I was really excited to try this place. It smelled awesome walking in. I ordered a bhakti to drink and a monte cristo. The portion sizes were underwhelming. The food wad meh. The fries were mediocre. The monte cristo was just… bizarre. Not like any i have ever had. They ruined the bhakti, which is odd. You literally only have to add milk or water. I buy the concentrate to make at home. I know how its supposed to taste. Sigh. Oh well. At least it wasnt too pricey.

Today I fell in love with the Prospect neighborhood all over again. I have lived here for 7 months and feel like a loser for just now giving Two Dog Diner a try. It was far beyond my expectations! A snowy day in this neighborhood is already dreamy enough, but sitting at the counter in this restaurant really made my day. It is diner food, but with lots of care and culinary technique so every bite is just perfect. Paul, the owner, comes from an extensive culinary background and it’s very apparent how passionate he is about serving the best product. The omelet I had was simple, but cooked just perfectly and all the ingredients were super fresh and the roasted potatoes were really delicious and fresh as well. Even the toast was just right and the coffee yummy as well. What really did it for me though was when I inquired about the pie that was sitting on the counter. It was blueberry which sounded great, but then Paul said, «Oh wait, I have one I just took out of the oven. It’s chocolate pecan. I hope that’s ok.» Ha! Twist my arm. When I asked if he has fresh whipped cream he gave me that, «come on, this isn’t amateur hour» kind of look and said, «of course and it’s made from local dairy.» I feel like I talk about whipped cream in EVERY Unilocal review I do and here I am again. Anyway, I ordered a slice to go and Paul said, «it’s still warm and gooey… so sorry about that.» Genius! The pie was insanely delicious! Perfect flaky crust and great balance of flavors. Even if you just go for pie and coffee, it is a must try.

Fabulous food, great ambience and layout in the space itself. Tucked away in Prospect so it’s harder to find than most restaurants, but worth it. Owner and staff were friendly, food was delicious and served in good time. A great place for breakfast and lunch, and perfect for meeting clients for business. I’ll go back frequently now that I discovered it.

We were deeply disappointed today. We are regulars here at least once a month. Breakfast is our meal of choice here. BESTBACONAROUND! Today they seemed disorganized and food quality wasn’t there. Had to ask 3 times for coffee and water refills. Potatoes were cooked well and then were not seasoned at all! The bacon was great! But the chai latte was cold by the time it arrived, and the waffle was cold so a bit tough. The wait staff blamed it on being slammed, but we have been here when they had people waiting 20 min for a table and they were more efficient. Sad to say that today was a 3. We will be back and hope for significant improvement after spending $ 50 for 3 people!

I am not sure about their regular menu, as every time I come in, one of their specials always calls out to me. As I always enjoy whatever the special is, I may just keep up with my already set routine. The food is good, but the staff will keep me coming back. Always polite and cheerful, even when extremely busy.

Not that good, ordered a ham and cheddar omelet, it was cooked with too much griddle oil and tasted bland. I mean the whole thing was swimming in oil. I asked for hash browns but like some weak skilled diners they only have home fries, not much of a «diner». Better places nearby, don’t waste your money here.

I had such a great experience here! I was visiting for business from San Diego, CA. Stopped in with a group to hold a breakfast meeting. The staff was extremely accommodating and made us feel welcome, even as our group grew. Service — A+ Staff was friendly and attentive. Kept our coffee and water full and handled our exceptions. Food — A+ I had the pumpkin waffle, which came with blackberries. However, I asked them to substitute another fruit, which they gladly did. I got bananas, and man those ‘cakes were great. Other people in our party had omelets, eggs, meats, etc. Everyone raved about the food and portions. Intangibles — A+ Great neighborhood location. Friendly, on-site owner. Cool, diner-like feel. The only negative to this place can be parking. We were lucky to get a close spot, but it can be tough on a busy morning.

