffees come wrapped in plastic so there is never any spillage when delivered(a major plus for them over their competition). Pleased with the quality of all food ever ordered from Pumpernickel Bagel and I’ve tried a lot of items on their menu. Delivery times vary, but I’m on the outer range of their delivery area, so i can’t complain.

I’ve Worked across the street for almost 3 years now. We’ve ordered from here nine times out of ten. Good food but the service is not great. They USUALLY get the order wrong. I order online at least a half hour ahead of time & I’m still standing there waiting 15 min & watching people order & go go in & out as I slowly watch my lunch hour tick by. They used to have a separate line for on line or telephone orders. No more. Got rid of the guy at the door to ring you up so you can be in & out. No more. Now after you order 3 salads on line & it takes them 45 min to get it ready ??? Pretty sure I’m done with this spot.

Great bagels and wraps. Clean and the service is friendly. I am not in LIC often but it is a good place to get coffee and a bagel before dealing with court

Salads made to order are pretty good. I would go more if they offered a whole wheat roll with their salad. They only have a nasty white flour roll.

Two words: RIPOFF. Expensive food, slow service, rude cashiers. Not to mention the quality of the food is terrible. For those prices I expect GOOD food. A grilled cheese sandwich took them over 20 minutes to make. I always go next door. The prices are much better and the staff is super friendly. And they are quick with making the food. Basically the opposite of this place.

I use to work down the street from here. It was probably the only place to get decent coffee, breakfast foods besides the diner. The place is fairly spacious with tables and large tvs with the news on. The cooks were efficient and the staff were always friendly to me taking my order and ringing me up. Most of the baked treats look delicious. I’ve only tried the danish which was standard. The iced coffee is large and fair price for the area. The hot coffee isn’t bad if you drink it black(which i do). One hiccup was on a few occasions, the cup they gave me leaked. Not horribly, but slow drips which forced me to drink my coffee faster than i wanted. I never tried their lunch, but its usually busy when i go for my coffee run.

Best bagel place around hands down. This place is filled with a great staff that gets the work done fast and efficiently while still being polite. The managers are always working on something to make the place better. I frequent this place, and haven’t had any complaints yet.

I like this place. It’s right by the subway on my back to the office from Court, and they do fresh tasty sandwiches and have a pretty decent variety of stuff on the menu. The staff are generally quite efficient and polite. The bagels are OK, but could be better considering the name of the business. They’re more bodega like really. They also offer a free lemonade(and chips) with a lunch sandwich but the lemonade is so watered down, it’s kinda not worth getting. If you know what to get here, they’re pretty decent but they don’t set the world on fire.

On two recent occasions, I ordered pickup from here on Seamless. Roughly a half an hour later, I went to pickup my order(an egg sandwich) only to find that not only was it not completed, it hadn’t even been started yet! After the second such failure, I asked the man behind the counter if it would be easier for them if I phoned my order in(rather than placed via Seamless) to ensure it is received. He said yes. The next day, I phoned my order in and went to pick up 30 mins later. What happened this time? You guessed it! They hadn’t even started it yet. The guy told me they were busy, but judging from the half hour head start and the mere 2 people that were in line I don’t believe this to be the case. I have enough drama during my workday, I certainly don’t need it with my breakfast.

I was a long-time customer here, but no more. The man behind the counter actually had the nerve to ask my husband for his ID when he went to pick up our breakfast order and began to argue with him in front of the entire morning crowd. Was this racist? Possibly. Was it incredibly rude? Absolutely. I will not be ordering from Pumpernickel again, nor will I be eating there, despite living nearby. I’d rather travel the extra 10 minutes to Brooklyn Bagel in Astoria where my family and I are treated with dignity and respect, AND where the bagels taste better anyways. Sorry, but you cannot treat your neighbors with such disrespect when you operate a neighborhood establishment, and expect to retain them as customers.

Great for breakfast! I love getting an everything bagel with cream cheese and lox. And it’s around 6 bucks, which is better than most places!

I get breakfast here pretty much every morning, for no other reason than it’s on my way to work and there’s no where else to eat in Long Island City. Here’s the scoop: the baked goods are fairly yummy, but the bagels are just meh and the sandwiches do not taste fresh. I once asked for no sugar in my coffee, and the server told me «Trust me, this coffee is very strong.» Then she put three scoops of sugar in! I also ordered a delivery once and my order was so cold and disgusting when it came I couldn’t even eat it. I feel bad giving a two star review because the people who work there are really nice, but the food is really not great.

By all appearances, I was in a happy public marriage with Astoria(our paparazzi name was AstoriVan). We spent a lot of time together and I loved introducing her to new friends. But, after seven years, I got the itch. I ran off to engage in a passionate ménage à trois with the Long Island City waterfront and another. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the big jugs(of marmalade at LIC Market) and long legs(on Dutch Kill’s drinks) that I was leaving for obscured how much I’d miss the old reliable holes that were waiting for me at home. Goodbye, Brooklyn Bagel. In search of new bagelry, I walked over to the Pump. They serve seemingly standard bagel-place fare(sandwiches, salad bar, a few paninis, a dessert case, etc.). The day we moved, I tried one of their wraps. And hot damn! I don’t know how the hell they do it, but everything here is just… better. Their breakfast sandwiches taste like an integrated work of art, not BACON and EGGS and CHEESE separately. Their grilled chicken breakfast wrap is packed with flavor, despite any obvious garnish or spice. Even the run of the mill«NY lunch place paninis» seem to show a bit more than I’ve seen elsewhere. Prices are a drop higher than average(an extra dollar or two here and there) and I haven’t actually tried their bagels yet. Said bagels are also nowhere near the size of my old love’s. But after a tenuous period, I have found a home and can begin Unilocaling anew. Goodbye my love, and thanks for the carb-filled memories.

So I get my first sandwich at the Pump, eat a couple bites, and actually double take at it. Why does it taste so good? The ingredients are not magical, and neither is the combination. And yet, wow. It’s almost off-putting how they make a breakfast wrap taste so much yummier than the next guy’s. This place is clearly designed to service the Citibank building lunchers, which is good, because it means they’re fast and consistent. But it’s bad, because it means they’re only open Mon-Fri for breakfast and lunch. And if a neighbor wants a turkey sandwich for dinner or a whole wheat everything bagel on a Saturday morning, tough cookies for her. Prices are just OK. Service is good, nice, quick. My affection is large.

As Stephen Stills says, «if you can’t be with the one you love, honey, love the one you’re with».* There are not a lot of great places to get lunch in the Court Square area, so sometimes you just have to eat what’s there. For years, I wouldn’t eat lunch rather than eat at the scary places in the area. But then Pumpernickel opened and it was definitely something I can live with. Prices are reasonable for a sandwich, they have an «A» rating, and portions are pretty large. Service is good, so I can’t complain. After my office moved from Manhattan to Queens several years ago, I cried myself to sleep every night because I missed having so many great lunch options, but I have to say that Pumpernickel gives me a ray of hope for good lunches once again. ___________________________ *
