Box Car Barbeque

AVOID this place at all cost. When I came for lunch, I was the only customer and now I know why. The cashier was extremely rude and very unhelpful. When I asked for a recommendation, he literally just stared at me. Not sure if it was because I wasn’t white…
I decided to order the 3 meat BBQ plate and when it came out I was very disappointed. I literally had four pieces of cut sausage, two thin slices of turkey and a little chopped beef. I got two giant pieces of bread and a side of cole slaw and potato salad. The cole slaw was dried cabbage and some «gravy» poured over the top. It was TERRIBLE! The potato salad was sour and warm.
After I sat down to eat, another customer came behind me and ordered the same dish. He got twice as much food as I did! Then the cashier sat down next to my table and are a whopping pile of BBQ on his plate. I could not believe this! I walked out before I even finished my meal.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I’m never coming back to this place. I have never seen such terrible customer service in my life. The BBQ is bland, the sides are awful and the service is terrible. This goes to show that anyone can just rent a shack and sell BBQ just because they have an oven. Stick with bodacious if you’re in town.

The food was nothing special and overpriced. The service was rude and unhelpful. When we asked for a recommendation on what to order, the man taking our order just laughed and stared at us. When other customers who they knew came in, they were friendly. But to us, first time customers, we did not receive the same warm welcome. So, unless you know the owners, it isn’t worth your time or money.

Much less on the map than it’s Bodacious counter part, Box Car has some solid BBQ. The employees and chef were very cordial and cut up the food right in front of me.
I had the BBQ plate with sausage, brisket, and Turkey. Of the the three, I would say the turkey was actually the best. Personally I thought the brisket was a touch dry. But the delicious BBQ sauce made up for it when you dipped the brisket into that. Sausage was real good too I thought.
The sides of potato salad, beans, and cole slaw were nothing special. Very typical and aren’t worth getting honestly.

I moved to Longview for only 2 months and it was by far the most saddest time in my life but the only thing that kept me from losing my mind was the Box Car Barbeque! By god the best BBQ I have ever had by far! I thank the owner and his son for always being so hospitable to me and my family every 3 times a week we would eat there! CHEERS TO BOX CAR BARBEQUE!

Bodacious has nothing on this place! I was a little skeptical walking into this place because the outside doesn’t look that great and there was only one car in the parking lot. They always say don’t judge a book by its cover so I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the chopped beef sandwich with slaw and potato salad. The chopped beef sandwich was so tender and melted in my mouth. It paired perfectly with their BBQ sauce! Yum! The slaw is so much better than Bodacious, it isn’t your typical slaw! But, the potato salad was a little too peppery for my taste though.
I would come back here again in a heartbeat if I am ever in the area.