Two Dog Diner in Longmont(Prospect) CO is amazing! It’s the perfect marriage of urban chic with nostalgic retro. The décor is charming. Everything is immaculately clean. Not only are the servers friendly and accommodating, my food has always been delivered within 5 – 10 minutes. With generous portions, their menu offers great variety with consideration for special dietary needs. The gourmet coffee is heavenly. People of all ages flock to Two Dog Diner. Their old– fashioned soda fountain counter, complete with comfy barstool chairs, is awesome– where you will meet interesting members of the community while watching the chefs work their magic. Please do yourself a favor and try Two Dog Diner :-)

Went for late breakfast with 3 others. The place is small and cramped. They do have options available for those with special diets(vegetarian, vegan, gluten free). The food was decent, when it finally made it to our table. It also took a ridiculous amount of time for the sodas and black coffees that we ordered to arrive. The service was poor, the staff was rude, and I won’t be returning.

This is where I come to carb load. With menu items like frosted flake crusted blueberry cream cheese stuffed french toast and lemon cake waffles, it’s just the bright lights and pretty colors I need to draw me in. The food is just flat out delicious. And with rotating specials, the menu is NEVER boring. Locally owned and dedicated to making you feel like the most special customer who ever walked in their doors, makes this a place I’m always wanting to visit. Solid Sunday morning ritual for me and my curly headed man candy. Go, order a special from the board, and carb reward your tummy for eating well all week.

The idiom«hidden gem» has been played out over the centuries such that I find it painful to use unless it *perfectly* fits the subject in question, and it fits nothing so well as 2 Dog Diner. The Diner is nestled on the perimeter of the winding warren of South Longmont streets known as Prospect Town, a neighborhood I’d heretofore avoided due to the rather unpleasant, blocky, modernist architecture with which the designers felt compelled to ring the development. To be completely forthcoming, I was actually looking for another restaurant that apparently doesn’t open until after 16:00. So I hoofed it down the street and stumbled upon the 2 Dog Diner. The décor is very urban retro and the interior sparkling clean. I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered the eggs and biscuits(which were covered with sausage gravy, one of my favorite rulers by which to judge a restaurant’s breakfast). The decaf tasted respectable, the wait for food was less than 15 minutes, and the dish was fantastic. The biscuits were made from scratch, the gravy was rich and packed full of delicious sausage, the potatoes were fresh-fried(right in front of me), and the eggs were gigantic and tasted farm-fresh. The gentleman who refilled my coffee turned out to be the owner, Paul, whom I’d already observed managing his staff with decency and respect and jumping in alongside them when they got busy. He mentioned the source of the sausage in the gravy was Old Style Sausage in Louisville and that he made the gravy himself. Yes, I visited ONCE and ordered ONEDISH, but the experience was such that I now wish I lived upstairs from there and could eat there every day. THIS is what it’s ABOUT.

Nice enough place. Friendly enough staff. Food is good but do not ever eat outside. You will be forgotten. Gone are the days of places hiring experienced servers and what it means to check in with tables after food has been ordered. «How is everything?» and«Can I get you something?» are questions not to be asked here. Also you might be given silverware. This is a place that takes your order and brings your food. That’s it. The service is very lacking. Makes the concept of a tip questionable as servers here do not go over what the job-description of «brings food to table» describes. Also they are uneven on their policy of allowing dogs at your table next to you outside. Sometimes the owner and servers are jumping all over you explaining how it’s against policy and then other guests get to have their animal next to them. I desperately gave this place a chance and wanted it to be «my» local diner but no one I ever took there enjoyed it and then just having such uneven and lower than mediocre service is enough of a turn-off. I hate leaving reviews like this. I hope I don’t come off as snarky as I’m not bitter, just exceedingly disatisfied. Doubtful I’ll be back.

