I’m giving five stars because this place is the best at what they do, which serve great food at reasonable prices. There are no Sombreros hanging around and none of the Swag that so many mexican places have. Family run and very friendly. Shreded beef burritos smothered 7 bucks with slices of alvacoto. Gary

Here it is people, real Mexican food! Tacos Don Jose is right down the road from the more traditional Colorado style Mexican food chain so many of us have come to accept as palatable but this unassuming little restaurant serves up so much good I can’t see why you would pass it up. I came to Tacos Don Jose with a coworker from Minnesota who I could tell was a bit concerned with the décor and lack of usual corny Mexican restaurant paraphernalia but his trepidation was overcome by a truly excellent looking carnitas platter. I being the on the perpetual lookout for a California style burrito ordered the super smothered lengua burrito because it came with beans inside. I didn’t get to taste the carnitas(because hello that would have been awkward to ask my boss for some) but the burrito was very good. Service was snappy and as the place filled up food was coming out at a good pace so perhaps they have fixed any problems people experienced before. I highly recommend some Tacos Don Jose if you are in the area.

The food here is really good. Regretfully the wait can be very long. If you have the time it’s authentic.

I feel the new location used to be an old pizza parlor because of the oregano and crushed pepper shakers that’s on top of the checkerboard table covers. Ordered an amazing custom burrito that contain bean, bacon, chorizo, and cheese. However being hungover, I would have eaten anything that had grease. I feel there was a lack of taco options given that«taco» is in the name of the place. Now I’m from San Antonio so I know a thing or two about tacos. Service was okay and I received my food in a timely manner.

The Green Chili sauce is the best I’ve ever had. Big chunks of roasted pork in green chili. Wholly dam it was good. I wish I could bring it on the plane because I’d buy a bucket of it and bring it home. The tacos… Meh. Not bad, but nothing special.

I have searched and searched for a «legit» relleno; a roasted poblano pepper stuffed with mild white cheese and fried crispy in an egg batter. No wonton shells, no anaheim chiles, no cheddar cheese. Tacos Don Jose has exactly that, and it’s perfect!!! I also tried the chicken sopa and an asada taco– yum!!! The sopa was piled high with wonderful things like avocado and crisp lettuce, while the taco was simply topped with onion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime– exactly like you’d find in Mexico. SOSOSOGOOD! It’s making me drool just thinking about it! My husband had the smothered burrito and a taco al pastor and both of those were excellent as well. We were the only gringos in there, but we had our 7 month old daughter with us who likes to make lots of friends and everyone was happy to return her smile and wave. Service was excellent, particularly for a place where you order at the counter. Definitely worth a stop!

After living in Dallas I’d despaired of finding authentic tacos in the area until I came across Don Jose. It’s right next to a Game Force on Main and there are trees everywhere so it’s easy to miss. Let’s get to the tacos: served on two heated homemade corn tortillas, the lengua melts in your mouth, the pastor is seasoned perfectly with that tiny amount of sweetness, the asada is spot-on. There are two squeeze bottles of sauce: the tomatillo in the mustard bottle is pretty good, but the red sauce in the ketchup bottle is the best. The perfect quick lunch to knock back with a cold cup of horchata. They have other stuff too — my wife murdered the smothered burrito — green chili is something you CAN’T find in TX! All in all it’s a tiny place serving a short menu that packs a punch. I will absolutely be back.

Want to remember this place when we are traveling through. Good corn tortillas, salsa verde with a kick, lingua and shredded beef. Got tamales for the road.

I had the chicken quesadilla and since I didnt go with the Supreme, it was bland. But, my friend loved the beef torta she had. Excellent service!

The steak tacos were muy autentico. The corn tortillas tasted very fresh and the steak was delicious. Topped with chopped onion and cilantro– just like in Mexico. Easily five stars there. I also got chips and salsa. The chips were thick and still warm which is awesome and the salsa was seriously spicy but very good. Unfortunately the quesadilla was terrible. The cheese wasn’t very good and it hadn’t even melted. Also had iceburg lettuce in it, which I hate, and just overall it was a very poor quesadilla. So it depends on what you order. Fortunately the food is fast and cheap. Edit: After going back again(and getting steak tacos again) I’m bumping up to five stars. If you get the steak tacos you’ll give five stars too.

This is my new favorite place in Longmont. It’s great for all times of the day, their breakfast burritos are great, they have 6 different types. For lunch I usually have the tacos and I keep coming back for more. Additionally the tamales are absolutely fantastic! If you like taqueria style food this place really delivers!

I love this place. During my one trip to Mexico City I was introduced to tacos Al Pastor and since then that has been my favorite food of all time. Tacos Don Jose has Al Pastor tacos and I love them. Their green hot-sauce is my favorite and tops the list as the best I have ever had. I buy it in $ 10 to-go containers along with my tacos and my wife’s breakfast burrito. Love it. Hope they continue for a long time as-is.

This place is definitely legit. Friendly people working at the counter and fast service. So many taco spots and mexican in the area so I cant tell you if this is the best but the carne asada tacos with cilantro and onion are to die for. I am ready to go back right now actually.

Best mexican food in Longmont! Don’t forget to order the chips and salsa — the salsa is different every day, but amazing every time. LOVE the carne asada quesadilla, tacos and sopes. And the prices just can’t be beat.

Great place for a quick, cheap dinner or lunch. They also have breakfast burritos. Husband had a chicken quesadilla supreme(really big) and some tacos. He says he’ll be back for lunch. I had 3 different tacos — they were small but tasty and actually quite filling. My favorite was the carnitas and my least favorite was the asada which was dry as others have noted. The ingredients were fresh and identifiable. Makes you think the people waiting in line at taco bell are just insane when they could have better food, prepared by a local business for the same price.

I only come here for smothered burrito and horchata. Both sends me to heaven. The burrito comes with flavorful sauce with bacony taste and with just the right amount of salt. The lettuce is crisp… what can I say? It is a huge serving and it fills up my tummy. I could not eat anything after six hours! I like their free salsa. I am only giving 4 stars just because this week, they served greasy, thick, and hard chips. They look burned(dark brown) yet not crispy fresh. What happened? After my second bite, it cut my palate. I had to stop. Will I go back here again for the burrito? Oh yeah. I attached 2 pictures. One is a close up of the burrito. YUM