Based on the menu, I really, really wanted to like this place. Diner food with an upscale twist? Sign me up I thought! Sadly, the reality was nowhere near my expectations. My husband and I stopped in for a weekday brunch and were seated promptly in the admittedly cute dining room which is where the good times ended. We ordered a Cobb salad and Monte Cristo, which we couldn’t change the bread on because it was pre-made. Now that we had it, I have doubts as to whether it was pre-made by the kitchen or came in a package. The Monte Cristo was sweet on sweet on sweet with no contrast in flavor or texture and the home fries it came with were not only burnt but seasoned primarily with SUGAR, not salt and were basically unseasoned otherwise. The Cobb salad twist here is that it is served with pears, which sounds lovely except my salad contained none of them. There were 4 – 5 guys in the kitchen and there were about 5 customers so I know it wasn’t left out in a rush because they were slammed. I would have tried to remedy the situation except that our server Caitlin(whose name I only know from our receipt) disappeared for the first half of our meal then went passed us about 5 times but refused to adknowledge us. What a bummer on a «Cobb» salad that contains only about half the staples of a true Cobb(no tomato, no hard boiled egg, no veggies). Oh and there were quite a few past prime lettuce pieces to pick out. This place wants to be a nicer version of a diner but seems to be cutting corners to get there(pre-cooked poorly cut turkey from a package on the cobb, pre-made Monte Cristo, leaving out the nicer ingredients) and the service was pretty bad(no refills on our drinks, missing waitress, never asked how our food was, staff just standing around chatting in the dining room). I don’t think we’ll be back.

My husband and I are trying this for the first time. We got seated right away but noticed that a party of 3 had to wait 10 – 15 minutes before being seated. This group arrived just before us, so really should have been seated first. *shrug* I ordered the biscuit and eggs and he ordered the Two Dog breakfast. First thing we noticed when served was that they didn’t take the time to put the French toast on its own plate. They piled up all his food, eggs, meat, potatoes on top of the toast. After waiting for a plate we dug in. Yuck!!! Raw eggs, underdone potatoes, and soggy toast. The biscuit was hard and barely edible. Couldn’t finish the meal :( Cannot recommend this place to anyone. On top of the poor food, the service was severely lacking and everything was greatly overpriced. It seems we will NOT be coming back here any time soon.

We wandered in to the Two Dog Diner at a very bad time… A Monday around noon. My friend and I had heard great things about Two Dog and my initial reaction when we walked in was impressed. The place is clean and the décor has a modern diner flair to it. We sat down in the corner and were greeted by a friendly waitress. Friendly yes! Attentive, no. In fact, I could describe her(and the manager who was helping her) as borderline invisible. Although the food was delicious and came out in a timely enough manner, we had to fill our own waters after wandering around looking for someone to help us. When we realized we didn’t have ketchup or hot sauce, we knew we would have to be proactive and find our own. My friend poked around the waitress area and was able to snag some for us. While walking back and forth to fill water, get condiments, etc, not one person approached us or questioned us. They seemed to be too overwhelmed to even notice. I approached the manager with our concerns and he was very understanding and apologetic. I will try Two Dog again, but as it stands this is not a place that has earned a great review.

Oh man, their French toast is EXACTLY what I wanted, and they make a damn good biscuit! French toast is made with thick cuts of sourdough, soaked in custard. I wish they had warmed up the real maple syrup though, and the jam on the table was way too sweet for my tastes.

Sitting at the bar for breakfast was an eye-opening experience. One I won’t soon forget. I’ve eaten here a handful of times in the past and have had great food and good to okay service. The menu choices and creative food have always been a draw along with the fun atmosphere and eclectic neighborhood. Hand hygiene is important. For everyone. But especially important in healthcare, child care, and food service. During today’s visit the importance of proper food handling appears to have gone by the way-side at 2 Dog Diner. I witnessed the cook rinsing his hands with cold water and sometimes getting a paper towel to dry his hands and other times reaching to the dirty kitchen towel hanging from his apron /belt. Never once did he use soap or hot/warm water and certainly not for the duration required to decontaminate. He navigated from raw eggs to raw meat to cooked meat to bread to plate and back, never once washing his hands.
